Franken: The Lying Liar Behind Microphone
By Matt Margolis | January 15, 2004
Looks like the lying liar himself, Al Franken, will be taking his liberal the rhetoric behind the microphone:
Ending months of speculation, political humorist Al Franken has signed a deal to host a three-hour daily talk radio program for Progress Media, a New York City-based firm that is trying to launch a national liberal talk radio network.
Ha! This ought to be amusing. Franken said in an statement, “Quite simply, my plan is to alter the political landscape, drive this radical right-wing president from office and stand as a beacon for ordinary Americans who work hard and play by the rules,”
What an idiot. Play by the rules? Let me tell Al Franken about the rules of talk radio. You don’t just buy a talk radio network and fill up with shows to suit your negative agenda. The radio hosts who have made it big, did so the hard way, by starting at the bottom, and earning their way to prestige and a large devoted listenership.
Franken said in an interview that he will have a co-host, whom he declined to identify, and that the show will include a mix of guests, produced comedy and listener calls.
Indication number one that liberal talk radio will be a flop…Franken can’t even do a show by himself!
Franken likely to get a time slot putting him up against Rush Limbaugh.
Al Franken, I’d wish you good luck, but you don’t need luck, you need a miracle.

Dennis Miller also got a radio show
I think that Franken should try for the 12-3 time slot. That would be entertaining. 20-25 million listening to Rush….and how many listening to Franken?
Perhaps a Franken vs. Oreilly radio thing would be interesting

My man Howard Stern gets higher ratings and more listeners than the Oxycontin addict, and he’s not even available in all the markets, because the GOP pezzonovante keep him out through backdoor means. He’s far more entertaining the Oxy addict ever was, and is more in touch with Middle America. Howard’s no liberal, but since Bush supporter circles a “lib” is anyone who doesn’t take on faith everything Bush says solely because Bush said it, he’s branded the enemy. Give me lesbian dial-a-date over that bloated gasbag ranting off on tangents while poppong little blues anytime

Jay,
I do not know about Stern’s ratings, if you could offer a link that would be helpful.
In any case, I don’t consider Stern and Limbaugh to appeal to the same demographic where either’s ratings are even a basis to judge one as better than the other or more popular than the other.

Stern seems to be on radio more as a “shock jock” and for entertainment where as Rush is more political.
I wouldn’t be suprised that Stern has higher ratings. Not only is he better known, he has the morning drive time-slot, has a movie and has a show on E!

Different markets.. Appeal to different dmeographics… they may play the same sport, but are in two different leagues…
On the sports analogy… Liberal talk radio will be just like XFL.. a lot of hype, high expectations (from the left anyways) and ultimately a flop.
