Pro-Abortion Groups Fear Bush’s Nominees

Friday, December 24th, 2004

Andrea Yates and Susan Smith may be in jail, but the armies of women who consider themselves mainstream—but think it’s okay to kill unborn children—fight on, and they are angry as ever. Earlier today, Nancy Keenan, president of the pro-abortion group released a statement in response to President Bush’s renominating twenty for federal judgeships whom Senate Democrats denied an up-or-down vote. “”It looks like Jerry Fallwell got his Christmas wish list into the President on time,” Keenan said, “but even if he drops these nominations down the Senate’s chimney, there’s nothing he can do to make them any less out of the American mainstream. Why doesn’t the President understand that all anyone is asking for is judges who’ll respect personal freedom and privacy?”

The President of Planned Parenthood Federation of America, Gloria Feldt, is another Scrooge this holiday season. “The holidays are supposed to be a time of peace and community,” she said, “Instead President Bush has decided to re-nominate judges who do not uphold our fundamental human and civil right to make our own childbearing choices.”

Both Keenan’s and Feldt’s sentiments are morally equivalent to saying slavery should be legal because Americans have right to own property.

It’s very sad that the Pro-Abortion Gestapo have to demonize people who are so “out of the mainstream” to believe that all life is valuable and precious.

From Ohio To Washington… And Back Again

Thursday, December 23rd, 2004

Bush’s margin of victory over Kerry in Ohio was approximately 119,000 votes.

Gregoire’s alleged margin of victory over Rossi in Washington is 8 votes. 129 votes*

Why does this matter? What’s the big picture? It matters because both elections resulted in recounts. The former was funded partly by third party candidates, and the Kerry campaign – the differences in the results were negligible. The latter race initially resulted in a 261 vote victory for Rossi. This triggered an automatic recount, which Rossi won again by 41 votes.

In Ohio, allegations of tampering with voting machines were found to be baseless. In Washington, over 700 ballots magically appeared from Democratic stronghold King County during the manual recount. Suspicious to any objective observer.

The reactions of liberals to both these elections has been very similar: Just keep recounting and hope the results change. Alledge this and claim that… In Ohio, Bush’s victory was well outside what I call the “margin of fraud,” but in Washington, the margin of victory for either candidate was easily susceptible to shady practices that could alter the income. Within the margin of fraud.

However, the moment Gregoire was declared—by Democrats—to be the winner by a mere 8 votes, Rossi was called on to concede and liberals across the country and the blogosphere were ecstatic.

To them, a 8 vote victory by a Democrat is more definitive than a 119,000 vote victory by a Republican—and not just any Republican, but George W. Bush.

The Democratic Underground community began celebrating, suggesting that Rossi “concede and get over it.” They also found plenty of ways to champion the 8 vote Gregoire “victory.” Rossi’s initial victory was 33 times larger, and after the first recount 5 times larger…after which Gregoire did not concede.

How many licks does it take to get to the Tootsie Roll center of a Tootsie Pop? How many recounts does it take before you can find enough votes for the Democrat to win?

Recounts in Ohio have had little impact on the results, no tampering was involved, and the vote was certified, yet they still hold out hope that somehow Kerry may have won in despite nearly the 119,000 more votes cast for Bush than Kerry in the state. Eight votes (based on Democrats’ number crunching) in Washington, however, is a done deal?

How long will they contest Ohio and watch the result remain static and their conspiracy theories debunked before they “concede and get over it?”

Liberals cannot claim a definitive victory in Washington without conceding Ohio first. If Kerry can concede, so can they. Instead, they act as if the definition of democracy is the victory of their candidate and their candidate only.

But, democracy is not limited to the victory of their preferred candidates, and they have to learn that sooner than later. Battles are won and lost and crying foul every time you lose does not make you a concerned citizen, but rather a sore loser.

No matter what happens in Washington, the Democrats are the sore losers.

