In recent weeks, the political landscape has undergone significant upheaval as former President Donald Trump returned to office, taking decisive actions aimed at dismantling the Deep State.
On his first day in office, Trump signed an executive order directing a thorough investigation into the Department of Justice (DOJ) for its actions following the January 6 events. This order highlighted his assertion that the federal government had been weaponized against political opponents under the previous administration.
“The American people have witnessed the previous administration engage in a systematic campaign against its perceived political opponents, weaponizing the legal force of numerous Federal law enforcement agencies and the Intelligence Community against those perceived political opponents in the form of investigations, prosecutions, civil enforcement actions, and other related actions,” the executive order reads. “These actions appear oriented more toward inflicting political pain than toward pursuing actual justice or legitimate governmental objectives," the order continued. "Many of these activities appear to be inconsistent with the Constitution and/or the laws of the United States, including those activities directed at parents protesting at school board meetings, Americans who spoke out against the previous administration’s actions, and other Americans who were simply exercising constitutionally protected rights.”
The order also mandated a review of the intelligence community’s activities over the past four years, intending to align their operations with constitutional principles and restore public trust.
He also revoked the security clearances of 51 former intelligence officials who had signed a letter during the 2020 campaign falsely claiming that Hunter Biden's laptop was a product of Russian disinformation. This letter, coordinated by the Biden campaign gave Big Tech justification to censor the story on social media. It was a blatant act of election interference.
“Federal policymakers must be able to rely on analysis conducted by the Intelligence Community and be confident that it is accurate, crafted with professionalism, and free from politically motivated engineering to affect political outcomes in the United States,” the order states. “The signatories willfully weaponized the gravitas of the Intelligence Community to manipulate the political process and undermine our democratic institutions. This fabrication of the imprimatur of the Intelligence Community to suppress information essential to the American people during a Presidential election is an egregious breach of trust reminiscent of a third world country. And now the faith of Americans in all other patriotic intelligence professionals who are sworn to protect the Nation has been imperiled.”
The order aims to prevent the intelligence community from engaging in partisan politics by barring election influence, restricting the use of classified information in memoirs, and launching an investigation into a letter falsely labeling Hunter Biden’s laptop as “Russian disinformation.” A report on findings, misconduct, and disciplinary recommendations is required within 90 days.
Trump also issued an executive order to end “all discriminatory programs, including illegal DEI and ‘diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility’ (DEIA) mandates, policies, programs, preferences, and activities in the Federal Government, under whatever name they appear.” Reports have since surfaced of federal workers expressing concerns over job security, suggesting that many were contemplating resignations amid Trump's sweeping changes.
Trump undertook a bold move by dismissing 17 inspectors general. Inspectors general are meant to serve as independent federal watchdogs, responsible for rooting out waste and abuse in government—a role the public relies on them to fulfill. However, as RealClearPolitics reporter Susan Crabtree highlights, many inspectors general have a troubling history of whitewashing reports and engaging in partisan politics, often giving left-wing officials a free pass.
Trump’s decisive actions mark a pivotal moment in the fight to restore accountability and integrity to the federal government. By dismantling the Deep State’s entrenched power, revoking security clearances from those who manipulated the political process, and eradicating discriminatory programs that prioritize ideology over merit, Trump is taking essential steps to ensure the government serves the people—not itself.
These measures are not merely symbolic; they are a powerful reminder of what it means to have a government “of the people, by the people, and for the people.” For too long, unelected bureaucrats and partisan operatives wielded their influence without accountability. Trump’s efforts to root out corruption, uphold constitutional principles, and demand transparency are not only necessary but overdue.
This bold return to leadership is a testament to the belief that America’s government must answer to its citizens. By challenging the status quo and pursuing justice, Trump is setting a new standard for governance—one that prioritizes the rights and voices of everyday Americans.
In short, he’s draining the swamp.
do you understand that some/many could see trump as stocking the swamp??
