Let The Debate Begin….

Thursday, September 30th, 2004

I’ll be live-blogging the debate tonight at Blogs For Bush…

Taking On Liberal UHa

Thursday, September 30th, 2004

I miss my days at the University of Hartford. I used to write for the school paper, The Informer, and often caused a stir. It appears that there is still some vocal conservatives on campus, contributing to the paper I left a few years ago… Andrew Sky Crump has some questions young Democrats on campus… Jason Komninos, who was a member of the student radio station WSAM when I was on campus, tells the campus there is a clear difference between Bush and Kerry.

Kerry’s Price Cap on Protecting Our Soldiers

Monday, September 27th, 2004

It never ceases to amaze what liberals find themselves proud of.

Teresa Heinz-Kerry speaking to a crowd of 600 Democrats in Colorado responded to a heckler questioning her husbands vote against supporting our troops…

During a question and answer session, a young man demanded to know why Kerry voted to give Bush authority to attack Iraq but voted against an $87 billion appropriation bill to support the war effort there.

“Is that the kind of thing he would do as president?,” the man asked.

Heinz Kerry sharply asked the man whether he had read the legislation that was voted on.

When he said no, she told him that Kerry had supported $60 billion in military appropriations for Iraq, but would not vote for the full $87 billion because he considered it a “blank check.” Kerry was one of 11 Democrats to vote against the bill.

Oh, so John Kerry thinks that there should be a cap on how much we spend to protect them in harms way? What is that all about? I didn’t realize John Kerry felt that we have to put a price tag on protecting our troops.

Is that the kind of Commander-In-Chief we want - one who believes that there is a price too high to pay to protect our soldiers in combat?

Disgusting…

Memories of Radio

Saturday, September 25th, 2004

Earlier today I did a radio interview in studio on WBIX AM1060 in Boston, MA. It reminded me of my days in radio back at the University of Hartford.

I figured I would share a couple audio bytes with everyone - not from my show itself, but instead some stuff I produced for my show or the radio station in general.

Here is the intro for my radio show, which began in October 2001:

This is a station ID that I created for my station (which I am particularly proud of–despite including the music of the anti-Bush Foo Fighters.) This was produced in late September or early October 2001:

Bush Still Leads

Saturday, September 25th, 2004

Kerry might be scaling up his attacks and campaign rhetoric but he has yet to make a dent in Bush’s lead.

President Bush solidified his advantage among men during the last month and holds his highest ratings since January on job performance, the economy and Iraq, according to an Associated Press poll.

Bush has a 7-point lead over Sen. John Kerry - 52 percent to 45 percent among likely voters - in the AP-Ipsos survey less than six weeks before the Nov. 2 election. Independent Ralph Nader was backed by 1 percent.

The president held the advantage despite increasing violence in Iraq and a week of attacks on his Iraq policy by an increasingly combative Kerry, the Democratic presidential nominee.

“We took a lead after our convention and the lead has held,” said Matthew Dowd, a senior Bush campaign strategist. Bush has a slight lead in some polls, and is running even in others.

Among registered voters, Bush leads Kerry 51 percent to 42 percent, while Nader had the backing of 2 percent.

Since the Republican convention, Bush’s job approval is up, 54 percent among likely voters, and just over half of them approve of his handling of the economy and Iraq. His approval in all three areas is as high as it’s been all year in the polling conducted for the AP by Ipsos-Public Affairs.

Bush is also polling better this year amongst women:

With time running out, Kerry has much important work to do in his campaign, the AP-Ipsos poll suggested.

Bush holds a 17-point lead among men. And Bush and Kerry are tied among women, a traditionally Democratic group that now favors Bush on protecting the country.

Democrat Al Gore won the women’s vote by 11 percentage points in 2000, while Bush won men by a similar margin.

Betsy Bodenhamer, a 33-year-old teacher’s aide and mother of two from Galesburg, Ill., says she has always voted for Democrats in recent presidential elections. This year, she’s leaning toward Bush.

“I think if Kerry gets elected, he’s going to pull everybody out of Iraq and they’ll have to fend for themselves,” she said. “Situations like 9/11 will happen again and again.”

Things continue to look good for Bush. John Kerry might say he’s now in a “fighting mood,” but he’s swinging without making any contact…

John Kerry Thinks He Knows Better Than Allawi

Thursday, September 23rd, 2004

John Kerry, who can’t even settle on a position to take on Iraq, suggested today that he knows better than Iraq’s prime minister Ayad Allawi on the situation in Iraq:

Democratic presidential candidate John Kerry said Thursday that Iraq’s Ayad Allawi was sent before Congress to put the “best face” on Bush administration policy.

Shortly after Allawi, the interim government’s prime minister, gave a rosy portrayal of progress toward peace in Iraq, Kerry said the assessment contradicted reality on the ground.

“The prime minister and the president are here obviously to put their best face on the policy, but the fact is that the CIA estimates, the reporting, the ground operations and the troops all tell a different story,” Kerry said.

Allawi told a joint meeting of Congress that democratic elections will take place in Iraq in January as scheduled, but Kerry said that was unrealistic.

That’s quite a way to gain respect from world leaders.

Saddam & The U.N.’s Oil-for-Money-for Al Qaeda Program

Wednesday, September 22nd, 2004

Interestingly enough, I missed this story, but during my never-ending quest to finish adding blogs to the Blogroll for Bush (yes, more and more requests are coming in daily) I came across a blog that did find the story, which suggests that Saddam was helping to fund Al Qaeda with UN Oil-for-Food program money.

Did Saddam Hussein use any of his ill-gotten billions filched from the United Nations Oil-for-Food program to help fund Al Qaeda?

Investigations have shown that the former Iraqi dictator grafted and smuggled more than $10 billion from the program that for seven years prior to Saddam’s overthrow was meant to bring humanitarian aid to ordinary Iraqis. And the Sept. 11 Commission has shown a tracery of contacts between Saddam and Al Qaeda that continued after billions of Oil-for-Food dollars began pouring into Saddam’s coffers and Usama bin Laden declared his infamous war on the U.S.

Now, buried in some of the United Nation’s own confidential documents, clues can be seen that underscore the possibility of just such a Saddam-Al Qaeda link — clues leading to a locked door in this Swiss lakeside resort.

Fascinating stuff… I urge you to read the whole story… Why hasn’t this story gotten more attention?
