Kerry Supporters in A Blue State Of Mind
By Matt Margolis | November 5, 2004
Most of Americans look forward to the next four years with optimism. The millions of dollars spent by liberal 527s and the propaganda of the Hollywood liberals and Michael Moore was no match for Bush’s strong leadership and moral convictions. Liberals fought hard, and today we are the ones celebrating. And we have every right to celebrate.
Kerry supporters on the other hand are taking it hard.:
It’s a long way from the Manhattan office of psychoanalyst Sherman Pheiffer to the Cambridge, Mass., practice of psychologist Jaine Darwin. But both are in blue states that voted heavily for John Kerry, and on the day he conceded, they heard plenty of distress about the election.
“My patients were incredulous, depressed, angry, very frightened,” Pheiffer said. “Everyone talked about feeling frightened (about) the future of this country.”
Darwin heard the same kinds of reactions. At the end of the campaign, Massachusetts Democrats “kind of let themselves hope Kerry would pull it out,” she said, so patients felt “the roller coaster had crashed. I think we all had a little post-Red Sox magical thinking.”
And among Kerry campaign volunteers, of course, the loss was still stinging the day after the concession.
I have to say, I feel a little sorry for them, but they get no sympathy. These are the same people who stole Bush-Cheney signs, broke into Bush-Cheney headquarters across the country, vandalized property, attacked supporters of the President, etc. etc. For four years they personified the nastiness of politics, and the came out this year with a vengeance.
They’re not getting my sympathy. John Kerry in his concession speech spoke of the need to unite this country, meanwhile the supporters to whom he spoke are the very ones who divided us, and will continue to divide this nation. They are not going to go down quietly.
Truth be told, Democrats “misunderestimated” George W. Bush again. They’re going to have to accept that.

Matt:
Your message is very disturbing. We are divided more than ever. After all, John Kerry lost not because President Bush is a better leader. John Kerry lost strategically in Ohio. But more importantly, John Kerry lost in popular votes because 51% of our fellow Americans believes that President Bush is being honest about Iraq and can protect their values. After all, we, Americans, value our values more than issues pressing our values. We chose to ignore the fact that President Bush was dishonest about the rationale for the war. We chose to ignore that President Bush has been pleasing big corporations and the rich with the expense of regular folks like you and me. We chose to ignore that President Bush has been invading our constitutional rights and our environments. We chose to ignore that our integrity as a nation is more important than our values. We chose to ignore that an immoral leader should not be chosen to maintain our moral value.
Our obsessions with superficiality and image have once again shown the world that we really know that we are ignorant and arrogant and no one can force us to change. We are picking ignorance and ideology over intelligence and issues. Rest in peace, America.

Dennis,
Can you identify when the gridlock and hatred started? Think back to when you lost the House. Things got accomplished by the Dem Senate and House with the aid of the Republicans - who knew how to be a loyal minority. Your party does not understand this. It has been all extremism ever since. Get over it, for your own sakes and for the country. You don’t come to the majority and make demands. We didn’t.

Kahn:
I am not sure why you raised the words “gridlock” or “hatred”. I am only talking issues not sides. I am a moderate conservative who voted for Bush Sr., Dole, and McCain. Now the reason that you thought I was a democrat immediately when you read my e-mail because you pick the side first instead of trying to understand the issues. Now
will probaly think that I am a traitor when I criticized my fellow Republicans. Kahn, we are all Americans and I am all for the united states of America and America is all for freedom of speech. I believe an immoral President does not represent our conservative values. However, I do concede to the fact that the majority of my countrymen have not come to my agreement but they will some day and, hopefully, it will not be too late for us. Kahn, if you do not talk issues, the purpose of my message is all about healthy arguments, not character assassination we have seen on the political ads. Cheers!

OK Dennis, sure. If thats the case then you just don’t get it.

Matt,
It’s interesting you say that Kerry supporters are the ones who are dividing the country. It’s obvious to see that BOTH parties clearly share the responsibility. On this site alone, all I see is bashing those who do not agree with your way of thinking. The first step to this “unity” is to stop the arrogance and bickering and actually try to understand each others points of view. Everyone seems to be so focused on slamming one another and not foucusing on key issues. Bush is not perfect. Kerry is not perfect. Bush is President and therefore, it’s his responsibility to be a fair leader. Dennis seems to have a grip on what I’m getting at. I did not vote for Bush because I believe he compromised our integrity as a nation. And by the way, I’m not taking it hard at all that Kerry lost! No one is asking for sympathy. I have an optomistic outlook on the future and I hope the next four years are more productive than the previous.
Cheers.

