Impeachment Inquiry Exposes White House Grip on Media
After House Speaker McCarthy announced the launch of an impeachment inquiry into Joe Biden’s corruption, we learned that the White House issued a directive to the media to criticize the impeachment.
“The White House sent a letter to top US news executives on Wednesday, urging them to intensify their scrutiny of House Republicans after Speaker Kevin McCarthy launched an impeachment inquiry into President Joe Biden,” CNN reported Wednesday, before falsely claiming House Republicans found no evidence of wrongdoing. “The letter, which said an impeachment inquiry with no supporting evidence should ‘set off alarm bells for news organizations,’ was sent to executives helming the nation’s largest news organizations, including CNN, The New York Times, Fox News, the Associated Press, CBS News, and others, a White House official familiar with the matter said.”
CNN lays it on pretty thick with the editorializing and false claims that House Republicans haven’t found any evidence. They have financial records, eyewitness testimony, and more, including video evidence of Joe Biden bragging about how he used a $1 billion loan as leverage to force Ukraine to fire the prosecutor investigating Burisma—the energy company Hunter Biden was making $1 million a year sitting on the board for.
That’s what’s so ironic about the White House directive. They didn’t have to direct the media to poopoo the impeachment inquiry; they would do it anyway. Reporters tried to cover for Joe Biden well before the White House sent its directive out. On Tuesday, a reporter told Rep. Scott Perry (R-Pa.) that Americans “can’t see” evidence that merits an impeachment inquiry and asked what evidence Republicans actually have to prove they aren’t just out for “political revenge” on behalf of Donald Trump.
Rep. Perry promptly destroyed her for the ludicrous suggestion. (RELATED: Reporter Gets Destroyed After Claiming ‘No Evidence’ for Biden Impeachment)
CNN later attempted to fact-check Kevin McCarthy’s impeachment inquiry announcement but ultimately admitted that the evidence for launching the impeachment inquiry does exist. (RELATED: CNN Fact Check Hilariously Proves Case for Biden Impeachment Inquiry)
Again on Thursday, a reporter attempted to push the narrative that there’s no evidence to support an inquiry and humiliated herself when House Speaker Kevin McCarthy got her to admit there is evidence to support an inquiry.
“Congressman Issa came out and said that both Chairman Jordan and Comer were not able to present anything that is an impeachable offense at this point,” the reporter began. “Is that an assessment that you share?”
I’m not exactly sure what she’s talking about; Chairman Issa supports the inquiry and called the evidence uncovered so far “overwhelming,” but I digress.
“You know, an impeachment inquiry is not impeachment so what an impeachment inquiry is to do is to get answers to questions,” McCarthy explained to her. “Are you concerned about all the stuff that was just recently learned? Do you have any concern? Have you asked the White House any questions?”
“Yes,” she replied.
“Okay, do you agree that, do you believe that the president lied to the American public when he said he had never talked to his son about business dealings? Yes or not? It’s alright.”
She told him she couldn’t answer the question. But here’s where McCarthy destroyed her.
“You can’t answer that? Do you believe when they said the president went on conference calls? Do you believe that happened?”
“That’s what the testimony says,” she told him.
“Okay, do you believe the president went to Cafe Milano and had dinner with the clients of Hunter Biden who believes he got those clients because he was selling the brand?”
“That’s what the testimony says,” she said again.
“Okay, do you believe Hunter Biden when you saw the video of him driving a Porsche, that he got $143,000 to buy that Porsche the next day? Do you believe the $3 million from the Russian oligarch that was transferred to the shell companies that the Bidens controlled after the dinner from Cafe Milano took place?”
“That’s what the testimony says,” she said once again.
McCarthy followed up that concession by asking if she thinks Joe Biden lied.
“But is that an impeachable—is lying an impeachable offense?” she asked.
“Well, you want to know, I’m not saying impeachment. All I’m saying is, I would like to know the answers to these questions. The American public would like to know, and that’s what an impeachment inquiry provides.”
I refuse to believe this reporter is so stupid to think this is about whether Joe Biden lied about his knowledge and involvement in Hunter Biden’s business dealings. But, she was stupid enough to admit that “that’s what the testimony says,” multiple times. Testimony is evidence! And it’s backed up by financial records and much more.
Sadly, this is how the media is playing it.
Did the White House really have to give orders to the media to criticize the impeachment inquiry when they are so in the tank for Joe Biden that they will literally claim there is “no evidence” one second, then concede there is evidence the next?
The media was gonna push the White House narrative regardless, but it felt it necessary to remind them how to report on it. This is why I believe that the White House is panicking over this impeachment inquiry.
