Bush’s Thanksgiving in Baghdad

By Matt Margolis | November 27, 2003

Bush has once again amazed me:

BAGHDAD, Iraq (AP) - President Bush made a surprise Thanksgiving visit to American troops in Baghdad Thursday, flying secretly to violence-scarred Iraq to thank U.S. forces for serving there. It was the first trip ever by an American president to Iraq - a mission tense with concern about his safety.

“You are defending the American people from danger and we are grateful,” Bush told some 600 soldiers who were stunned and delighted by his appearance.

George W. Bush is my Commander-In-Chief, and I’m proud to say that.

More on Bush’s visit here and here.

Bush and his minions were in Iraq only to ceremoniously pick up the first check from the stolen oil and consficated land. They also flew low to pick off ragheads because he wanted to get in on the fun.

Why were there no African-Americans in that hand-picked dinner sham?

Yeah Bob, that was a good one!

    No African Americans?

    Look here.
    And look here.
    Here too.
    Don’t forget this one
    This one too.

Of course spending time with the troops in Iraq was the right thing to do, and I’m glad Bush did it. Now, the way he turned it into a political event is a bit shameful, but would have had to be actively avoided and is to be expected from a major politician anyway. However, why hasn’t Bush attended any soldiers funerals? He could even do it in “secret”…

Emmett, if he went to some funerals you’d be accusing him of politicizing that too.

Don’t try and play that game.

Bush: Happy Turkey eatin’ day, boys… I know I wasn’t entirely truthful with y’all before I sent you over to this here hellhole… and maybe we misunderestimated all the evil that would go on after our mission was accomplished… but I am so arrogant, that I know me comin’ over here for half a day makes it all better. So…hope y’all don’t get killed… And remember if you vote Bush/Cheney to another term… will give you 4 more wars.

Jarvis:Happy Turkey holocaust day, persons…I knew that I was a pathetic sack of dog excrement before I came over to this blog….and maybe I misunderestimated how much my ignorance and stupidity would be displayed when I posted my leftist psyco-babble in an effort to be “funny”…. But I’m such an arrogant asshat, that I know me comin’ over here to make an insipid moronic post before I run like a coward back to DU or Atrios makes it all better. So…hope y’all don’t vote republican…And remember if you vote for one of the democrat dwarves… will give you 4 years of a socialist utopia while islamic terrorists explode bombs in our cities

I guess some of you haven’t heard that Bush actuallyl never went to Iraq for Thanksgiving.

Apparently, the whole event was staged in a Hollywood studio with
fraternity boys costumed as G.I.s. standing around looking
awestruck. And it wasn’t actually a turkey on that platter. It
was a cooked goose, catered in from Chez Pierre’s. The buzz goes
on to explain that the movie version of the event will feature a
computer-generated Air Force One landing at a darkened Burbank
    Airport.

When I learned of this news at the Thanksgiving table, I was overcome with emotions. Love him or hate him, President Bush is an incredible president and I am happy to be one of his supporters. His trip during this holiday, or should I say sacrifice, shows his love for our country and the troops fighting for our safety and freedom.
