Sunday, February 27th, 2005I am not going to be watching the Academy Awards tonight. Why not? Because of Chris Rock. It’s not that I’m easily offended… I just think Chris Rock is a racist… or at the very least, gets laughs out of making racist jokes.
I’ve had a real problem with Chris Rock since the 2001 Super Bowl. Back then I wrote a weekly column for my school paper, The Informer, at the University of Hartford, that editorial did not make it to the web archives on The Informer’s website, so I’ll republish it here:

Living Wills
Wednesday, February 23rd, 2005With the Terri Schiavo case back in the news causing outrage, I encourage everyone out there to create a living will to make their wishes known to their family. The reality of this case to me seems to be that if Terri Schiavo’s wishes had been documented and made known to her family that this wouldn’t be in the news today. We all have our opinions about this case and others like it. There is a good chance that soon enough there will be nothing we can do about it, so the best thing to do is learn from this case, and get a living will, send copies to your family and remove any doubt about what you want to happen to you if you ever become in a vegetative state.
Here’s one site that allows you to answer questions to develop a custon living will. I suggest you do your own research as well to know for sure what is required in your state.
People may disagree about what should be Terry Schiavo’s fate, but we should all be able to agree that we don’t want our families going through an ordeal like Terri Schiavo’s family has. So use this site, or by any means you feel necessary… I do suggest you do your own research as well to know for sure what is required in your state.
UPDATE: I’d like to see BlogsForTerri champion this too…
UPDATE: They haven’t….
CPAC 2005
Wednesday, February 16th, 2005For the remainder of this week, I won’t be blogging here at MattMargolis.com, but I’ll be blogging heavily at GOP Bloggers while I cover CPAC 2005 as a credentialed blogger.

The Keyes To Stupidity
Sunday, February 13th, 2005Via Political Teen, I get this story about Alan Keyes’s and his wife disowning and throwing their lesbian daughter of their house.
First of all let me say, I am no fan of Alan Keyes… I think he is a moron, and I heard him talking to reporters at the Republican National Convention, and I was unimpressed. Even though he is a Republican, I would have found myself more likely to not voted for any candidate in his election vs. Barack Obama if I was a citizen of Illinois. This kind of thing makes my opinion of him even less.
MBT-Mobile
Friday, February 11th, 2005The T is going wireless.
On subway lines in downtown Boston, passengers will soon be able to use cell phones without interruption as trains whisk them through tunnels that used to be among the few places wireless signals couldn’t reach.
“This will be a new convenience for our customers,” T General Manager Michael Mulhern said yesterday. “And it will be a benefit to safety and security, so we’re excited about it.”
Wrong… this will be a new annoyance for their customers… As someone who usually goes to Boston 2-3 times a week, I think having cell phone access on the trains is going to make travelling on the T even more irritating.
UPDATE: Dan Flynn posts the top ten things he hates about public transportation… I can agree and/or empathize with them all. I’d have make number 11: The women who were so much perfume that you can’t breathe when they’re on the train.
Daou Reporting For Duty At Salon
Wednesday, February 9th, 2005i have to admit I make regular visits to The Daou Report — frankly I found it to be good site. I have to say I was shocked to discover The Daou Report is now owned and branded by Salon.com — a site few people visit anymore.
Perhaps for Peter Daou this is a step up. I imagine however, Salon.com needs him more then he needs them. Of course this stands to hurt The Daou Report because now in order to access it, you have to either subscribe to Salon.com or go through the annoying free day pass crap, and quite honestly, I’ve never paid to view online content before, and don’t plan to start now. The Daou Report might be a decent centralized resource of blog story links, but that doesn’t mean I’m going to support Salon.com (or sit through a stupid ad) in order to access it.
Generally speaking, the Drudge Report is a collection of links. Links to stories that, chances are, most people could find if they had the time to look. I’d never pay for the Drudge Report, and I’m glad I am on a Macintosh with web browsers that block pop-ups, because anytime I visit Drudge on a Windows machine the pop-ups drive me insane.
I remember struggling over the decision to enforce comment registration over at Blogs For Bush, worrying that enabling that protective measure would discourage readers from participating. I’m not sure if this was the best move for The Daou Report.
HAT TIP: Patrick Ruffini
UPDATE: Peter Daou tells me he believes that the “increased readership that Salon brings would help [him] bring attention to lesser known blogs.” Time will tell if this strategy works.
Living On No Prayer
Wednesday, February 9th, 2005NewsMax reports that Bon Jovi, a Democrat would back Republican Arnold Schwarzenegger for President.
However, Arnold cannot run for President because he’s foreign born. So that’s too bad for Bon Jovi.
