Are Democrats Too Far Gone to Save?
Imagine a political party so locked into its own echo chamber that even its staunchest defenders start whispering about disaster. Well, that’s happening right now with the Democrats. A New York Times columnist, no stranger to carrying water for the left, drops a bombshell article questioning why Democrats keep chasing extremes that repel everyday Americans.
Thomas B. Edsall’s latest op-ed lays it all out, but will the party listen?
Edsall doesn’t exactly hold back with his assessment of the party. The headline alone speaks volumes: “Why Are So Many Democratic Politicians So Far Out of Touch?” Conservatives have been asking this question for years, and it applies to so many issues. For example, the SAVE America Act is widely popular. Americans overwhelmingly support proof-of-citizenship requirements to register to vote and photo-ID requirements to cast a ballot. Democrats in Congress, however, are almost unanimously against it, and the bill is being blocked in the Senate.
