Star Wars: Revenge Of The Left

By Matt Margolis | May 30, 2005

I saw Star Wars Episode III: Revenge Of The Sith tonight. While I had heard about the political undertones of the movie, I expected that they wouldn’t be as bad as they were made out to be. I was wrong. They were as bad, if not worse. Nevertheless, I still enjoyed the movie.

Remember that this movie was written thirty years ago. If Lucas had an agenda, it was against LBJ/Nixon and Vietnam. Typical Neocon BS again. Fear and Loathing in D.C.

The movie had digs at the Bush Administration. The Emporer used the word “resolve”, and “safety and security” to justify taking over, Darth Vader said “If you’re not with us, you’re against us.” and Queen Padimi said “So this is how liberty ends–to thunderous applause.”

Right, hence, the screenplay wasn’t written 20+ years ago.

I was watching a “West Wing” rerun on Bravo the other night when they went on a rant about Republicans not wanting to fix Social Security and how private accounts would make sense. What do you think the odds of them using that language in a new episode are?

    Hollywood.

No - not sure. Too bad - you’re right.

They may be anti-Bush digs, they may not be, but Lucas modeled the Empire after Nazi Germany and the Johnson administration, if I’m not mistaken. The “thunderous applause” line could have applied to Hitler, who was given “emergency powers” much in the same way that Palpatine was.

I like Bush because he’s willing to protect CAPTIOLISM and give everyone
    the opportunity to enjoy Capitolism.

Capitolism can even be fun too!

    I even thought about starting
    the “Capitolist Party”

And the only simple rule to the Capitolist Party is you have to have a desire to enjoy capitolism.

(I’m quite sure the Liberals would hate me on that one lol!)

If it wasn’t for capitolism we wouldn’t have the great things like Microsoft, Linux, computers, awesome cars, etc.
(Yes I’m a materialistic pig but hell. We need to spread capitolism around the planet. And competition is great.

As long as we have capitolism, everything will run stable.

Who thinks the GOP would back the “Capitolist Party”?

And WTF is up with these commmunist parties in America? WTF?

We need MORE Corporations started up!!!

We need to come up with some IDEAS to protect capitolism in America.

    Capitolism also creates jobs too.
And gets people off welfare and saves government money too!!!

Besides it is the American dream. Capitolism, and Militarism! (Militaries are needed to DEFEND the Freedom of Capitolism.

    Sincerely,
    The Capitolist Party
