Why I’ll Never Watch 'Wicked'—And You Shouldn’t Either
I have never seen the musical Wicked or read the book it is based on. And I have no intention of watching the new movie that was just released. Heck, I’m already sick of hearing about it and can’t wait for the marketing campaign to end.
One of the aspects of Wicked that troubles me is the way the story attempts to challenge the traditional concept of good and evil. The story suggests that perceptions of morality are shaped more by circumstances, choices, and societal labels than by inherent values. While this perspective might seem empowering and introspective at first glance, it becomes deeply problematic when you consider its broader implications.
