Kerry Admits His Military Records Are Not Public — NBC Tries To Cover Up
By Matt Margolis | November 1, 2004
In an interview on October 28, John Kerry revealed in an interview with Tom Brokaw (perhaps without realizing it) that his military records are in fact not all public - as he has previously claimed along the campaign trail.
That’s only half the story… Here is the original transcript of that portion of the interview via MSNBC Nightly News:
Brokaw: Someone has analyzed the President’s military aptitude tests and yours, and concluded that he has a higher IQ than you do.
Kerry: That’s great. More power. I don’t know how they’ve done it, because my record is not public. So I don’t know where you’re getting that from.
Now, since then, the Dateline NBC transcript has the incriminating line removed:
Brokaw: “Someone has analyzed the president’s military aptitude tests and yours, and concluded that he has a higher IQ than you do.”
Kerry: “That’s great. More power. I don’t know how they’ve done it.”
The latter transcript has “because my record is not public. So I don’t know where you’re getting that from,” editted out. Is NBC trying to save Kerry another controversy by removing that line because Kerry has gone on the record claiming he has released all of his military records?
A Blogs For Bush reader, Brent, has also informed me that NBC has actually aired a version of the interview with Kerry’s edited answer on Dateline.
Is NBC acting alone to protect Kerry? Or does the Kerry campaign have something to do with this cover up?

What’s the point of this story? The media edits stuff all the time! Do you actually believe this is a first?!?!
Or…are you just running out of things to talk about?

What a load of crap. You liberals ngo on week long rants about Bush’s military service and won’t admit that JFK2 has consistently refused to release his owm military records. Just as Tereeezzzaaa has refused to release her tax and financial records. The liberal press preasured Cheney to walk away from nearly a billion dollars in stock options. His reward? He is constatnly accused of helping Haliburton. You make me sick. I can’t wait to vote in the morning.
And if the Kerry’s head to the White House - expect a Freedom of Information suite to make them public.

Well, Matt, if that was the only line edited out of the transcript, I would give the argument to you. Instead the two transcripts are totally different and edited up, not to dispose of a slip by Kerry, but because they have the rights to edit the interview how they see fit. Your problem is that you are jumping at every single thing you can find to try and make Kerry look bad and it’s only because the election is so close. This time next week, hopefully all of this stuff will be meaningless and the election will be over.

I’m excited! Today is the last real day of Bush’s presidency. His lame duck period will start tomorrow!
I am 100% certain that Kerry is going to win! Hmmm…what’s going to happen to this blog afterwards?

I don’t mean to change the subject, but as of 11:41 Iowa time, Bush jumped to 266 Eelectorial votes, Kerry has 211.
Assuming that it’s all over to Kerry (YIPPPPPIE!), What are your plans for this blog now, Matt?

Well…it’s “afterward” now Marshall. Still excited? I know I am.

Today is a very sad day. We are divided more than ever. After all, John Kerry lost not because President Bush is a better leader. John Kerry lost strategically in Ohio. But more importantly, John Kerry lost in popular votes because 51% of our fellow Americans believes that President Bush is being honest about Iraq and can protect their values. After all, we, Americans, value our values more than issues pressing our values. We chose to ignore the fact that President Bush was dishonest about the rationale for the war. We chose to ignore that President Bush has been pleasing big corporations and the rich with the expense of regular folks like you and me. We chose to ignore that President Bush has been invading our constitutional rights and our environments. We chose to ignore that our integrity as a nation is more important than our values. We chose to ignore that an immoral leader should not be chosen to maintain our moral value.
Our obsessions with superficiality and image have once again shown the world that we really know that we are ignorant and arrogant and no one can force us to change. We are picking ignorance and ideology over intelligence and issues. Rest in peace, America.

I stongly doubt that Bush has an IQ higher than Kerry’s…that may have been true in the 70’s but after abusing alcohol and coke for a decade or so your IQ tends to drop….doesn’t it George? “Dur dur dur War blurrgglarrr lets kill Iraqis…umm Yeah Iraq is the new Saudi-Arabia! OoooiiLLLllLllL!!”…Thanks, George for that enlightening response, back to you Dumb Ass!

ugh - Poe did his best work while on Coke.
But that aside, GWB:
Rich (admitedly), but grew his fortune after stumbling
Yale - better grades than Gore (not sure about Kerry)
Harvard MBA - they don’t care who your daddy is there
Fighter pilot - you gotta admit, when he did show up, thats a tough gig
Only person elected to two consecutive terms as Texas governor in the 20th century - think about it
Oh yah, and president of the United States of America.
Whats YOUR resume look like?
