ODub’s Selective Vision
By Matt Margolis | January 31, 2005
In the minutes following the new of Hillary collapsing, ODub goes over to FreeRepublic to gauge their reaction, and cherrypicks quotes to suit his stereotype.
I’m not going to defend the quotes he selected to put on his site, but I’ll just show you he decided to ignore completely:
“Offering prayers”
“Wish her the best in regards to her health…”
“OMG Prayers for her!”
“I hope she is alright and wish her a speedy recovery.”
“Let’s be gracious and generous and send best wishes for her recovery.”
“All politics aside, I wish her well.”
That’s just a few within the first 100 comments…

I dunno where you get off accusing “ODub” of cherry-picking anything. True, some of the folks posting on there showed some human decency in the posts, but the majority of the first 50 coherent responses were negative than positive. Willis is “cherry-picking” the majority response. So it’s great that there are some human beings who gave you those quotes (and yeah, you quote pretty much ALL of the positive remarks in the first 100 replies). But don’t forget some others:
“Prayers for her (as long as she is not in league with Satan).” “I’m legitimately concerned for Hillary, but it’s hard not to laugh at that..” and of course “ROTFLMAO!” I think Willis’ point is well-made. I think you’re the one who is “cherry-picking.”

The comments you list are the default comments that *any* decent human being would make. You don’t congratulate people for doing what they’re supposed to do in the first place. He showed the INhumanity of the freepers. The comments they made were reprehensible.

I’m looking forward to you directing the same criticism towards blogs and biased media outlets that attact Democratic Underground in the same “cherrypicking” fashion.
