Integrity, Integrity, Integrity… or Lies, Lies, Lies?

By Matt Margolis | October 14, 2004

A Blogs For Bush reader has informed me of something quite interesting about a story John Kerry told last night at the debate.

When asked about what he’s learned from the strong women in his life, Kerry made a point to shift his answer from discussing Teresa and his daughters to telling a story about his late mother:

Can I say, if I could just say a word about a woman that you didn’t ask about, but my mom passed away a couple years ago, just before I was deciding to run, and she was in the hospital and I went in to talk to her and tell her what I was thinking of doing. And she looked at me from her hospital bed and she just looked at me and she said, “Remember, integrity, integrity, integrity.” Those are the three words that she left me with.

Did that at all sound familiar to you? It did to me, but I couldn’t figure it out… Well, here’s why it is familiar.

Vietnam veteran John Rassman, who joined Kerry on the campaign trail earlier this year, said something remarkably similar … or should I say identical:

After serving with John Kerry, a veteran says Kerry is better suited to serve in the White House. Jim Rassman was in Eau Claire on Tuesday to campaign for Kerry. Rassman says Kerry saved his life when he pulled him out of a river during a battle in Vietnam. Rassman says he voted for Bush in 2000, but says he doesn’t plan to back the President this time around. “There are three character traits John has that George Bush does not have and they are integrity, integrity, integrity. I trust John Kerry implicitly. I don’t trust a thing George Bush tells me,” said Rassman.

Is John Kerry so lacking in integrity that he actually borroed Rassman’s quote and falsely attribute it to his own dying mother to make a political statement?

Is there anything John Kerry won’t do to influence voters?

    “Integrity, integrity, integrity”
Did the integrity comments actually come from Kerry’s Mother? Matt Margolis has some information that if true could mean Kerry would even lie about his own Mother.

    Fellow UHa architecture graduate:
Just wanted to post some info about the draft that the Democrats and Michael Mooreon are saying, trying to scare college students:

Democrat Rangel introduces bill to reinstate Military
    Draft

Rumsfeld says he sees no need for military draft

    WASHINGTON (CNN) –  Representative
Charles Rangel introduced a bill in Congress Tuesday to reinstate the military
draft, saying fighting forces should more closely reflect the economic makeup
    of the nation.

The New York Democrat told reporters his goal is two-fold:
to jolt Americans into realizing the import of a possible unilateral strike
    against
Iraq, which he opposes, and "to make it clear that if there were
a war, there would be more equitable representation of people making
    sacrifices."

    US House of
    Rep.

The House of Representatives voted on bill to reinstate the draft by Democrat
Charles Rangel (NY), and defeated it
    soundly, 402-2
. The bill, which languished in Congress with no
real support since its introduction in January 2003, has often been used as
evidence the Republicans favor a draft, despite the fact that a Democrat sponsored it, 14 other Democrats
    cosponsored it,
    and
color=red face=Arial>no Republicans supported it. The rumors
reached urban legend status, leading the House Republicans to take the uncommon
step of voting on a bill that was not under remotely serious consideration. The
two voting in favor of the bill were Democrats John Murtha (PA) and Pete Stark
(CA), who was one of the cosponsors. Republican Senate majority leader Bill
Frist said the Senate will not address the issue.

    Stop the
LIES in the main stream media and the two Johns (Kerry and Edwards).
Above all, stop the biggest liar, Michael Mooreon!

Sorry, Matt, no scoop here. Kerry and Rassman are guilty of nothing more than using a cliche. Plug the phrase “integrity, integrity, integrity,” (with the quotes, to indicate to search for the literal string) into your favorite search engine, and you will see dozens of citations. It’s a shopworn phrase in business at this point. It’s also a phrase my mother used to use, and she was a contemporary of Kerry’s mother.

You know, you could give him the benefit of the doubt and assume (if the story were true) that Kerry relayed this story to this man, and he was echoing an idea he’d heard from Kerry. That’s fair. That’s normal.

But, then again. Why would his mother feel the need to adivise him on that subject? Is it possible she was trying to instruct him on an issue that needed some work?

Come on you can dig up worse things than that. What you have pointed out is just anal, no one votes for president based on coincidences like that. No one is voting for John Kerry because Bush was a former alcoholic or because Bush smirks too often.

    LOL!!

Just want to let you know, I got even today with the liberals!

apparently that crap about liberals vandalizing a bush supporters property (signs, bumbper stickers, etc) is not just happening in one state.

I got back home and found my bush lawn sticker with an anti-bush sticker on it (notice ANTI-BUSH).

So I went out and found the first kerry traitor supporter and dished out some justice!!!

Slapping the “liberal” label on a candidate is just a bunch of mindless name-calling. Go check up on some facts before you try to start an argument.

“Slapping the “liberal” label on a politician is just a bunch of mindless name calling.”

Except when it’s true. I hate to break it to you Whit, but Kerry is a *gasp* liberal.

I thought liberals knew better than to say “Go check up on some facts” because when facts are checked, liberals inevitably lose.

(At least today’s Bush-hating, psychotic variety of liberals)

Dick Cheney, President Bush and his father are flying on Air Force One. Dick looks at Dubya, chuckles and says, “You know, I could throw a $100.00 bill out the window right now and make one person very happy.”

Dubya shrugs his shoulders and says, “Well, I could throw ten $10.00 bills out the window and make 10 people very happy.” George Bush Senior says, “Of course then, I could throw one-hundred $1.00 bills out the window and make a hundred people very happy.”

The pilot rolls her eyes, looks at all of them and says, “I could throw all of you out the window and make the whole country happy.”
