Kerry Was For Freedom Of Speech Before He Was Against

By Matt Margolis | August 5, 2004

WorldNetDaily reports:

Lawyers for the Democratic National Committee and Sen. John Kerry’s presidential campaign have faxed a letter to television station managers warning them not to broadcast an ad by Kerry’s Vietnam colleagues which asserts the candidate is lying about his service during the war.

The letter, posted by Human Events Online [Requires PDF viewer], tells the managers if they decide to air the ad they are “responsible for the false and libelous charges” made by the group, Swift Boat Veterans for Truth.

Yeah, of course it’s “false and libelous” according to the Kerry campaign.. It’s probably “attacking his patriotism” too… or some other excuse.

If the Swift Boat Veterans for Truth aren’t telling the truth, then hey, let John Kerry prove it. I have to say John Kerry wouldn’t have to defend his Vietnam service if he didn’t make his Vietnam service his entire platform.

well, if mccain is condemning the ad and the white house isn’t supporting it, then something is obviously wrong with it and it really is filled with lies. so, the ad should be stopped, ’cause there are idiots out there who will believe it!

I’m all for putting the Swift Vets for Truth and John Kerry on a stage together with a few camera and a microphone and see what happens.

I can’t believe that the libs are upset when the tables are turned on them.. How much false horse shit have we heard about Bush being responsible for 9/11….. Blah Blah f%*#*!!!ing BLAH… Get over it loser libs…. Kerry is a F($*&ing loser. Even if he served honorably, my father has more time in the shitter in country than Kerry’s four sorry months…

Actually, the thing is, none of the people served in the same boat as Kerry. They were just in the same war.

That’s like me saying that you, Matt, are gay, because we’re both in the same country. If anything, it should be up to these idiots to prove themselves RIGHT.

i think that’s an exaggeration. if they didn’t have some first hand knowledge of kerry they wouldn’t have been able to create a bipartisan organization against him. they must know something…

Oh no, it’s quite easy. You just need to be able to spin things and twist the truth around.

Isn’t there organizations that believe Bush knew about 9/11 ahead of time? Obviously they must know SOMETHING.

It’s been established that Kerry went back later and filmed a “reenactment”. That alone makes me suspicious. I agree…put Kerry and SVT in a debate and see who wins.

Hello, you listening? They didn’t serve with Kerry. In fact, the people who DID actually serve with kerry have been doing nothing but praising/promoting him. Well, all but one. Mostly because he’s dead.

Actually, the veterans speaking out against Kerry were on two other swift boats that were involved in a particular incident that led to one of the purple hearts and one of Kerry’s medals and were within 50 yards of Kerry’s boat. They dispute the details according to Kerry and his mates, particularly whether or not they were under fire at the time. According to these veterans, Kerry was always shooting at anything that moved on the bank even though they were only supposed to fire when fired on. (’Look out, it’s coming right for us!’) Anyway, this could easily be cleared up if Kerry would just authorize the release of his medical records, etc that led to his 3 purple hearts that he reminds people of every time he gets a chance. The problem is the first one that was part of the above mentioned incident was apparently caused by his weapon misfiring and he received a wound from the shrapnel as a result of the blowback. So I doubt he wants any of that to be scrutinized too closely.

The Swift Boat veterans are lying bags of excrement. None of the ones in the ad served with Kerry. They served on another boat. One of them has accepted combat medals for the same incident that they are now claiming involved no gunfire at all from the enemy. This is a pure fraud perpetrated by angry, bitter, Republican party hacks.

Actually, they just backed down completely.

Nah, you missed it Kyle. Just Kerry’s commanding officer that signed off on the statement saying he would not have recommended the silver star if he had known that Kerry had chased the wounded enemy down and shot him in the back, recanted and said he believes Kerry probably still deserved the medal and probably did not shoot the guy in the back. Can you say CYA? He is obviously concerned that by signing that paper he implicates himself for falsely awarding a medal and I am sure is getting tremendous heat over it. The strong arm tactics of the democratic party since the Clinton years has become legendary, so it is not surprising they are starting to get to some people. The SBVT group has NOT backed down AT ALL.

