Justice is Coming For the Architects of the Trump–Russia Hoax
It’s about time the architects of the Trump–Russia hoax face the scrutiny they so richly deserve. For years, Americans watched as John Brennan and James Comey—once lionized by the media as guardians of democracy—abused their positions to wage a political vendetta against Donald Trump. Now, at last, the wheels of justice are turning. Both Brennan, the former Obama CIA Director, and Comey, the disgraced ex-FBI chief, are officially under criminal investigation for their roles in what stands as one of the most dishonest political smear campaigns in modern history.
This criminal probe, long overdue, was set in motion by CIA Director John Ratcliffe, who referred evidence of Brennan’s misconduct directly to FBI Director Kash Patel. That referral has now escalated into a full-blown investigation, reportedly centering on Brennan’s apparent false statements to Congress—though that may only scratch the surface. As for Comey, the Department of Justice is keeping details close to the vest, but given his record of political manipulation and abuse of power, there’s no shortage of potential wrongdoing to examine.
The heart of the matter is the infamous Steele dossier—a collection of unverified, discredited opposition research funded by the Clinton campaign and the DNC. Despite warnings from seasoned CIA officials about its glaring flaws, Brennan insisted on jamming this political hit job into the 2017 Intelligence Community Assessment (ICA) on Russian interference. That move “ran counter to fundamental tradecraft principles and ultimately undermined the credibility of a key judgment.” Yet, when called before Congress in 2023, Brennan spun a different tale, claiming the CIA opposed including the dossier and treated it as separate from the main assessment. His public testimony directly contradicted his own written position at the time.
Let’s be clear: Brennan and Comey weaponized their agencies, prioritizing “narrative consistency over analytical soundness” to serve a political agenda. Their actions weren’t just about undermining a president—they were about undermining the very fabric of our institutions.
For years, the media and the political class turned a blind eye, refusing to hold these men accountable as they targeted a sitting president with a baseless conspiracy theory. Now, with the criminal investigation underway, the possibility of real consequences is finally on the table.
But Brennan and Comey are hardly alone in this scandal. There are others who should be held accountable as well.
