They Will Never Let It Die

By Matt Margolis | February 11, 2004

I can’t believe how absolutely ridiculous the Democrats are this election season. They clearly will do anything to win in November… regardless of how ridiculous.

The White House provided documentary evidence that Bush completed his service in the National Guard… that still isn’t good enough for them:

The records, some being released for the first time, didn’t satisfy Democratic National Committee Chairman Terry McAuliffe. He argued that the payroll and summary service records posed more questions than they answered.

“The fact remains that there is still no evidence that George W. Bush showed up for duty as ordered while in Alabama,” McAuliffe said.

For crying out loud. They just don’t want this die do they? We went through this in 2000 - why the hell are we talking about it today? What’s the point the Democrats are trying to make? It’s okay to be draft-dodger, but it’s a horrendous crime if someone allegedly didn’t complete their service in the National Guard?

Are they trying to suggest that Bush is unfit for the presidency because of this? Well, Bush has already served 3 years of his first term, I think at this point we have better things to gauge his leadership on than service that happened back in the 1970’s.

We are fightin a war against terrorism, and the best thing the Democrats can argue about is Bush’s past military service?

If the distant past is so relevant, then shouldn’t John Kerry’s deplorable record of voting against the military and the CIA be questioned? Why don’t the Democrats (who suddenly care so much about military service) question Kerry’s clear distaste for the military?

George W. Bush has shown his ability to be Commander-In-Chief fighting the global war on terror. His service in the National Guard - be it great or mediocre - is superceeded by the actual job he’s done as President. If the Democrats want to bring up anything as issue, atleast do it on Bush’s recent record as President.

But hey, if they want to play that game, then the joke is on them. John Kerry’s record is not one I’d want to gamble on.

Is this a sign that the Dems don’t got anything else to run on?

Matt, of course Democrats don’t want this to die. Clinton had a blow job, and Republicans almost impeached him. Avoiding military service is a more serious sin.

But, what is wrong with dodging military service? So many people did it in the 1970’s. Bush should just openly say that he missed the six months of service, before Democrats find out about coverups and strings his daddy had to pull. It happened so long ago that nobody who is not already a Bush-hater should be swayed by that argument.

Matt– On October 15, 1992, the Bush Quayle campaign put out a press release saying that because of the controversy and the questions, that Governor Clinton should release all documents relating to his draft status, and went on to list letters to the Selective Service system, to the Reserve Officer Training Corps, the Army, the Navy, the Air Force, the Marines, the Coast Guard, the Departments of State and Justice, any foreign embassy or consulate.

To this date, Bush hasn’t done what his father requested of Clinton.

Why won’t W. do the same? If it was fair game in ‘92 its fair game now.

Anyone see William Saffire’s column in the New York Times today???

    Link: http://tinyurl.com/2q9qd

It’s the SMOKING Gun the Liberal Democrats were hoping, praying that we would never find. My Opinion: the end of Saffire’s article, seals the deal for me and reassures me that President Bush was dead-on target all along:

“Of the liberation’s three casus belli, one was to stop mass murder, bloodier than in Kosovo; we are finding horrific mass graves in Iraq. Another was informed suspicion that a clear link existed between world terror and Saddam; this terrorist plea for Qaeda reinforcements to kill Iraqi democracy is the smoking gun proving that. The third was a reasoned judgment that Saddam had a bioweapon that could wipe out a city; in time, we are likely to find a buried suitcase containing that, too.”

Chimpy couldn’t even handle a cushy stateside gig and ran out to daddy. This while the brave, awesome and progressive Lt. Kerry got wounded rescuing poor blacks sent by the rich, white, racist fascists to die.

    Kerry by 250 electoral votes.

If Bush really spent all that time in the National Guard he could have come up with something better than 6 pay stubs. Back in 2000 anybody who served with Bush would have been trotted out in testimonials to say how great it was serving with Bush. We haven’t seen one guy yet. Karl Rove is just trying to delay, delay, delay until after November. It’s the same reason why we can’t seem to get anything solved about Valerie Wilson, 9/11, or WMDs, yet Janet Jackson almost shows a nipple and the far right reptiles leap into action 2 days later.

Mike the pimple faced trollmonkey hardly warrants a response. As for Jay, the way the donks are clinging to this AWOL non-issue, it’s giving them an air of desperation. Like all the previous “scandals” that the democrats have attempted to link to Bush, this one will either die on the vine or blow up in the donk’s faces. Trotting out conspiricy theories at every turn makes the democrats look paranoid and idiotic to everyone but the far left moonbat base. The thing is, all this trashing of democrat candidates have been done by the donks themselves. The GOP/Karl Rove campaign machine hasn’t even started to weigh in yet. Should be an interesting few months coming up.
