A Tale of Two Standards
By Matt Margolis | March 7, 2004
As John Kerry sits back as his supporters raise their fists over the Bush campaign’s use of 9-11 images for a few seconds in a campaign ad, there’s nothing more telling than his double standard for Bush’s use of 9-11 images and his own use of Vietnam images and the constant reminding of his Vietnam service in his campaign.
During an interview, Kerry when asked about the appropriateness of using the images, he said:
I thought the firemen, the firefighters and the families spoke volumes … and eloquently about that and I think that they made clear that they did not.
And of course Kerry defended his use of Vietnam in his campaign, citing what he thinks is a key difference:
I was there, and it was mine and it was a war I fought in. ..
Excuse me? Does John Kerry own Vietnam? Does he have the rights to exploit an entire war for political gain?
“[The firemen] spoke about it. … Given the fact they are uncomfortable with it i think it is inappropriate.”
Kerry is wrong. The firefighter’s union spoke out against it - and it just so happens that the firefighter’s union endorsed John Kerry late last year.
And the families? It is also intersting that the group of families speaking against the ads are a part of a group called “September Eleventh Families For a Pieace Tomorrow” which is a project of the Tides Center, which is fundly by the Vira Heinz Endowment and the Howard Heinz Endowment - which are chaired by none other than Teresa Heinz, wife of gold-digger John Kerry.
So what we have here is a group of Kerry partisans crying foul… Geee, what did you think they would do. Added to that, Kerry thinks he owns Vietnam - which apparently he must have bought the rights to with Teresa Heinz’s fortune.
Kerry needs to learn a few things. For one, George W. Bush was President when 9-11 happened. He went there, he saw the destruction, he met with the firefighters, he led our country in the wake of that national tragedy. it doesn’t belong to him, or the families, or the firemen… It belongs to all of us. It is part of our history, it affected all of us, and it was also a part of George W. Bush’s presidency and his actions in the aftermath are a testimony of his superior leadership.
Vietnam is a part of our history too. It doesn’t belong to John Kerry.
The images and memories of 9-11 belong to all of us. Bush’s leadership after 9-11 is part of that history. Just as John Kerry’s record of voting against our military and inteligence communites is a history we all have the pleasure of using. Only John Kerry’s voting record is a history he doesn’t want to be remembered.

Matt, did you catch the interview Katie Couric had with a supposed 9/11 widow? I was listening to Rush Limbaugh and he played audio clips of two of these widows denouncing the Bush ad. Rush pointed out several parallels: they both said the same things! (You can check the transcipt on Rush’s websight.) They sounded like they were coached. Suspicious indeed. But since it’s Katie Couric that did one of the interviews, then I’m not at all surprised.

Oh, President AWOL can glom the 9/11 tragedy onto himself but Kerry can’t talk about the Vietnam War Bush ran away from? Bush supporters constantly scream “How dare you question our most Holy Bush? What about 9/11–Bush is great–9/11!” Karl Rove uses the footage in his ads, and Bush will accept the nomination on the 3rd anniversary on 9/11 at Ground Zero! Karl Rove is even trying to shut down Howard Stern because Howard has turned anti-Bush. It’s called politics and it should be appreciated by all you Bush supporters who think John McCain’s adopted daughter from Bangledesh is really a bastard Mulatto from an adulterous affair with a Black whore.

All I got was a white screen.
In any case, I don’t think the words of vet should be taken as any standard or commonality.
Just as i think jsut because Kerry was in Vietnam doesn’t mean he should be free of criticism, or that his views on war are more correct or even correct just because..

Karl Rove spread the lie that John McCain has a bastard Mulatto daughter from a Black whore in 2000. I bring that up and you call me an idiot. The Bush campaign is the master of the smear and you know it.

OOOOOOOOOH! The eeeevil Karl Rove is out to get all the poor little democrats. Run! Hide! Hey Jay, if you think it’s bad now, Just wait until Rove gets to work on Kerry fulltime. By the time he gets through, Kerry will be lucky if he wins a single state.

And Matt, he doesn’t play politics with war. He just talks about what’s really going on there.
