A Democrat Senator Just Said the Quiet Part Out Loud

Democrats aren’t just coming after Trump anymore. One Democrat senator has now said the party wants to go after the people who work for him, and even college kids who are only thinking about it. She calls it a “deterrence message.” I call it something much darker. Click here to read more.

The Detail That Could Cost Ilhan Omar Her Citizenship

Ilhan Omar wants you to believe the federal raid on her home is pure politics. There’s just one problem: the probe started under Biden, and a Democrat judge signed off. Now a top legal scholar says one detail about her age could unravel everything, and her years in Congress may only make things worse for her. Here’s what could happen next. Click here to read more.

Democrats Really Are the Worst

Bill Maher has never voted Republican, but that didn’t protect him. After he had dinner with President Trump, his own sister stopped talking to him. What did Maher ask of her? Something so small it’s hard to believe she said no. It’s the latest proof that, for today’s left, loyalty to the cause matters more than family. Click here to read more.

The Telltale Sign Kamala Will Run In 2028

Kamala Harris says she’s still undecided about 2028. Her party isn’t eager for her to run again, her donors are frustrated, and even her husband reportedly has doubts. But at a Nevada rally, she did something that tells me her mind is made up. It wasn’t even what she said, it was how she said it. And once you hear it, you can’t unhear it. Click here to read more.

Is Minnesota’s ‘Safe’ Democrat Senate Seat Slipping Away?

Minnesota is about as reliably blue as it gets, so Democrats figured its Senate seat was safe. Not anymore. A major forecaster moved the race, and even NBC’s Steve Kornacki sees trouble brewing for the Democrat nominee. Click here to read more.

Before You Trust the Midterm Polls, Read This

Democrats are feeling pretty good about the Senate right now, but a veteran Trump pollster says they shouldn’t trust the numbers. He spotted one poll that stacked the deck against Republicans from the start. And if you think it’s just one bad survey, remember what happened in Texas in 2024. There’s a good reason to doubt the doom. Click here to read more.

Editorial Cartoon

As the writer of Margolis & Cox editorial cartoons, I’d like to one select cartoon from the past week for your enjoyment.

Democrats are acting like they’ve already won the midterms, and the elections in November are just a formality. I think they’re going to be disappointed when Republicans keep control of the chamber.

I don’t say that lightly. I have little patience for conservative influencers who wave away every bad poll as fake. Why? Because false hope sets people up for heartbreak and burns whatever credibility they had. I said repeatedly is 2024 that the polls showing Kamala Harris ahead were wrong, I had a specific reason: their crosstabs didn’t line up with their toplines.

For sure, holding the House is a tougher sell for Republicans this year, and I wouldn’t count on it. The Senate is another matter, and my confidence rests on how polls have actually performed in close Senate races.

When news broke that Karoline Leavitt was leaving her post as White House press secretary, it wasn’t surprising, but it was disappointing. Leavitt was amazing at her job, and a lot was riding on who President Donald Trump would pick to replace her.

When the pick turned out to be Katie Zacharia, I honestly didn’t know anything about her. I figured I’d judge her by her actual performance. Tuesday was the day, and I was, to say the least, disappointed.

Zacharia’s first briefing was… well, I wouldn’t say it was a disaster, but it was not very promising. It lasted just 14 minutes, one of the shortest White House briefings of the past decade. She looked visibly nervous and read conspicuously off the script in front of her, which looked terrible. Worse, she burned eight of those 14 minutes on opening remarks, and she lacked the gravitas of Leavitt.

That left roughly six minutes for actual questions. She took three, from Breitbart, Fox News, and the Daily Mail. Photos of her notes suggest she picked those reporters in advance, and she still botched their names. So she had a cheat sheet for the easiest part of the job and still couldn’t get it right.

And then she bailed.

“I am going to end it because President Trump is heading out to Marine One for our historic trip to Alaska,” Zacharia said. Trump wasn’t going anywhere. Reporters didn’t get the call for the Marine One departure for another hour.

That was bad.

Her defenders inside the administration either showered her with praise on social media or scrambled to excuse her lackluster performance. “She seemed nervous, but who wouldn’t be?” one administration official told The New York Post. The same official said critics were “being assholes” because she “had the guts” to try something new “with 24 hours of prep,” insisting that TV newcomers “all come out of the gates shaky.” Sorry, but nobody forced her to take the podium on a day’s notice, and the White House press secretary doesn’t get a rookie curve… certainly not this close to the midterms.

A second official had an even weaker case. “She looked absolutely stunning,” the official said, which matters to a president who likes staff who look “out of central casting.” The official also praised the mother of four for discussing how she plans to balance motherhood with the job and predicted that “she’ll find her footing pretty quickly.” Maybe. Looking good on camera and having a nice family story won’t help her answer a hostile question about foreign policy.

