Do Liberals Ever Focus on The Point?
By Matt Margolis | January 30, 2005
As pathetic as it is that liberal bloggers didn’t have anything else to talk about besides Vice President Dick Cheney’s attire at Auschwitz, another dumb liberal blogger criticized my defense of Cheney… and was so completely off the point I have to wonder if he even read my blog entry… This blogger seems to think my beef was the actual use of a photo to criticize someone. In a blog entry titled “It’s almost as if they’re too stupid to realize their blog has a search button,” August J. Pollak writes,
Blogs for Bush is pretending to be outraged at Oliver, Kos, etc. for pointing out how ridiculous (and damaging) Dick Cheney’s decision to whip out his 9/11 Tourist of Death costume was.
For the record, I was not pretending. Nevertheless, the moron goes through the process of sifting through Blogs For Bush (B4B) locating blog entries that include photos—as if that somehow means something:
Which, I guess, makes sense, as pointing out a photo of someone is just juvenile.
We post photos all the time… Is he that stupid he needs to use the search button to figure that out?
Okay, so it’s just the responses from their commentors. They can’t be held responsible. I mean, the actual site owners wouldn’t post a picture and talk about how badly it affects a candidate.
Of course we do. And when it’s funny, we post it under the ‘Humor’ category. Again, I never suggested I had a problem with a liberal blogger posting a photo.
And they would certainly never link to other blogs that did the same.
This guy clearly wasted his time trying to prove that we use photos at B4B… I could have told him that and saved him the time and effort.
In fact, the entire “let’s make fun of ridculous photos” thing is totally beneath them.
It’s amazing isn’t it? We used a photo for caption contest… Wow…
Why this guy obsessed over B4B’s use of photos and completely avoided address the defense of Cheney’s attire is beyond me. This idiot blogger wasted all that time searching for posts on B4B that contained photos, instead of addressing the real issue. If morons like ODub and Kos want to post photos and criticize what’s depicted in them then good for them… we all do it.
They’re so pathetic.

Cheney At Auschwitz
Scott over at Slant Point reacts to the media’s attacks on Dick Cheney’s attire at the memorial service in Auschwitz yesterday. The media has opted not to tell an important part of that story. UPDATE: Preliminary research has revealed to…

Who is Matt Margolis?
That was the first question that popped into my mind when I perusing through the GOPBloggers site. I came here to this link to do some research and then it occurred to me, why should it matter who Mr. Margolis is? See, I keep making the same mistake of thinking that somewhere out on the Internet there will be some voice of reason. How naive. After the elections, I checked in and debated on a democrat’s web and found it frustrating. They just harp on how to beat the GOP the next time. All the sites like this one on the GOP side just talk about the losers and whiners and revel in all their glory. It amazes me. With all the promise of Internet, it isn’t used as a tool to further society, but used like passing notes in 7th grade study hall. As with any tool though, it becomes a reflection of the person, or in this case, the society that uses it. How immature can we be as a society? The last election was at the same level of a 7th grade class president election. The Dem’s try to pick a candidate that could match the current President, and find a perfect one, the hypocrite Kerry. We have an Administration that can never admit it is wrong. A classic sign of immaturity. Also, they believe if they say it enough times, in must be true. Let’s blame Clinton. Or Reagan. Let’s not be accountable. Another disturbing aspect is the lack of conservative Republicans. Where are they? The spending increases, the growth of “Big” government? States rights, the Patriot Act? Other than the tax cuts, where are the conservatives out there to bring this Administration back? I guess it is more important to chant “nah-na-nah-na boo boo”? In this society of lip-syncing pop stars, country music songs linking Iraq to September 11th, moronic blogs discussing who is better - Brady or Manning, and one of the best, “Main Stream Media”, (If anyone actually took the time to find out, the media is owned. Look it up yourself to find out how it works rather than blaming them when their rhetoric doesn’t match yours.), how can we expect any maturity or accountability?
When are we going to grow up and work together? When are we going to stop just thinking about “us” as individuals and start thinking about “us” as a society? Is this a hard concept? Is this not what the country should be working towards?
(VP Cheney and what he is wearing?!? He has a heart condition, etc…)
My slant, you ask? I’m a libertarian. (I also am going bald, wear glasses and have a pot belly, if y’all need more ammunition, because I sincerely doubt that any constructive dialogue will come of this…)
I mentioned the idea of the Internet being a reflection of society, and here’s another that might sum up my frustration. Sometimes an outsider might see us much more clearly than we can ourselves. It involved a “Hollywood” actor, our elections and the Palestinian elections.

Interesting what Mr. Manar An Najar has to say.
Now before everyone’s head explodes, let’s think about this, conduct a thought experiment and exercise some objectivity here. This man is a soap factory worker. Do we know where he gets his information? If he didn’t know Mr. Gere, wouldn’t he just Google him on the Internet? He mustn’t have a PC then. Does he have a TV and is he getting Fox News, CNN, or Al-Jazera? (Could be our liberal media, but let’s table that conclusion at this time.) Maybe a radio and their version of Rush Limbaugh? How about from the leaders of his country? Whatever the outlet, this concept was put into his consciousness. Isn’t this a red flag for our country? Is this a true perception? If it is, should we then be working and playing well with others? Will we be carrying the big stick forever? What about economically? Is the pen mightier than the sword? Are not these the questions to be asked? If they are, who is asking them? I cannot find these type issues being debated and solved. If it isn’t a true perception, then why not? Because we are better than them? Because it’s your, or Clinton’s fault? Because the Simpsons are on?
Either way, isn’t it time to work on these types of issues together, as a society?

Tj - well thanks. Not every first time poster posts a full manifesto and calls everyone stupid on both the left and the right.
Might I direct you to this web site:
http://www.westegg.com/unmaintained/carnegie/win-friends.html
This is Dale Carnegie’s summary of his book, “How to Win Friends and Influence People” from 1936
If anything, you might brush up on your “people skills”.
I know several Libertarians. I strongly agree with the parties view on the 2nd Amendment - well, there actually is the rub - several friends of mine who are in you party are strong 2nd Amendment advocates. BUT - I can find no consistent message coming from your party. Maybe you can convert me? Pick 10 issues, and fill us in?

Gee, here’s a surprise! Just as I expected! Let’s not discuss issues, but direct ME how to win friends and influence others. Clearly my fault. Blame me.
“Stupid” is a judgement you made. I made observations in which I see no evidence provided to disprove them.
And as for the party? I need to convert you? Did you even read what was stated?
I will apologize for the length of the post. I forgot that they need to be short so people can read them between their morning coffee and constitutional.

I’ll make one more apology gang.
Sorry for making some posts here. I had an expectation level set in my mind and thought I could get some traction here with these “crazy” ideas.
Kahn, you’re right, people skills are necessary in trying to introduce different ideas to an established forum.(I must admit though, I didn’t take this site for pushing the “Politically Correct” agenda, but there is still a thing called “Common Courtesy”.) As a great song writer once wrote, “Good manners and bad breath get you no where”.
And for Matt, no disrespect intended. I’m sure you’re a fine and upstanding human being. You got a wild thing going on with Oliver and it’s a hoot.
All - Enjoy life and be safe.

Tj - Whatever. So, do yoy have a point? The only real peeve I have is posts that don’t have anything to do with the topic of the blog. But hey, I’ve done that also.

I also hate it when I spot an obvious spelling mistake just as I hit enter.
