Letter To The Editor: Kerry Should Resign From Senate
By Matt Margolis | June 19, 2004
This week I submitted a Letter To The Editor to a number of different Boston area newspapers. Yesterday I discovered one paper that printed it. Hopefully, this will be the start of many more Letters To The Editor in the future:
To the Editor:
John Kerry may be running for president, but at the same time he’s been running from the job he was elected to do in the U.S. Senate.
During the first session of the 108th Congress, he missed 64 percent, or 292 of the votes. Some votes were on major issues like the partial-birth-abortion ban, which Kerry said last November was “a dangerous effort to undermine a woman’s right to choose, which is a constitutional amendment I will always fight to protect.”
But he wasn’t there to fight against it.
Some votes were even so close that Kerry’s presence could have actually impacted the results. In April, Kerry was pushing for the extension of unemployment benefits but wasn’t there to vote for it. It was rejected by one vote — John Kerry’s vote. In fact, he was the only senator to miss that vote.
Regardless of whether or not you agree with Kerry’s policies, he’s not doing the job he was elected to do at the expense of the taxpayers.
The people of Massachusetts deserve more than an MIA senator. As the final months of the presidential campaign approach, it’s safe to say Kerry will be even less inclined to do the job we pay him to do.
It’s time for John Kerry to stop getting paid to spend all his time campaigning. It’s time for John Kerry to resign from the U.S. Senate.

I grew up in western Mass and most of my family is still there. it’s been suffering an economic dry period for 10 years - all through the Clinton years in fact. It has/had several industries targeted by Democrats. Paper mills in Holyoke - targeted by democrats. Gun factories - targeted by democrats. Hi-tech defence, like Kohl-Morgan in Northampton (it makes periscopes for nuclear submarines) - Again, targeted by democrats. Yet, the people just don’t seem to get it.
And to make matters worse, the incredibly corrupt democratic machine in Boston has sucked every dollar in the Commonwealth into the “big dig.” Leaving roads and bridges in dis-repair throughout the rest of the state. Why, its Liberal Utopia. The effects of wild spending coupled with never ending taxes while all the industries are destroyed are the legacy of a failed philosophy.

Lieutenant Governor Kerry Healey
State House
Office of the Governor
Room 360
Boston, MA 02133
June 18, 2004
Dear Lieutenant Governor Healey,
Please be aware that in the past week, we have sent out 3,000 emails and faxes to various interested parties on the URGENT MATTER concerning what John Kerry knew about pre-9/11 warnings, when he knew these facts, and why it was that he did nothing about them. Please see copies herewith enclosed, of those communications.
(Item: Out of the 3,000 transmissions which we sent, the response was a deafening silence.………….even from conservative publications, radio talk shows, online news websites, the Republican National Committee, plus Senators, Representatives and Governors, including – alas, Governor Romney. Why was this, do you suppose?)
In our opinion, you are not only correct in demanding that John Kerry resign from the Senate, but he should have resigned immediately after 9/11, based upon his inexplicable failure to act forcefully on information provided to him in the spring of 2001. He was in a position – literally!! – to take action which very well could have prevented 9/11 from ever occurring.
John Kerry proposes to take over George W. Bush’s main task of PROTECTING America. Yet, he manifestly did not have the foresight, the energy, the will, the professionalism or the seriousness of purpose to protect Logan Airport. As a result, 100 of his constituents died on two planes which then killed 2,700 individuals in both WTC towers.
We urge you to speak out on this issue. Please review the attached contents. Someone on our conservative Republican side needs to have the courage to expose Kerry’s shocking pre-9/11 negligence. It is nothing less than a matter of national security, as well as the most important campaign issue we can think of.

PLEASE ACT!! . . . if for no other reason than to contribute to the defeat of Mr. Kerry in the November election, because he has no credibility and no competence with respect to protecting the United States of America.
Before going to the polls in November, the public needs to know that John Kerry is only pontificating when he claims that he “sounded the alarm” about the terror threat to us, here at home. The above investigative reports prove conclusively that he had urgent warnings in his hands of immediate danger to Logan airport. This information did not make its way to the President, Vice President or Condolezza Rice, but the Senator from Masschusetts had it, and he did NOTHING!
Sincerely yours,
Charlotte Baker

Those aren’t credible sources and your not a citizen of Massachusetts. I live in Westfield,Massachusetts, and I agree with Kahn that the legislators in Boston are negligant of issues around here. The bridge I live next to was closed 5 years ago and only recently did the new bridge reopen, the Big Dig was definitely a tremendous waste. But I also disagree with you on other things, Pittsfield is only wasted because General Electric wanted higher profits and closed shop there. Paper mills were also becoming less profitable and the need for them lessened.
