Michelle Malkin Goes On Tour

Our friend Michelle Malkin is going on tour promoting her book “In Defense of Internment” which I finished last week. It is a really great book, tons of information, well researched, and does an amazing job of presenting another look at history (one that is actually factually accurate as opposed to politically correct)

So Michelle, when are you coming to Boston?

New Book By Hugh Hewitt

Hugh Hewitt, the nationally syndicated radio host, blogger, and columnist for the Daily Standard and WorldNetDaily.com has new book that came out this week called “If It’s Not Close, They Can’t Cheat: Crushing the Democrats in Every Election and Why Your Life Depends on It”.

From the back cover:

In If It’s Not Close, They Can’t Cheat, nationally syndicated radio talk show host Hugh Hewitt refocuses campaign rhetoric and empowers you to alter national policy. Your voice matters. You can influence the outcome. Hewitt’s strategy for change is a straightforward one: Winning elections Though national elections get the most attention, national leaders rise through the ranks from local politics, so winning elections at every level is paramount.

Glenn Reynolds, (a.k.a. Instapundit) says “Hugh Hewitt looks at the evidence, accepts no excuses, and takes no prisoners.”

I received my copy today, and it looks to be very informative holiday weekend reading!

Book Review: “Michael Moore Is A Big Fat Stupid White Man”

The next time a Moore-lover tells you to go see Fahrenheit 911 ask them to read “Michael Moore Is A Big Fat Stupid White Man” first.

“Michael Moore Is A Big Fat Stupid White Man” by David T. Hardy and Jason Clarke is a powerful indictment of author and filmmaker Michael Moore. Hardly a page goes by that doesn’t reveal an inaccuracy, distortion, or flat-out lie perpetrated by Michael Moore.

This book is a must read for Moore-haters, but more importantly for Moore-lovers. They need to read this book more than anyone. “… Big Fat Stupid White Man” will teach them a painful but important lesson about their portly unkempt prophet. After reading this book (over 200 pages of well-researched solid arguments) even Moore-lovers will have a hard time defending Moore’s custom version of the truth – which is precisely the reason why they won’t dare read it.

Special thanks to Jason Clarke, co-author of “Michael Moore Is A Big Fat Stupid White Man” for sending me an advanced copy.

Reading Up A Storm

I’m not one for making book reviews, however, since my last update on my reading ventures, I have completed three books, (all within the caffeinated paradise of Starbucks) and I’m about to start a new one.

As you’ll know from my post Make Room On The Bookshelf I started reading “Basic Economics” by Thomas Sowell in late July. It is a fantastic book that I think everyone should read. It does a fabulous job at demonstrating just how common sense capitalism is, and why it works better than communism – in theory and in practice. Sowell’s use plain English to convey the concepts written in the book would even an uneducated commie liberal sweat.

After finishing Sowell, I read “Off with Their Heads” by Dick Morris. His book goes into some detail on how the America is under attack … not just by terrorists, but by the media, (namely the New York Times, have blemished their reputation as the paper of record to being just a left-leaning propaganda machine), Hollywood apologists, the French, even our own government. Dick Morris’s experiences in the Clinton White House gave him a very interesting and personal account of what was going on behind the scenes.

The really damning information of what happened behind the scenes during the Clinton Administration came from the book I just finished yesterday, “Losing bin Laden” by Richard Miniter. Miniter’s book was incredibly informative, based on lots of interviews, investigative reporting, and some never before reported accounts from people deep within the Clinton Administration paint a troubling tale of how Clinton repeatedly turned down golden opportunities to get Osama bin Laden, and to dismantle the Al Qaeda network – and save the lives of thousands of Americans. Between bureaucratic bungles between various departments in the government, to Clinton’s desire to save himself politically rather than fight terrorism,

It’s hard to read the book and not be enraged over the blatant negligence of our former Commander-In-Chief to protect Americans. I recommend this book for anyone who really wants to understand how Osama bin Laden has been targeting Americans for years, and how the Clinton Administration failed to do anything about him for 8 years.

I am soon to start on Tammy Bruce’s “The Death of Right and Wrong” which shall be quite an interesting read.

Make Room on The Book Shelf!

When I first started this whole blogging thing, and was getting my blog into the whole “scene” I noticed many people would put their Amazon.com Wishlists on their blogs. Seemed a bit weird to me at first, but after a while, when noticed how commonplace this was, I said “Why not?” What’s the worst that can happen?

I’m not the kind of person who asks for freebies and gifts. I don’t expect many gifts for my birthday or the holidays either. However, I thought, “Hey, perhaps there’s someone out there who may decide that he/she likes my blog so much they want to contribute somehow by means of purchasing a book for me to read.”

One kind soul has done this.

George Turner, a commenter on this site, and a member of the Loyal Citizens has done a very kind deed, and purchase a number of titles for me off my Amazon.com Wish List.

The Other Path: The Economic Answer to Terrorism

The Myster of Capital: Why Capitalism Triumphs In The West and Fails Everywhere Else

Off With Their Heads: Traitors, Crooks and Obstructionists in American Poltics, Media and Business

The Death of Right and Wrong: Exposing the Left’s Assaults on Our Culture and Values

How I Accidentally Joined the Vast Right-Wing Conspiracy: (and Found Inner Peace)

The Killing of History: How Literary Critics and Social Theorists are Murdering Our Past

Because of George’s kindness, I am going to read one of these titles next after finishing Basic Economics. Once I am closer to finishing that book, I’ll post a poll for my readers to decide which book I’ll read next.

I would like to once again thank George for doing this. I know that his kindess has gone around quite a bit to other Loyal Citizens, and I greatly appreciate his getting these books for me.

Welcome To The Reading Room

A new category has been initiated in my blog. Welcome to the Reading Room.

The purpose of this category is rather simple. It is to serve as a “forum” for me to talk about the current book I am reading, or talk about my progress reading the book (possibly by writing about specific things I’ve just read that I find particularly interesting)

The first thing I am going to report in the Reading Room is that I finished The Savage Nation this afternoon. I decided to take a couple hours relaxing at Starbucks to finish it off, since reading the book during my lunch break at work proved to not be as simple a task as I expected. Which is unfortunate, but the truth of the matter is that I have a very limited amount of time to read. I buy books at a much faster rate than I read them.

On that note, I received two more books that I ordered online recently. “Treason”, by Ann Coulter, and and “Breakdown” by Bill Gertz.

Now, since these have been recently purchased and I have other books that I received that have been waiting to be read, I’m going to read one of the other books first. THere are a number of books that I’ve purchased before “Treason” and “Breakdown”, and I’m hoping my readers can help me decide on one of these books before Monday morning. I’ve narrowed the selection to three from which you should choose.

1. “Basic Economics” by Thomas Sowell
2. “Dereliction of Duty” by Robert Patterson
3. “Useful Idiots” by Mona Charen

I’d like to know what my readers recommend I read next. Ultimately, the decision is mine, but I will take all posters suggestions into consideration.
