Gregoire Starts To Leave Her Fingerprints…

By Matt Margolis | January 25, 2005

A sign of confidence? A sign of doubt? Whatever it is, Christine Gregoire is already trying to leave her fingerprints in Washington state by offering a job to Nebraska’s corrections director Harold Clarke to head Washington’s prison system.

Clarke’s appointment requires confirmation of the state Senate. This would be Gregoire’s first significant out-of-state hire. Perhaps it is more significant then meets the eye.

Gregoire knows very well that her legitimacy is being challenged. Her future as governor is not certain—she knows this. If the election that took her to office is thrown out and Rossi wins a re-vote, as governor, he can hire or fire anyone he wants. Gregoire has picked someone she knows Rossi would never fire.

Harold Clarke, if confirmed, would become the state’s first African American to head the state Department of Corrections. He may certainly be qualified for the job, but if Rossi ultimately became governor, he would likely replace a variety of appointments made by Gregoire—afterall, a legitimate governor would deserve to purge the state of illegitimately made appointments. Gregoire would be correct to assume Dino Rossi, if he ultimately became governor would not want to fire the state’s first African American to head the state Department of Corrections.

This could be a sign that Gregoire fears for her job, and is desperate leave her fingerprints and make them as permanent as possible.

Matt - So whats up? No liberal comebacks on any posts for days. Think they have seen the light?

I posted a reply earlier, but, probably for obscure formatting reasons, it did not show up.

So, you are not arguing that Gregoire is showing weakness by hiring the best person for the job?? I guess that if Bush nominated someone good for a job (I know this is a hypothetical, and that he has not done so, but please work with me here) that would mean that he admits to voter fraud in Ohio?

    Dan,

Who would, in your infinate wisdom be more qualified than Condi Rice for Secretary of State? I’m white - and I’m looking forward to voting for her in four years. Or, is that it. Better to sling mud now as prep for 2008?

Kahn - by Matt’s logic, if you think that she is the best person for the job, then Bush fears for his job, and is trying to leave fingerprints on the presidency.

Congratulations on being white - you seem to be proud of it.

Dan - you moron. The difference is that Gregoire has a very shakey claim on her office. But - I was just pointing out how hypocritical you are. And - you didn’t actually answer my question - did you?

Proud of being white - you pip. Your influence wanes every day. Keep talking. It only helps more people realize what an ass you are.

Your question was off the point. Your excitement about being white is inexplicable, and even more off the point. Your claim that my influence wanes is funny - I don’t claim to have any.

But, if you really want to know who should be SOS - I really don’t know the cast of available republicans well enough to pick one. Danforth would be my pick of the crop, but it’s not my job to choose Bush’s lineup.

My question - which you still refuse to answer was not off the point since it was in response to YOUR post (were you off topic then?)

My being white was inteded to show that when Condi runs - she could acyually win, black or not. The concept of actually having a credible black candidte must be foreign to you.

And, gosh this hard- aren’t a sophmore by now - does everything need to be explained to you? - I mean simply that the influence of all wacko liberal lefty idiots is going away. Largely due to the fact that you are assholes. Its like you are from some planet that is all assholes.

But - maybe you should write President Kerry about it?
    HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
    You bitter idiot.

Whoa, Khan, settle down now. Drunk commenting is a crime in several states.

I admit that my parenthetical comment was slightly off-topic - hence the parenthetical nature of the comment.

Your point about being white, if I can understand your odd spelling and unorthodox grammar, is that you think it is worthy of comment that you, a white person, would actually vote for a black person. I’m happy for you, Kahn - I’ve been voting for black people for as long as I’ve been voting. Good to see that you’re following my lead. Keep up the good work!!

As for the question which I allegedly refuse to answer, what is it? You asked who would be more qualified than Rice, and I gave you a quite serious answer - and a religious Republican to boot!

Whay answer? I must have missed it.

You made a comment about Washington State into a comment on George Bush and his choices for government posts. I am getting that correct right?

And yes - I’m white. So what? Does saying I am actually mean anything? Careful there - semantic trap.

Oh and please - these non-spell checked blog windows kill me. I could go through your posts also if you’d like to get bogged down in that kind of crap. And i don’t believe you are a Republicanm at all.

Oh - and I don’t drink. Now run back to studying. You have school in the morning.

Kahn, you don’t do well on reading comprehension tests, do you? First off, I have never said that I am a “republicanm”. I am not, and have not been one since many years ago, when I first read the Bible.

Secondly, my point in dragging Bush into a post about Gregoire was to show how weak Matt’s logic was - placing good people into jobs is not evidence that an executive fears for his or her job. I was using something called an analogy - look it up.

Third, next to your constant mentioning of your whiteness, you seem to be fixated on my education. I have no idea how that is relevant, but thanks for caring.

I worked under Director Clarke In Nebraska, He is an exceptional leader, motivator and a man with a vision; Washington is fortunate to have him.
