Barack Obama just can’t help himself. The former president dove headfirst into the Texas redistricting fight with the same sanctimonious fury he’s deployed for years, portraying himself as the guardian of “democracy” against Republican power grabs.
Obama declared in a post on X, “We can’t lose focus on what matters – right now, Republicans in Texas are trying to gerrymander district lines to unfairly win five seats in next year’s midterm elections. This is a power grab that undermines our democracy.” The lack of self-awareness here is staggering.
Let’s get something straight: Texas Democrats aren’t bravely defending democracy. They’re running away from it—literally—by fleeing the state to bust quorum. Their aim isn’t noble resistance; it’s an act of sabotage, a desperate attempt to block a vote because the outcome won’t go their way. When democracy becomes inconvenient, they trip over themselves to “save” it by avoiding it entirely.
And they went to Illinois, of all places—one of the most egregiously gerrymandered states in the union.
Obama keeps pushing his “protect the process, save democracy” line, all while ignoring his own heavy involvement in some of the most aggressive partisan map-drawing schemes in years. Take All On The Line, the organization run by Obama’s former Attorney General Eric Holder, which exists entirely to boost Democrat representation in Congress through gerrymandering blue states and fighting GOP-backed redistricting plans.
Curiously, Obama has no problem with this groups efforts, and he even boasted in 2019 about their training program, Redistricting U, making it clear Democrats were gearing up to exploit redistricting to their advantage.
But the hypocrisy only sharpens with a closer look. Critics didn’t have to dig deep. Former Wisconsin Governor Scott Walker unearthed the NDRC’s own IRS filings, laying bare the real agenda: “Favorably position Democrats for the redistricting process.”
It’s laughable how the left claims their redistricting efforts are about “fairness” when it’s really just about rigging the system for partisan gain. Take “Redistricting U,” Obama’s prized training program designed to reshape congressional districts right where Democrats stood to benefit the most. Illinois offers a perfect example—the state that launched Obama’s political career saw Democrats draw a map so blatantly stacked they secured 14 out of 17 House seats. The Princeton Gerrymandering Project slapped the Illinois map with an “F” for its shameless partisan bias.
Yet when Republicans use similar tactics, Obama suddenly sounds the alarm, warning that democracy itself is under threat. The man who made a career out of weaponizing rhetoric now lectures others about “power grabs” with a straight face.
This wasn’t just politics as usual. It was the purest form of gerrymandering—endorsed, championed, and organized by Obama’s own network. The very machine he set in motion trumpeted its mission to create “favorable” maps for Democrats, not “fair” ones. And when Republican operatives pointed this out, the usual crowd dismissed them as conspiracy theorists or sore losers, ignoring the receipts scattered across publicly available IRS forms.
So who is Obama to wag his finger at Texas Republicans while ignoring the redistricting circus performed by his own party in Illinois and beyond? His grandstanding about threats to democracy rings hollow. After all, the only real threat is the precedent he set—where “saving democracy” means pocketing the referee’s whistle until your own side draws the lines.
Obama, you can kiss my ass.
He’d like that…
LOVE the last line of this post. Obama is a no body from nowhere created in Satan's image. In the dictionary under narcissism it says see him. Thanks to the late Robin Williams for that reference. Is anyone actually listening to that blowhard?