* - The 8 vote margin refers to the first result of the manual recount as reported yesterday. Subsequent reports indiciate the final margin was 10 votes. — then 129 after the the found ballots were included

Washington Court OKs Counting “Houdini Ballots”

Wednesday, December 22nd, 2004

Washington state’s Supreme Court will allow those magical mystery ballots from King County to be counted in the highly contested gubernatorial race between Gregoire and Rossi.

King County is a Democratic stronghold, the biggest county in the state and the last to report results from the statewide hand recount that began Dec. 8.

The ruling was a boost to the Democrats, who even before the decision were claiming victory, saying their own analysis showed that even without the belated ballots, Gregoire had erased Republican Dino Rossi’s slim lead and won the race by just eight votes out of 2.9 million cast.

Is it over now? I don’t know. If Gregoire is inaugurated as Governor, a majority of Washington state will probably not consider her to be a legitimate governor.

Sound Politics continues to cover this election.

Eight Vote “Victory” Within The Margin of Fraud

Wednesday, December 22nd, 2004

The latest suggests that Democrat Christine Gregoire has now won the gubernatorial race in Washington over Dino Rossi by a mere eight votes.

The head of the state Democratic Party said late Tuesday that recount results from King County give Democrat Christine Gregoire an eight-vote victory in the closest governor’s race in state history.

Neither King County nor the Republican party could confirm the hand recount results on Tuesday night. But if the Democrats’ analysis is correct, it’s a stunning reversal in the gubernatorial race, which has been hotly contested ever since election day.

Republican Dino won the first count by 261 votes and won a machine recount by 42 votes.

“We’re confident Christine Gregoire has been elected the governor of the state of Washington,” Democratic Chairman Paul Berendt said. “I believe Dino Rossi should concede.”

Something seems strange about this. I wouldn’t throw in the towel yet. Mr. Berendt thinks Rossi should concede so quickly after an unconfirmed 8 vote margin, but a 42 vote lead was something that enough money being put into recounts could beat?

A Rossi spokesperson said “It’s just too close to call,” and that Republicans are looking at the data also.

It’s just a coincidence that Democrats somehow managed to count a Democrat victory right? Eight votes? In a manual recount, I think that’s within the margin of fraud.

Berendt and Democratic party officials reached their conclusion after crunching numbers supplied by King County. The county has finished tallying its 900,000 ballots, but election officials said they still need to reconcile differences in the precinct totals.

See, this is where this whole thing gets fuzzy. Democrats “crunched numbers.”

That’s not enough to convince me. Why on earth would Berendt want Rossi to concede when the results haven’t been truly finalized? Does Berendt and the Democratic party not want these results to scrutinized? Did they toss in just enough ballots to skim a victory?

No Evidence of Election Tampering in Ohio

Tuesday, December 21st, 2004

Liberal conspiracy theorists beware, they’ve been dealt a devestating blow today, with the AP reporting that there has been no evidence of vote tampering with the electronic voting machines in Ohio.

Election officials watched Monday as a technician repeated a repair he had made to a vote tallying computer, then announced they had found no evidence of any sort of tampering, despite a congressman’s request for an FBI probe.

Observers, including a Green Party representative who had sought a presidential recount, agreed the procedure did not alter the Election Day vote total in the county, Hocking County Prosecutor Larry Beal said.

“Everybody felt better,” he said.

Questions about the integrity of the machine arose when an employee of TRIAD Governmental Systems Inc., the company that wrote the voting software used across much of Ohio, arrived Dec. 10 to inspect Hocking County’s tabulating machine.

I’d like to believe the morons behind the recounts will move on. I’d like to believe these conspiracy theoriests will give it a rest and accept the results of the election and perhaps work with our country instead of against it. There actions from today forward will tell us exactly what their true intentions were.

If the allegations of fraud continue then this was never about overturning the results. If liberal bloggers keep writing blog entries claiming Ohio was stolen then they were in on it too. They knew deep down that there was no tampering of the machine in Ohio, they just want Bush’s legitimacy as president to be in question for another four years.

