One Fine Facelift

Sunday, January 25th, 2004

Since I started this whole blogging thing just about a year ago, I have to say I’ve met some great people. As busy as I am I’ve nevre had the time to learn a lot of the technical things that are required to really run and maintain a blog - I’ve picked up a few things along the way, but I’ve not been able to obtain proficiency.

Jay over at ‘One Fine Jay’, has just helped give my recently upgraded site a nicer, cleaner look. Jay introduced me to WordPress, the blogging software that I currently use. His help has been much needed, and very much appreciated. Without his help, I’d probably still be running B2 and not liking the limitations it had.

While I’m on thanks and recognitions, Mike of Owl Eye Designs has also helped me with some code issues, tinkering with the templates, and upgrading my blogging software.

And of course, there’s Nikki who convinced me to start a blog when my only response was “What the fuck is a blog?”

So, thanks Jay, Mike and Nikki

Isn’t It Ironic

Don’tchya think?

The winner of this week’s “Hoosier Millionaire” game show died after being hit by a pickup truck just hours after the show’s taping, authorities said Friday.

Carl D. Atwood, 73, won $57,000 on Thursday during a taping of the television game show in Indianapolis, Hoosier Lottery Director Jack Ross said.
After the two-hour taping, which will air tonight, Atwood returned to his hometown of Elwood with the check, Ross said.

About 7 p.m., Atwood was crossing Main Street a block from his home — on his way to the grocery store where he had bought the ticket that got him on the show — when a black pickup rounded a corner and struck him, said Elwood Police Chief Toby R. Barker.

What are the odds?

Internet Voting Is Not Secure Enough

Wednesday, January 21st, 2004

Can I get a “duhhhhhh!!!”

A new $22 million system to allow soldiers and other Americans overseas to vote via the Internet is inherently insecure and should be abandoned, according to members of a panel of computer security experts asked by the government to review the program.

The system, Secure Electronic Registration and Voting Experiment, or SERVE, was developed with financing from the Department of Defense and will first be used in this year’s primaries and general election.

I am totally against Internet voting. I think it will severely corrupt elections, making it too easy for voter fraud…

I hope it never gets used. I have a feeling though that Hillary Clinton would love it.
