Cheney And Rummy

By Matt Margolis | February 4, 2006

I couldn’t help being amused at this photo of Dick Cheney and Donald Rumsfeld back in 1975:

John Kerry, on the other hand, was scary in his early days:

Of course, John Kerry is scary at any age.

Kerry was an innovator - one of the first to get a nose job and jaw “adjustment.” Deviated septum, riiight.

Rumor has it a lobotomy too? Would explain some things…

This picture is his famous “about to suck money from a rich woman” face. I think it’s from a star trek episode.

I really like that other picture of Rummy, when he’s shaking hands with Saddam Hussein.

Yes, we did try the peaceful way first didn’t we? Just like Roosevelt and Truman shaking hands with Stalin. And how about when JFK shook hands with Khrushchev - right before he built the Berlin Wall?

By peaceful, Kahn, do you mean supplying them with arms to fight against Iran? Is that peaceful, or does it cause more instability for the Middle East?

Let me guess PurpleJay, this is also about the WMD you said we gave them that you said they never had?

Eh? What does WMD have to do with an arms deal? We gave them weapons to fight Iran. Look it up. It’s typical policy when there’s problems in the region. Reagan was infamous for it, especially in Central and South America, but also the Middle East.

And no, no WMDs have been found in Iraq, oh King of Spin.

I’m not talking arms.. i’m talking about how in the days and months before the war in Iraq the left went back and forth between “there are no WMDs” and “of course tey have WMDs, we gave them to them…” the typical liberal “have it both ways” strategy.

Well, I never said that cause I don’t believe it. They had no WMDs so our reasons for going there, no matter what you, were illegitimate.

Do you even care to address the fact that we supplied Iraq with arms, that Rummy shook hands with a tyrant? No? You just wanna skirt around it? Aha! Now, THAT is the typical GOP response!

at different times in history, our country has sided with lots of people in opposition of a common enemy… this isn’t new… at one point our country sided with stalin…

Purple Haze - What arms deals? There wasn’t one. Please provide some military items, quantities, or dates. Good luck finding them. We never gave him anything.

“Sarkis Soghanalian is the arms dealer who armed Iraq. During the war between Iraq and Iran, despite a worldwide embargo, Sarkis sold billions in arms to Saddam Hussein.

This Lebanese Armenian has made a career out of breaking international embargoes” (60 minutes 1/31/91 as provided to the U.S. House)

Now, we did sell him chemicals. Well, some people did - not the government.

The small arms he had were a smattering of mostly eastern block. But there were some of everything. American Rifleman one of the NRA magazines) had a pretty good explanation of them.

The tanks, artillary, rockets, and planes were all either Russian or eastern block. So, what weapons systems do you think we supplied him with? Phaser guns?

Still no answer? No dawning realization that we didn’t give him any weapons systems you can name? no clue that you bought into yet another piece of liberal dis-information?

Oh wait. I remember. We gave him cloaking devices and photon torpedos.

    Puple Jay,

I apologize - I just heard that it was Romulan disrupters. The CIA did it so the weapons couldn’t be traced back the Federation.
