The Real Grassroots Campaign of 2004

By Matt Margolis | December 1, 2003

Democratic Lost-Cause Howard Dean would like to believe his grassroots campaign is the largest in the history of presidential politics.

However, he is dead wrong. He’s wrong on the issues and he’s wrong about his campaign.

George W. Bush’s campaign website has already signed up 6 million supporters.

Howard Dean, on the other hand doesn’t even come close. According to his website, he only has 512,183 supporters (as of November 29, 2003). GeorgeWBush.com has signed up nearly 12 times as many of supporters.

Those of us who participate in Wictory Wednesdays and Letters To The Editor Fridays - we’re the members of the true largest grassroots campaign in presidential politics. Those of us who are on the Blogroll for Bush, and donate to the campaign - we’re the ones making history. Those of us who spread the word of Bush’s successful presidency in our blogs and join Bush2004 Meetup - we’re the ones playing for the winning team.

Let’s continue to make history. Let’s all do our part to help the Blogroll For Bush (at Blogs for Bush) grow. Let’s all do our part to make donations to the campaign and to encourage others to donate to the campaign during Wictory Wednesdays. Let’s all do our part to use newspapers to help get the word out about President Bush’s successful agenda by participating in Letters To The Editor Fridays. Let’s all do our part to meet and organize with local supporters of George W. Bush through Bush2004 Meetup.

We will make history. We will win in 2004.

God Bless America.

Hehehe. Directly comparing the primary campaign of a candidate who is competing against a field of 8 others in his party, who isn’t an incumbent president, against an incumbent president who is running unopposed?

Come on Matt, I know you want to make him look good but that’s just silly.

Emmett, is Howard Dean is the “frontrunner” then one can assume that the other eight don’t have as high of numbers as him…

Lets give a hypothetical situation, lets just say that each of the 8 remaining Democrats have an approximately equal number of supporters (we’ll round to 400,000 each - and this is extraordinarily kind) the combined total doesn’t compare with Bush’s current grassroots support.

Bare in mind, the Democrats are the ones campaigning, not Bush. So, in the end this is even more impressive for our President.

Wow… all you can do is focus on a typo, and ignore the actual point…

    Good one.

    The Real Grassroots Campaign
Last night I was perusing the blogs when I noticed a large number of the sites I frequent refer to themselves as a “Blog For Bush”. As regular readers of this space know, Earthly Passions has regularly taken conservative positions

    Repeat after me:

    Bush is an incumbent.
    Bush is an incumbent.
    Bush is an incumbent.

There, now does it make sense? Someone who has run an entire presidential campaign before will of course have more registered supporters than the other side. Being the incumbent is a real advantage.

Well, depending on the economy :P.
