As the political winds shift under President-elect Donald Trump’s decisive victory, the mood in the Democratic camp has turned bleak. For most Democrats, the aftermath of this election is nothing short of miserable, and Trump’s assembly of his new administration has sent a clear signal that this new administration is going to be a force to be reckoned with.
Trump’s recent picks for his upcoming administration signal a bold direction, sure to rattle the left and energize his base. Campaign co-manager Susie Wiles will take on the role of White House chief of staff, while GOP Conference Chair Rep. Elise Stefanik, R-N.Y., is set to serve as U.N. ambassador. Former ICE Director Tom Homan will be the new border czar, with Rep. Lee Zeldin, R-N.Y., stepping in to lead the EPA. Sen. Marco Rubio has been tapped as secretary of State, and South Dakota Gov. Kristi Noem will head up the Department of Homeland Security.
In other high-profile selections, Trump named former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee as ambassador to Israel and Fox News commentator Pete Hegseth as Secretary of Defense—a pick that has especially triggered left-leaning critics. To lead the newly-created Department of Government Efficiency, Trump appointed both Elon Musk and Vivek Ramaswamy as co-chairs. Former Rep. Tulsi Gabbard has been chosen for Director of National Intelligence, while Rep. Matt Gaetz has been chosen as Attorney General, though his confirmation appears unlikely.
And the left is having trouble coping. Some on the left have finally ditched their X/Twitter accounts. There may even be a couple of people who will follow through on leaving the country—though I doubt it.
But for the most part, there’s just widespread dread from the left. And honestly, after what they put us and our country through the past four years, I’m just loving it.
