CharlieCards
By Matt Margolis | December 27, 2005
I just learned about the new CharlieCards that are to be implemented on the MBTA in 2006… I have to say I like the idea. In fact, I’ve been waiting for the MBTA to modernize its old system and follow in the footsteps of the NYC and DC Metros.
Apparently, some people are already crying “Big Brother.”

I don’t get it. All it sounds like is that they are giving you a new card that did the same thing as the old one did.
About that Big Brother cry, of course the left is upset. They are terrorist sympathizers, after all.

I’m sure they have no problem using credit cards, cell phones, cable tv and TiVo, and other types of technology which would also put them in a position to have their purchases, phone calls, tv watching habits etc. monitored…

I remember when Giant (super market chain in the mid-atlantic) started their “BonusCard” thing, which is a card that you scan that will discount money off of products if they are on sale, because it tracked what you bought and sent you coupons in the mail once in a while. Anything that they can complain about, they will.
