John Kerry: Hypocrite on Taxes

By Matt Margolis | October 11, 2004

Jonathan over at Blogs For Bush has pointed out that while John Kerry says “the rich” should pay their fair share of taxes, Kerry himself has used loopholes to pay as little in taxes as possible.

Jason notes that John Kerry’s pledge to not raise taxes on people who make less than $200,000 was broken by his own proposed tax policy.

John Kerry is Lying About Taxing the Middle Class.
In the debate on Friday night, John Kerry was asked if he’d raise taxes on families making under $200,000. In a memorable moment, John Kerry looked right into the camera and lied to America.

Its not possible to lie about the future.

you can lie about the past, and mislead about the future.

You can lie about the future… If you tell your wife “I am going to the grocery store” and then you go to the golden banana and come home smelling like cheap perfume and swampass… you lied about what you were going to do.

speaking of lying & misleading, what about the draft?
who actually believes it won’t happen under bush?

considering that the two bills in congress proposing reinstating the draft were sponsored only by democrats, and the fact that John Kerry was the only candidate proposing mandatory military service, I would say I tend to believe John Kerry is lying about the future and that he intends to reinstate the draft.

Matt that former proposal was discussing community service not mandatory military service. Many, many accusations made at Blogs for Bush have been factually incorrect or misleading. You should have a system of corrections, when I try to point out a fallacy in a statement or title I get shouted down rather than my point being taken into consideration.

The way BfB analysed Kerry’s tax plan is also misleading. A tax rate is not a tax bracket, Kerry’s plan mentions specifically only “families making over 200,000″ and restoring
tax rates to what they were under Clinton. He does not say what he would do to tax brackets under than the 200,000 number. So saying that his current plan will raise taxes on those making under 200,000 just cannot be concluded. Kerry said he would limit some of his programs if he had to but was clear on taxes, I think the continued attacks about him planning to raise taxes on the middle class in the years to come baseless. I might also add that most of Bush’s proposals are even less specific.

Is Bush cheating on his “test”???
what is the story about the radio reciever? This really explains his odd behavior when he appeared clueless in the debate.
Can you offer an explanation or are you trying to ignore it hoping it will go away???

    MIles said, “restoring
tax rates to what they were under Clinton. He does not say what he would do to tax brackets under than the 200,000 number.

Miles, what do you think the “top two rates” are if they’re not the top two brackets? I’m guessing you don’t know anything about this issue, but decided to blindly defend your candidate. It’s a shame.

Here’s how the Boston Herald described the plan: “He would rein in the Bush deficit by restoring 1990s-era tax rates to the top brackets.

I know it’s moot now, but there’s obviously at least 55 million Americans that need some education.