When Clinton was president, quite a few things got done with bipartisan support. That was partially due to the fact that President Clinton is a great politician, but the Republican congressmen learned that he would keep his word to them. The only time that President Bush has been able to get things done with bipartisan support was when we were reeling from 9/11. Bush is not the politician that Clinton is, but he keeps his word once he gives it. The Democrat congressmen have not done so as a general rule. The Democrats don’t abide by the deals they have made and then complain because Bush isn’t working with them anymore. Bush was able to work with the Democratic state congressmen in Texas, but those seem to have a better record of keeping their word.

Matt, you’re a pinhead. A simple minded president, for the simple minded people…err, sheeple.

Damn Lynne, that was an effective comment. Way to go.
November 7th, 2004 at 7:15 pm
Lynne
Yale - better grades than Gore
Harvard MBA
Multi-millionaire (and he didn’t marry it)
fighter pilot
only person last century to be elected to two consecutive terms as Texas Governor (whose economy by the way is bested only by California)
President of the United Staes
Again, as I’ve said to other loser dems - what does YOUR resume look like in comparision? I am a former Marine with a BBA is strategic Mangement - looking at the scare tactics you guys tried to use to scare the elderly, blacks, and young first time voters - I would say that your party tried to pander to the stupid and ignorant - but hey - since it DIDN’T WORK, I won’t gloat.
November 7th, 2004 at 8:38 pm
Funny. Like many resumes his accomplishments are greatly exaggerated. He is where he is because of his family name, period.
He Didn’t get into college based on his SATs or high school grades but on his name. Grades were average at best. Earned his money the old fashioned way - born into it. Took three companies into bankruptcy, sold out to Harken Energy and, using insider information, sold the stock just days before it tanked. “According to U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission records, on four separate occasions he disregarded federal statutes by failing to file insider stock trade reports on a timely basis, back-dating one trade by some four months (Harken).”
Saying he is a fighter pilot is like saying I’m an Admiral because I played with toy ships as a kid.
The governor of Texas is about the fifth most powerful politician in Texas. Broad powers over the legal system, state budget and finances, education, transportation, agriculture, public utilities, and land development are delegated to officials elected by voters, and not serving at the discretion of the sitting governor.
I won’t go into the scare tactics as they were employed by both sides, one on economics the other on terror.

Chess, and yet he’s president. How do those sour grapes taste?
November 8th, 2004 at 12:59 am
What a bunch of idiots. I don’t know where to start.
First…intelligence. Bush rates higher than Gore OR Kerry according to all available information. Remember…Kerry wouldn’t release all of his info such as SAT scores, GPAs, etc. We do know that Bush scored higher than Kerry on similar military entrance tests.
2. “We chose to ignore that President Bush has been invading our constitutional rights”. No…he hasn’t You can still go rent all the gay porn you want and watch it in the privacy of your own home. You still have the right to be an a**hole, and I still have the right to call you one.
3. “We chose to ignore the fact that President Bush was dishonest about the rationale for the war.” Pure bulls**t. As has been repeatedly shown, evidence of WMDs was wrong due to poor intelligence. And who was responsible for that? The CIA. This has been admitted by Democrats as well. And who was the idiot running the CIA? George Tenet. And what idiot hired George Tenet? Bill f**king Clinton. Whining Democrats like to ignore that point. The lady in the debate asks Bush what mistakes he’s made? That’s what he should have said…mistake #1 was keeping that idiot that Clinton hired to run the CIA.
4. “I believe an immoral President does not represent our conservative values” Then why on earth would you vote for Kerry?
5. “Saying he is a fighter pilot is like saying I’m an Admiral because I played with toy ships as a kid.” Obviously spoken by someone who has never been at the controls of an airplane.
And finally, here’s a classic example of why we’ll never turn the security of this country over to these whining p*ssies. Bush wins…and Canadian immigration is flooded with calls from whining leftist Americans wanting to emigrate to Canada. They lose an election, and they want to put their tails between their legs and run away like cowards. And they honestly expect us to trust them to defend our country? What a bunch of whining, sniveling cowards. Nothing but a bunch of losers.

