My Interview with Kirk Cameron

This week, thanks to Brave Books, I got to interview Kirk Cameron about his new book, Pride Comes Before the Fall, which comes out on June 1 from Brave Books.

It was an exciting opportunity because I grew up watching Kirk portray Mike Seaver on Growing Pains, one of my favorite shows. So talking to him via Zoom was surreal, and I was thrilled to speak with him about his book and his efforts to fight back against the woke culture targeting American children.

Kirk Cameron’s nationwide story-time tour has been highly successful, with visits to various cities, including Indianapolis, New York, Savannah, Los Angeles, Nashville, and Charlotte. Kirk told me how library leadership in these liberal strongholds claimed their communities would not be interested in his book or his message, yet thousands of people from diverse backgrounds have attended his events. 

He told me that he believes our nation’s values are being undermined and hijacked and that most Americans want to rediscover the values that have historically brought blessings and protection. “I think parents all across the nation are extremely concerned about the values that our kids are being taught through their phones and at school. And they want them to be learning the things that are going to lead to their blessing, not their destruction.”

Kirk has been reading his books at libraries nationwide, and the response has been incredible. “Kids are going nuts over it,” he told me. “And the parents love it, because not only are the kids excited about all the adventure and the danger and the lessons that have to be learned, but they want to return to those values that are going to help their kids grow up and be mentally stable, and, and full of character and faith.”

We spoke for a good twenty minutes, and I can tell you that Kirk is sincerely committed to helping parents keep their kids on the right path. In fact, he is sacrificing time away from his family to help parents feel empowered to protect their children from the dominance of radical leftist culture. He strongly believes—and I agree—that despite the dominance of elite progressives in popular culture, they are actually in the minority, but they just have “the loudest megaphone.” He believes their Achilles’ heel is their pride, which ultimately leads to destruction.
