Meeting RNC Chairman Ed Gillespie
By Matt Margolis | May 25, 2004
Tonight my brother Aaron and I attended the Candidates Kickoff Reception hosted by Mitt Romney for the state Republican Party. Thanks to my great Governor Mitt Romney, new life is being injected into the State of Massachusetts. Lt. Governor Kerry Healey spoke first, followed by Governor Mitt Romney, who then introduced special guest, RNC Chairman Ed Gillespie.
Romney was great. He’s really done a great job trying to help make Massachusetts a two-party state again. He spoke about the general election as well, with some great cracks about John Kerry which really got the crowd going.
I got to meet and shake hands with Healey, Romney, and Ed Gillespie. I’d never met Ed Gillespie before, but back in January he posted a comment on my other site, Blogs For Bush, which was my first indicator that the RNC was aware of Blogs For Bush.
When Gillespie came off the podium to meet and greet everyone I was one of the first few people he encountered, when he came to me and shook my hand, I said, “You might know who I am, I’m Matt Margolis.”
Gillespie smiled and said, “Oh yeah, of course!”
“Yeah, I run Blogs For Bush.” I said, just to make sure.
Of course, I didn’t have to remind him, he told me he thought the site was great and that he appreciates what I’m doing.
I didn’t get have much of a conversation with him, there were lots of people wanting to meet him, shake his hand, some people wanted autographs. I did get a photo with him, which I’ve posted here:

It was great to meet Mr. Gillespie, and it felt good to know he’s aware of the work I’ve done in putting together Blogs For Bush.
.After the crowd around him got bigger, Aaron and I went to meet up with Gov. Mitt Romney. As I shook his hand I told him, “We’re going to take back Massachusetts,” and he replied, “Absolutely we are.”
The Republican Party in Massachusetts is going through a revival, thanks to Mitt. Hopefully, we’ll be seeing some changes in the state in November. When the country reelects George W. Bush in November, we’re also going to take the Ass out of Mass.

Awesome.. I’m jealous of you! I’m glad that the higher-ups are taking note of you and Blogs for Bush!
I’m definatly happy to be a proud member of the Massachusetts chapter of the Right Wing Conspiracy as well! It’s great to finally have a Governor that actually doesn’t give in to everything the democrats do here!

I hope you’re right, but I’d have to rename my blog (shameless plug)if we do get the “ass” out of Mass.