Robert - good post. I’ve given up trying to define reality for the lefties and just changed to taunting them. Childish of me, I know.
How can we deal with these people when Michael Moore is “mainstream?”

Kahn/Robert:
This is my last message. I urge my fellow readers to see for yourselves the type of Bush supporters on this website. I don’t think we can talk issues or be civil.
I have addressed politelyt to Kahn already. Robert, first you sound very angry! Calm down and then we can talk issues. I think you both are smothered with hatred of the leftwing. I am also with you on the conservative values. However, I am against George Bush’s moral values. I will not say anything about Kerry anymore since the election is over. First. Bush knew of the bad intelligence but went ahead to lie to the congress and the American people. Please check the facts. Second, Bush has invaded our privacy with Patriot Act. Although the act is good for our fight with terrorism, we still need to amend to perfect it. Third, Bush and Karl Rove has made us so scared of the gay and porn societies. Robert, I am against Gay marriage. Most Kerry supporters are against Gay marriage. Most Americans are moderate conservatives just like me and they do not want you to be rude to them to get the message across. Robert, please change and life is too short to be so angry….

I’m not a Dem. I am a Republican. You can inflate him all you want, but in the end you will see how dangerously stupid he is.
November 9th, 2004 at 2:36 pm
It is not the wining party’s job to re-define itself.
Truth is Lynne, what our REAL strategy has been in the troubled mid-east is bliningly simple. Walk in there, find the biggest baddest pain in the ass - and crush him. Now, we hold a central location in the mid-east. Iraq borders Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, Jordan, Syria, Turkey, and Iran. Really think about that. We are not GOING to change the mid-east, we HAVE changed the mid-east. Now, the wackos come to us like flys to honey - and we kill them. Do they have their tactical victories? Yes. But they are noy blowing up busses in Kansas City. They are going up against heavily aremed soldiers and Marines - who kill THEM.
I don’t buy into the idea that Bush is stupid. And, I reject that dem propaganda ploy. They have described ALL the republican presidents since Nixon that way - and it is a load of crap. They paint us as evil or stupid or both. And, now, after decades of this they marvel at the fact that 1. we hate them for it and 2. we win. Do I despise the liberal media elite? Yes. They are exactly what the book 1984 described - a friendly big brother intent on mind control. Now - you make your little republicans for Kerry arguments - and I’ll reject them. I grew up in an intensly liberal area and I relized long ago that their story is a lie.

Dittos to Kahn and Robert!!
Liberals have been claiming for years that Republicans are stupid, but somehow we keep winning elections, amazing… I wonder what that makes Democrats then, ummm…
November 19th, 2004 at 7:29 am
Dennis,
Do not be so childish or simplistic as to write off my points as “hatred”. Not in the least. Simply pointing out the utter stupidity of those I mention.
1. Bush knew of the bad intelligence but went ahead and lied to Congress??? Says who? Michael Moore?
2. Name me one way, JUST ONE WAY, that Bush has invaded MY privacy.
3. Bush and Rove didn’t do anything to make people afraid of gay marriage. The gay community and the left pushed the issue by bucking the status quo and trying to legalize gay marriage. I have a gay cousin in his sixties. Everyone in the family, including me, loves him. Everyone thinks that what he does with his personal life is his business. We’re all content with the status quo. But the gay commiunity, and leftist politicians, were not. That’s what started this whole marriage amendment business in all these states. Straight people didn’t just wake up one morning and out of the blue decide to ban gay marriage.
By the way…without any emotion whatsoever…let me say that you’re still an idiot. Points 1 and 2 above are sufficient evidence. Plus, you don’t have the brains to see the obvoius sarcasm regarding the gay porn point…only made to illustrate that we have lost no civil rights in America under the Patriot act. Finally…why is it that those on the left insist on equating harsh criticism with hatred? Emotion has absolutely nothing to do with the fact that those leftists I mentioned are morons. How I feel about them is irrelevant.
I will agree with you about one point, however. I absolutely do hate the cowardly traitors who want to run off and leave our country because their guy lost the election. My father fought and bled in war for this country, spent time in a POW camp, and these degenerates want to turn tail and run? Yes, I hate them. And I’m damn proud to say it. They are beneath contempt.
