Barbara Boxer Signs Democrats’ Death Warrant
By Matt Margolis | January 6, 2005
I have to say I’m shocked she actually decided to do it…
Sen. Barbara Boxer, D-Calif., signed a challenge mounted by House Democrats to Ohio’s 20 electoral votes, which put Bush over the top. By law, a protest signed by members of the House and Senate requires both chambers to meet separately for up to two hours to consider it. Lawmakers are allowed to speak for no more than five minutes each.
“I have concluded that objecting to the electoral votes from Ohio is the only immediate way to bring these issues to light by allowing you to have a two-hour debate to let the American people know the facts surrounding Ohio’s election,” Boxer wrote in a letter to Rep. Stephanie Tubbs Jones, D-Ohio, a leader of the Democratic effort.

In the words of my junior senator:
Bring. It. On.
This will really help the Dems hone their image and let the voters know wat they’re made of.

This is NOT about “death of the Democrats.” This is about PRESERVING our PRECIOUS DEMOCRACY! Get past your narrow, one-sided views and support election reform for the sake of OUR ENTIRE COUNTRY!

this is a real waste of time

Matt’s right; Kara’s wrong. If this were about election reform, they would be after a state with real problems, not Ohio. If this is about political grandstanding and perhaps a faint hope of reversing the election, they would go after Ohio, the state that could reverse the results and put John Kerry in the white house. Why didn’t the Democrats complain about election fraud in Illinois following the 1960 election that made JFK president? Because they won. Period.

That was 45 years ago, and if Kennedy had lost the liberal Republicans probably would still be around because of continued electoral success. Or Watergate would have happened earlier.
Let’s see how the “liberal media” spins this whole debacle.

Neither Boxer nor anybody else expects this to change the result of the election. The truth remains, though, that there WERE problems in Ohio - problems that any fair-minded person should want examined - not to change the result, but to help assure that future elections are fair. You’re right, Richard, that somebody should have exhibited a similar level of integrity in 1960 - but Boxer was not in the Senate then. I think she’s a courageous person to raise these issues in the face of the hostility exhibited by foolish people who are happy to have won the election.

Boxer is brave? Because she started a new six year term this week and has been rumored to be planning to retire after this term? Why didn’t ANY other brave Democrat senators protest with her? Where were JFK2 and Hillary?
But - they can do whatever they want and I don’t really care. All I know, is that Frist should let her know that anything she votes yes on is doomed so long as we hold the House, the Senate, or the White House.
Does anyone know if we built the commitees so we have a two persom majority on each? Thats the way the Dems ran the Senate. We did NOT last time - and we saw the results.

Right Response
You absolutely have to love the Right in this nation. Just take a look at what happened today and then take a look at their response.
House member Stephanie Tubbs Jones, District 11 of Ohio, along with the help of California Senator Barbara Boxer…

Well, I read that page and I still don’t get it. Do you? The Dems said they were not trying to change the results. Well, then maybe they should have chosen a different venue than the one that validated the results. But honestly - I have given up trying to convert you liberals and have settled into life in the state of Vendetta.
I again call for a Constitutional Convention. With this widening rift in Politics, I think its time to change the rules.
