Kerry’s Record Make Him Weak
By Matt Margolis | February 8, 2004
-Senator Zell Miller (D-GA)
on FNC’s “Hannity & Colmes” 2/3/04
John Kerry is weak for a lot of reasons. While his surprise victory in Iowa has catapulted him far ahead his rivals, his own record as the Senate is a closet full of skeletons that’s perhaps just as bad as the contents of Howard Dean’s yet-to-be-unsealed gubernatorial records in Vermont - and it’s all coming back to haunt him.
Yesterday it was reported “At least three times in his Senate career, Democratic presidential hopeful John Kerry has recommended individuals for positions at federal home loan banks just before or after receiving political contributions from the nominees.”
Kerry’s people of course, insist the timing of the donations and nominations are “coincidence.”
“Sen. Kerry recommends dozens of very qualified individuals each year without regard to their politics or contributions. In this case each of the individuals were highly qualified for the jobs they were appointed to and served with distinction,” spokeswoman Stephanie Cutter said.
Kerry’s wife may have 57 varieties, but he has 57 excuses. Unable to accept accountability for his own past actions at Senator, we are hearing these ridiculous excuses, explanations and clarifications. It’s Howard Dean’s big mouth all over again – only this time, the “big mouth” is Kerry’s entire career as a Senator from Massachusetts which has no chance of helping him in the election.
“Kerry is out there saying he is not being part of that game, yet he is the product of the same money system,” says Larry Noble, former chief lawyer for the Federal Election Commission who now heads the Center for Responsive Politics, “It’s like a game where you say the people who support me just want good government, but the people who support my opponent are special interests.”
Kerry, who also leaves no opportunity missed to tell the world he is a Vietnam Veteran and chooses to rest his viability as a candidate on that fact, delivered a belittling insult to National Guard service by comparing it to draft-dodging:
If people went to Canada, if people opposed the war, if people chose to be in the Guard, that’s their choice, and I’ve never raised that in an issue.
How can Kerry insult the 460,000 men and women serving in the Air and Army National Guard like that? That’s a real slap in the face to the more than 28,000 soldiers in Iraq right now that are from the National Guard and Reserves.
And Kerry wants to be Commander-In-Chief? Does he really think the military will vote for him?
Kerry’s record as Senator, as has been previously discussed here is nothing to brag about regarding defense and national security.
We need a true leader as President.
We need a President who supports our military and is strong on defense.
We need George W. Bush in the White House for another four years.

I find it ironic that the (now-defunct) “Waffle Powereed Howard” website was actually set up by a bunch of Kerry supporters, because it looks like Kerry is just as guilty (if not guiltier) of waffling.

I like Zell Miller, but I want to know why is he still a Democrat if he’s so right winged in his thinking. Another Democrat that I like (okay, that’s only two) is DAVID SHIPPERS. If there were more principled Dems like Messurs Zell and Shippers who vote for PRINCIPLE over PARTY, then I’d vote/support democrats once in a while if I felt that the Republican choice wasn’t conservative enough

Well, Zell is retiring once his term is up this year. When he joined the Dems they were a different party (or so his book is supposed to say) and he feels alienated by them.

Jaws, I know he’s retiring, but still he’s known for some time that the Dems weren’t the same party, so he could have bolted and gone GOP at least 4 years ago to ofset “Jumping Jim’s” bolt to “independent”, and maybe even taken David Shippers with him. Heck, if that had happened 6 years ago, Clinton would have been sent to the slammer!