The SVBT crew didn’t even serve with Kerry, so how would they know anything?

  14. Ed Says:
    August 6th, 2004 at 6:54 pm

Have you not read anything about it? They were not in his boat, but they were in other boats with them at the time and were witness to his daily routine. I was in the Air Force and served with a bunch of guys that I never flew in the same plane with…I still served with them and knew them and could attest to their military performance. These are little boats, they typically travelled in groups of at least two or three, they were part of joint actions. What about that do you not get?

  15. Kyle Says:

I’m sorry, but when his crew says one thing, and people on an entirely different boat says another, I’m more likily to believe his crew.

    Facts in evidence though:
1.) The people that REALLY served with Kerry (On the same damn boat) speak very highly of him.
2.) The person he rescued speaks very highly of him
3.) His evaluations at the time were ALL exemplary by his direct CO.s
4.) His actions AFTER he returned from war made a lot of people hate him.
5.) These people are financed by a group with direct connections to the Republican Party, and include a woman who was previously involved in setting up a false group to discredit another politician who stood in GW’s way.
6.) Oh yes, and bear in mind that the military leader of this group - Hoffmann - was also implicated in setting orders that led to a massacre at Thanh Phong

Honestly, I am willing to give Kerry the benefit of the doubt in Vietnam. It was a bad situation that we did not commit the resources or support to in order for our troops to succeed. My hat is off to anyone that willingly or not served there in any capacity.
I just wish that Kerry would have had more to talk about in relation to supporting our military in the 30 years since then. He has unfortunately had to stress it over and over opening himself up to this kind of attack, because he basically has such a dismal track record due to his actions upon returning to the states as well as his total non-support of our troops in the Senate, including his most recent refusal to vote for the additional military spending that was needed because he felt canceling Bush’s tax cuts were more important. We have already seen tax revenues increase the first part of this year as a result of the tax incentives, cutting the original deficit estimate by 100 billion dollars. So his childish tantrum in refusing to vote for the bill without adding that on(needlessly as it turns out), has put him in a very bad light.

Kyle… I will make this simple..
    1. SVT officers served in the same unit.
    2. SVT officers participated in the same missions as Kerry
    3. there are 250 members in the SVT organization
    4. there are about what, 20 vets for Kerry, including one who blew his own legs and arm off.
    5. 527 laws are legal for Republicans
    6. George Soros is spending over 15 to 20 million on smear adds against Bush. and the Libs are whining about this Texas republican’s paultry 100,000?
    7. They are going after Kerry becaue he is staking his campaign and his integrity on his service in Vietnam. his whole campaign speech is, “I’m better because I was in combat in Vietnam”

    8. Kerry is a gonner!! Because these guys have their shit together and if you follow the real news beyond CNN… They are lock step and their stories are air-tight.

    From http://www.captainsquartersblog.com/mt/archives/002202.php

“At least three witnesses, Dr. Letson (who spoke to the participants and removed the M-79 fragment), Lt. Bill Schachte (on the boat), and Cmdr. Grant Hibbard (whose investigation revealed Kerry’s application for a Purple Heart to be fraudulent), are able to testify directly or based upon contemporaneous investigation that Kerry’s first Purple Heart was a fraud. Thus, Lewis Letson’s statement that “I know John Kerry is lying about a first Purple Heart” is conclusively established by the evidence.”

Letson was the doctor who treated him. Hibbard was his CO. They knew it to be a fraud.

Kerry also lied about being in Cambodia, but the funniest thing was that he seemed to think that Richard Nixon was President in Christmas of 1968! Of course, the reality is that for his lie to have maximum effect he had to have a Republican in the White House, not a Democrat.
