Just Don’t Use Any Big Words
By Matt Margolis | November 11, 2003
PC or Mac? That was the question.
That in fact was the question suggested by CNN for a college student to ask the Democratic presidential candidates when they were in Boston for the debate, which was co-sponsored by Rock the Liberal Vote.
CNN spokeswoman Christa Robinson said the cable network regrets the producer’s actions. She would not identify the employee.
“In an attempt to encourage a lighthearted moment in this debate, a CNN producer working with Ms. Trustman clearly went too far,” she said. All of the other questions from the audience originated from the person asking them, she said
Uh huh. Well, to be honest, I really don’t care. The question had no relevence to anything that thinking people would take into account when voting.
Do we want lighthearted questions to keep the debate warm and fuzzy? Or do we want real questions with real answers?
PC or Mac? Who cares?
Some better questions would have been,
“Howard Dean, can you tell us why you strongly support partially delivering a healthy child and then jamming scissors into his or her head and sucking their brains out?”
“General Clark… wait a minute I changed I mind.”
“John Kerry, what does your vote on the Iraq Resolution mean to you today?”
“Carol Moseley Braun, buying or selling?”
“Dennis Kucinich, why haven’t you dropped out yet?”
“Dick Gephardt… where are you?”
“Joe Lieberman… nevermind.”
“Al Sharpton, who are you kidding?”
Seriously, why wouldn’t CNN want real questions about policy to be asked instead of what kind of computer they use? Is it perhaps they know that by questioning the Democrats on policy, iot will be revealed that they have none?
Or maybe they just know that the Nine Dwarfs are all just bunch of liberal idiots…

I know that some people treat the choice between Mac and PC with religious fervor, but I didn’t know the strife had gotten serious enough to be the subject of candidacy questioning…

So…this allegedly intelligent student, from this allegedly Ivy league university…why didn’t she just go ahead and ask the question she wanted to ask? Because they told her she couldn’t? What was CNN going to do…have her arrested? What an idiot.
Then again, her original question was, “How do you plan to use technology in your administration?” A gazillion dollars for an Ivy league education, and that’s the best you can come up with?

I’d expect that kind of question if Slashdot had hosted the debate, but that was a pointless question.
Although, imagine how funny it would’ve been if one candidate had said “Linux”

This is why the 19th amendment must be repealed.

What Bush actually said when he took oath:
I swear to Thee, Adolph Hitler,
As Fuhrer and Chancellor of the German Reich,
Loyalty and Bravery.
I Vow to Thee and to the superiors
Whom Thou shalt appoint
Obedience unto Death,
So help me God

I saw the inauguration, and i’m sure otehrs did too.. so we all know you are full of pig shit. I bet Hitlery Clinton keeps that on her welcome mat.

oooh java has some doubt. i cant believe how incredibly stupid the rightwing idiots are on this website.
“I saw the inauguration, and i’m sure otehrs did too.. so we all know you are full of pig shit. ”
i dont think he meant it literally java. it is about his war on human rights and the nazi ties of his family.
November 12th, 2003 at 12:32 pm
Doubt? I’m not sure what you think is doubt.
Calling Bush a Nazi is about as far from the truth as you get.
I don’t know about you, but in this time of the war on terror, I have no problem with the Patriot Act. Even with it, this is the most free country on the planet. You don’t like it? Get the fuck out.
November 12th, 2003 at 3:19 pm
That’s OK, Java…remember what Dennis Miller says to do with people who say Bush=Hitler.
November 12th, 2003 at 5:36 pm
sorry. don’t watch dennis miller.

You’re question shwos you’re uninformed on the issue.
I can’t comment on ‘partial birth abortions” because there is no such thing. However third trimester Dilation adn extraction, which is sometimes referred to as a partial birth abortion by pro-lifers, is done when the fetus has severe abnormalities and threatens the womans life. It is the only third trimester abortion that is legal.

If you read the actual article, the question about technology rephrasing was her attempt to make the PC vs. Mac question even slightly more relevant. They wouldn’t even let her ask that one. She could have asked something else and been editted out, I guess. So, yes, CNN is a bunch of morons, but don’t blame her.
And it’s not allegedly Ivy League, it *is* Ivy League. By which I means it participates in the Ivy League of sports.

Ed, does “severe abnormalities” include just being alive? or simply, “unwanted”?
Emmett, read the transcript:
I’m a freshman at Brown University. And going to college this year, I was confused with an important decision. My mom advised me one way; my dad the other. And so my question for you all is — and it’s not quite boxers or briefs, but Macs or PCs?

Not relevent at all.
November 13th, 2003 at 2:10 pm
Cute. severe abnormalities mean exactly that.
November 13th, 2003 at 2:11 pm
severe abnormalities mean exactly that.

Java, read the commentary behind the transcript. CNN required that she read it, or they’d get someone else to do it. I don’t think she should have knuckled under, but that makes her guilty of not standing by her principles, not stupidity.
