Kerry To Announce VP on Bush’s Birthday?

By Matt Margolis | July 1, 2004

The Boston Globe is reporting that Kerry may announce his running mate on Tuesday, July 6th, which (coincidentally/intentionally) is George W. Bush’s 58th birthday.

John F. Kerry spent yesterday in isolation at his wife’s 90-acre suburban farm, working on his convention acceptance speech amid signs that the presumptive Democratic presidential nominee may announce his choice of a running mate here as early as next Tuesday.

”We’re hearing it’s going to be Tuesday,” said the adviser, who spoke on the condition that neither he nor his boss be identified.

Coincidence? Maybe. Intentional? Possibly. Perhaps Kerry hopes to steal the limelight from Bush on his birthday. But hey, what better gift for George W. Bush on his birthday than to find out the entire ticket he is going to beat in November.

I hope he picks Hillary. It would be a guaranteed defeat.

You know, for a guy whose supporters claim is the greatest ruler the Earth has ever known, Bush doesn’t spend a lot of time tooting his own horn. Most of his campaign is spent talking about how terrible the other guy is.