I’m just sitting here thinking if they could still get Scott Jennings to do the job.

A person close to the White House admitted “it’s unfair to compare her negatively to the best press secretary [under Trump], Karoline [Leavitt],” while conceding, “I doubt [Trump] will move on quickly” because Trump “doesn’t exactly love saying he was wrong, even implicitly.” Trump, who watched on TV, seemed perfectly content. “I thought she was very good,” he said as he left for Marine One. Rumors suggest Chief of Staff Susie Wiles is far less happy with the pick and was not consulted.

The media held nothing back in criticizing Zacharia.

“White House press secretary Katie Zacharia was met with a barrage of criticism following her first briefing in her new role, leading some to question the future of her tenure shortly after she was tapped for the job.,” wrote The Hill.

“Several White House officials are questioning how long Katie Zacharia will keep the press secretary job after her first briefing Tuesday, saying her performance was unlikely to satisfy President Donald Trump,” reported CNN.

Were the criticisms and negative reports fair? Yeah, I think they were. But not entirely. Zacharia’s performance was arguably the worst from the briefing room podium since Karine Jean-Pierre.

And that’s where the media’s sudden concern for competence falls apart.

When Jean-Pierre took over for Jen Psaki as Joe Biden’s press secretary, it was immediately obvious the Biden administration promoted her for her diversity score, not her competence. She was objectively bad at the job. She routinely looked unprepared, dodged questions, and leaned on a massive binder of cheat sheets that often produced answers to completely different questions.

In fact, things got so bad that the White House eventually brought in John Kirby to bail her out.

Even though she was so bad at the job from day one, the media didn’t mock her for being incompetent; they praised her “historic” role as the first lesbian immigrant woman of color to hold the job. Jean-Pierre knew exactly how her diversity score helped her get the job, and she leaned into it. “I am a black, gay, immigrant woman,” she told reporters at her first briefing. “The first of all three of those to hold this position.”

The press took the cue like they were supposed to. “Karine Jean-Pierre held her first briefing as White House press secretary on Monday after making history as the first Black and out LGBTQ person to step into one of the most visible roles in the administration,” CNN reported in its opening paragraph. Business Insider followed suit. “Karine Jean-Pierre made her debut on Monday as White House press secretary, making history as the first Black and openly LGBTQ+ person to serve in the public-facing role,” the outlet wrote. CBS News opened the same way. “Karine Jean-Pierre makes history Monday as the new White House press secretary,” its report began. “The New York native is the first Black and first openly gay LGBTQ+ person to hold the position.”

Now, because Katie Zacharia is straight, white, and serving in the Trump administration, she gets no soft gloves from the media. But, again, I agree her performance was terrible, but it was no worse than Karine Jean-Pierre, and the media never dared to mock her or give a single honest assessment of her job performance.

I’ve seen plenty of conservative outlets and commentators praise Zacharia’s performance today, and it makes me cringe. Maybe Zacharia will grow into the job in time, but I’m not convinced she will.

Whenever Republicans try to talk about men competing in women’s sports, Democrats reach for the same excuse. They insist the problem is too small to bother with.

The Democrat Party has a long and sordid record of waving this issue away like it’s just being exaggerated for partisan purposes.

“This is not really an issue like in Michigan,” Sen. Gary Peters (D-Mich.) said in March 2025 while explaining his opposition to the Protection of Women and Girls in Sports Act. “I think there are hundreds of thousands of athletes, there’s like two individuals that are actually in this situation.”

California Gov. Gavin Newsom read the same talking points. “You’re talking about a very small number of people, very small number of athletes,” he said. He went on to claim the issue had been “weaponized by the right to be 10 times, 100 times, bigger than it is.”

Former Biden White House press secretary Jen Psaki made the same argument to her show on MSNBC (now MSNOW), telling viewers the issue wasn’t even worth debating. Psaki claimed “there are incredibly few examples of transgender girls playing in youth sports, and when we do see these examples, there is no evidence that these kids are a threat to safety or fairness. When I say few examples, I mean that if you count the instances of transgender girls playing youth sports in any single state, the number often rounds to zero.”

Her proof was Utah, which had one.

Democrats Walk Out on Women's Sports

This week, Senate Democrats went a step further and boycotted a hearing on this very issue. On Wednesday, the Senate Judiciary Committee held a hearing titled “Standing Up for Women in Sports: Ensuring Opportunity, Fairness and Safety for Female Athletes.” Committee Democrats boycotted it and offered no witnesses of their own. Before they left, Sen. Dick Durbin (D-Ill.), the panel’s top Democrat, followed Chairman Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa) with an opening statement that wrote off the whole hearing. Durbin argued the topic doesn’t crack the top 10, and maybe not even the top 20, of issues Americans want Congress to handle. More people, he suggested, care about getting “damn cell phones” out of their kids’ schools.

