Windows Vista Demonstrates Microsoft’s Mac Envy

By Matt Margolis | January 30, 2007

I recently checked out some of the features of the newly released Windows Vista.

I’ve been a loyal Mac user since 2003 (when I made the switch from PC) and couldn’t help being amused how the new features of Windows Vista are echoes of features that us Mac users have been enjoying for years.

Windows Flip 3D is is a pathetic imitation of Apple’s Exposé.
Windows Sidebar and Gadgets is a pathetic imitation of Apple’s Dashboard.
Windows Instant Search is a pathetic imitation of Apple’s Spotlight.

There are other obvious pathetic imitations of Macintosh’s iTunes, iPhoto, etc., etc. It’s really laughable. Microsoft ought to be ashamed that after 5+ years of waiting for Windows Vista that they couldn’t even produce something original, instead they’ve offered a cheap knockoff of a superior operating system.

I love the blog that you have. I was wondering if you would link my blog to yours and in return I would do the same for your blog. If you want to, my site name is American Legends and the URL is:

    http://www.americanlegends.blogspot.com

If you want to do this just go to my blog and in one of the comments just write your blog name and the URL and I will add it to my site.

    Thanks,
    Mark

While some of the features of Windows Vista do get their genesis from Mac, there are a number of features that Windows has always had that Apple has buggered from day one.

Recovery of documents when your system crashes…. and when MACs crash…it ain’t pretty… is far superior in Windows. Microsoft software dig down is quite good, and installing software is also easy. My mother has a MAC and I struggled with it for three hours trying to get Open Office to install…. but it would not. Want to know why? Oh, because fucking X11 kept telling me that it needed certain permissions to install. Well, I gave it the permissions, then, after some struggle, it told me that X11 was already installed. So I go to try and install Open Office again and I’ll be god damned if it told me again that X11 was not in-friggin-stalled. I downloaded three separate versions of X11 for MAC trying to get it to work, and was told, in no uncertain terms, that what the person was instructing me to do should work, and that if it wasn’t, then it was something I was doing wrong… what utter crap.

Forgive the slight profanity….. it was quite the slap though, because I had actually advised my mom to buy a MAC having stupidly (and most liberal like) bought into the asinine propaganda about the ease of use and user friendliness of MAC… utter sophistry.

While you may laugh at Vista…. but let’s look at the market and see who’s on top. There’s a reason that almost no one owns MAC, and it ain’t because of the behemoth monopolist Microsoft has kept them down… it’s because Windows, in spite of itself, is better in almost every way than OS X.