Well, they lost. They lost on November 2, and they’ve been losing every day since then. Now they just need to find a new lost cause to hold on to for four years.

Arnold Says Republicans Should “Move To The Left.”

Sunday, December 19th, 2004

Arnold Schwarzenegger has told a German newspaper that he thinks the Republican Party should move “a little to the left.”

In an interview with Germany’s Sueddeutsche Zeitung daily, Schwarzenegger said that “the Republican Party currently covers only the spectrum from the right wing to the middle, and the Democratic Party covers the spectrum from the left to the middle.”

“I would like the Republican Party to cross this line, move a little further left and place more weight on the center,” he was quoted as saying. “This would immediately give the party 5% more votes without it losing anything elsewhere.”

Of course, the article also mentioned the debate over a constitutional amendment to allow foreign-born citizens to run for President — which would pave the way for an Arnold candidacy. However, this “move a little to left” line virtually terminates his chances of getting the Republican Party nomination. With Democrats likely to move further to the left, the last thing we want to do is follow them in that direction.

The End of Power For Iowa and New Hampshire?

Sunday, December 19th, 2004

Democratic activist and potential DNC Chairman candidate Simon Rosenberg is speaking out against the tremendous influence Iowa and New Hampshire have in the in the presidential primaries. “Iowa and New Hampshire should not go first in the primary calendar, and we need to create a system that allows other states to have equal footing,” he said. “I have no problem with Iowa and New Hampshire being part of the early states, but their days as the sole arbiters of who our nominee is should come to an end.”

Rosenberg came too late for Howard Dean, who likely would have become the Democratic Party’s nominee had it not been for Iowa and New Hampshire. How serious is this idea? Apparently very serious. A week ago, the DNC formed a 40-member panel “to study whether to shake up the dominance that Iowa and New Hampshire hold in presidential nominations.”

Obama Gets Book Deal

Saturday, December 18th, 2004

The Democrats new puppet rising star has landed a three-book deal worth 1.9 million dollars.

Crown Publishing Group and Random House Children’s Books, divisions of Random House Inc., announced Friday that Obama will write two books for adults and one for children.

He’ll be paid an $850,000 advance for each adult book and $200,000 for the children’s book, said Obama spokesman Robert Gibbs. Proceeds from the children’s book, which Obama will work on with his wife, Michelle, and their two young daughters, will go to charity, Gibbs said.

The contract is contingent on the approval of the Senate Ethics Committee, he said.

The first book is due out in spring of 2006, and “will focus on Obama’s political convictions.” If you never bothered to look them up, you might ask yourself “What are Barack Obama’s political convictions?”

David Freddoso took a look at Obama’s record as a state senator, and his political convictions are hardly worth an $850,000 advance - nor are they ones most people would want to advertise for free. Freddoso revealed that Obama “twice voted against bills prohibiting tax funding of abortions. In April 2002, he voted against a bill to protect babies born alive after a failed abortion procedure.” He also did not vote on an Illinois partial-birth abortion ban.

Perhaps even more disturbing is this guy is writing a children’s book. Not only has his politics shown a lack of caring about protecting children before they are born, but he also doesn’t seem at all interested in protecting them after they are born.

n 1999, Obama voted against requiring school boards to put Internet pornography filters on school computers meant for students’ use. In 2001, he voted “present” on a bill to keep pornographic book and video stores and strip clubs from setting up within 1,000 feet of schools and churches. In 2003, he voted in the Health and Human Services Committee for a bill requiring “age appropriate” sex-education for students in kindergarten through fifth grade.

And if that wasn’t enough, “in 1999, he was the only state senator to vote against a bill prohibiting early prison release for criminal sexual abusers.”

So here’s a guy who wanted pornography in schools and sex offenders back on the streets as early as possible. He’s now getting a $200,000 advance from from Random House Children’s Books.