Durbin then leaned on NCAA President Charlie Baker, the former liberal Republican governor of Massachusetts. According to Durbin, Baker told him there are fewer than 10 known transgender athletes among roughly half a million college athletes.

“This vendetta against a small number of people in the trans community affects everyone,” Durbin claimed. His reasoning was that even “cisgender girls” (the Left’s invented label for real girls) would have to endure “inappropriate gender verification checks” to keep male athletes out of their competitions.

Yeah, that’s not how it works.

The Democrats’ message could not be clearer. As far as they’re concerned, this is small potatoes, and the Senate has no business wasting its time on it. A new study just blew that argument apart.

The Numbers Democrats Don't Want You to See

On Tuesday, the Concerned Women for America Legislative Action Committee (CWALAC) released research timed to the hearing. Drawing on HeCheated’s database of documented cases of males competing in female events going back to the mid-1980s, the group found that trans-identifying males have competed in more than 14,301 women’s events at the amateur and professional levels. Along the way, they took more than 2,293 gold medals from women and girls in the United States.

Think about what each of those medals represents.

Every time a male takes first place, the rightful champion drops to second, the real runner-up to third, and another girl misses her moment on the podium entirely. Each stolen medal has a ripple effect that hurts multiple girls at once.

The money adds up too. According to the report, trans-identifying males have pocketed more than $501,498 in prize money from women in professional sports, and that cash belonged to the female athletes they beat. In California alone, more than 611 women and girls finished second to a male competing in the women’s category. That’s Newsom’s state, where the governor assures everyone we’re talking about “a very small number of people.” Every one of these figures has climbed since CWALAC’s previous report in July 2025.

Now, here’s why the Democrats’ math falls apart.

Durbin and Peters count the male athletes, while the study counts the women who lost to them. A single male competitor on a high school track team can enter several events per meet and a dozen meets per season. Over a career, that one athlete can push dozens of girls out of titles, podium spots, and trips to the state finals. Baker’s snapshot of current NCAA rosters says nothing about the high school meets, amateur races, and professional events where the damage piles up. And because HeCheated tracks only recorded cases, 2,293 is the floor, not the ceiling.

“It is shockingly unfair for biological women to have to compete against trans-identifying men,” said Penny Nance, CWALAC’s president and CEO. “Our research finding that trans-identifying males have stolen over 2,293 gold medals from women in the United States is an outrage. Biological men have distinct advantages over biological women. This reality not only puts women in harm’s way, but it eliminates opportunities for biological women to earn a living and win competitions. Congress must act to protect biological women.”

“Congress should pass the Protection of Women and Girls in Sports Act of 2025 (H.R.28/S.9) to prohibit federally funded school athletic programs from allowing males to compete in women’s and girls’ sports; the Protection of Women in Olympic and Amateur Sports Act (H.R.1028/S. 405) to clarify that sports National Governing Bodies must designate women’s sports for women only under their Congressional authorization; and The Title IX Clarification Act (H.R. 8781/S.5179) to clarify that, for purposes of Title IX’s prohibition on discrimination in federally funded education programs and activities, the term ‘sex’ refers solely to an individual’s biological status as male or female,” Nance added.

Democrats also appear to be misreading voters as badly as they misread the numbers. CWA found that 69.3% of Americans say it is very or somewhat important to their vote this election that candidates oppose forcing female athletes to compete against, and share locker rooms with, biological males who identify as female.

“How many more women and girls will be subjected to an uneven playing field?” Nance asked. “It’s time to put an end to this inherent unfairness and protect women’s sports.”

Democrats had a chance to answer that question on Wednesday, and they walked out instead. Meanwhile, the women who lost more than 2,293 gold medals and more than half a million dollars in prize money to male competitors are still waiting for someone in the Democrat Party to decide that real girls matter.

I’ve said for weeks that Sen. Darline Graham (R-S.C.) never deserved to inherit her late brother’s seat in the Senate. Out of fairness, I said she could still prove me wrong and earn South Carolina voters’ trust on her own merits. On Tuesday night, in her one and only runoff debate against Rep. Ralph Norman (R-S.C.), she proved it herself.

Norman and Graham went after each other hard for most of the night, though both sides mostly stayed within the bounds of that Southern politeness we’ve all heard so much about.

On substance, it wasn’t even close. It should end her campaign.
