Switching Servers

Monday, June 23rd, 2003

I’d like to give everyone the heads up, that my website might experience some down time this evening. As some of you probably already noticed, this site uses a virtual domain (www.mattmargolis.com) which directs to a site on my webspace provided by my ISP. The blog is also hosted by my friend Nikki on her domain. Hopefully, as long as there are no hitches, the entire site and blog will be moved to a permanent, real domain - which will still be www.mattmargolis.com.

I’m not sure at what point tonight the transfer will occur. But you will know when it happens, for when the site is transfered, the new expanded site will also be posted. Yes, the site you’ve all been waiting for.

So, this will likely be my last blog entry until the switch. So hopefully the next time I see you all it will be on my own permanent and real domain.

It Won’t Be Good Enough For The Liberals

Saturday, June 21st, 2003

So, this morning I learned on Fox News that U.S. forces uncovered an “Intelligence Jackpot.” Documents bearing the seal of Saddam Hussein’s secret service were found a community hall in Baghdad.

The documents, which were handed over to senior intelligence analysts, mentioned Iraq’s nuclear program and may possibly contain information regarding Iraq’s weapons of mass destruction

Now, let’s not jump the gun here. We’ll see how this turns up. However, let’s say there s some very damning evidence in there that Iraq had an active nuclear weapons program and other WMDs.

Wouldn’t that close the book on the issue?

I’d like to say it would, but it won’t.

Nothing - I repeat - nothing will ever satisfying liberals in this situation except a nuclear, biological, or chemical attack - so they can blame Bush for it.

These documents, no matter what they prove, will never be good enough for the liberals. If they prove beyond a shadow of a doubt that Bush was right - the documents will be accused of being fabricated by the U.S. Watch, someone will allege such a theory in the event that happens.

So let’s just simplify this whole process. If these documents prove everything Bush has been saying, I’ll admit that I put those documents there. I’ll admit I made them up.

Will that satisfy the liberals?

It will satisfy them more than Bush having a huge political victory.

So lay it on me libs… If these documents prove Saddam had WMDs, I’ll take the blame for whatever theory it is you’ll come up with as to why that isn’t good enough.

I’m ready for ya.

Protesting the Dixie Chicks

Friday, June 20th, 2003

The Dixie Chicks protest was a lot of fun. The size of the group varied due to late comers and people who had to leave early, however there was a solid 12 of us there, and I believe possibly 15 in total.

Where to begin? Well, I guess it’s noteworthy that it was a sold out show at the FleetCenter in Boston. We gave our show outside by the entrance to the Green Line on Causeway Sreet. My brother Aaron and I went directly from work. We hadn’t met the other protesters in person before that night; I spoke to some online previously and coordinated this event through FreeRepublic.com.

The signs we display were diverse and many. Some were more serious than others. Some were just outright hilarious and meant to stir up reaction. It was all in good fun.

We came across all types of Dixie Chicks fans. Some stared at us bewildered. Some walked on disgusted. Others, and there were more of these types than I expected, actually cheered us for our efforts.

That’s right. Many people told us the only reason they were still going to the show was because they had bought their tickets before Natalie Maines made her big stupid statement.

We made a lot of cheers, we kept our voices going loud and strong toward the concertgoers.

“USA! USA! USA!”
“Support the President! Support the troops!”
“Burn Your Tickets – not the flag!”
“We have freedom of speech too!”
“George Bush 2004”

We sang “God Bless America” and others…

Sometimes, there was a concertgoer who made crude remarks to us. The most common remark being “Hey, freedom of speech!”

To which I’d shout back “Hey, we have freedom of speech too!”
One of my fellow protesters would also yell back “That’s right! That’s why we’re here.”

We kept coming up with new things to say, which amused ourselves, and got incredible reactions from the concertgoers. Some would even come up to us to tell us we were wrong for what we were doing. Some told us to get a life. We were called losers.

Hey, we were having a good time. Free speech at its best. Which it appears liberals don’t understand. To them, only they have the right to free speech – we didn’t. But that’s another topic for another blog entry.

Interestingly enough, we made it in the news. Several local stations videotaped us, and the
Boston Globe and the Boston Herald mentioned us in their music reviews of the concert.

The Boston Globe gave us a larger, yet somewhat inaccurate mention. In a review titled
“Dixie Chicks arrive to little dissent, and thrill their audience and thrill their fans. In fact, our protest kicked off the review:

The protesters looked lonely last night. There were only about six of them, clustered out front of the FleetCenter and holding signs with messages such as ”Deport the Dixie Twits” and ”Support President Bush and Our Troops.” And nearby were a couple of people staging a counter-protest; one held a sign saying, ”God bless freedom of speech.”

The whole thing was very tame, even though Dixie Chick Martie Maguire later told the sold-out FleetCenter crowd that ”we heard a brawl broke out” between the protesters and Chicks fans. A police officer said he had heard nothing about it, but it made for a provocative comment on stage. And it got more provocative when Maguire referenced the supposed brawl by saying, ”I think I would put my money down on your guys. . . . If there’s one thing I’ve learned since March 10, it’s that nobody tells you guys what to do.”

Inaccuracy #1: There were at least 12 of us when I arrived.
Inaccuracy #2: There was no counter-protest. Ron, who helped organized this protest, held the sign which read “God Bless Freedom of Speech”
Inaccuracy #3: There was no brawl.

It’s kind of incredible if you think about it. I’m sure some troll will read this and say “Only 12? That’s nothing.” Maybe it wasn’t a huge crowd, but we made enough of an impression to merit the Dixie Chicks mention us during their show. That says something.

We finished after a couple hours, once there weren’t any people coming into the FleetCenter. I’d write more, but I’m hoping to get some other people who attended the protest to write about it here, so I’ll post a few pictures for now, and see what happens.

We lined the passage to the FleetCenter entrance - here’s one side of us.

Here’s the other side.

My brother is the one on the right.

I’m the one in the middle. Like the sign?

Some signs are just priceless!

Here’s most of us. Some people had to leave early.

John Kerry

Friday, June 20th, 2003

If people feel strongly enough about an issue, than whether or not I agree with them, I’ll respect their opinion… However, when a person changes his opinion on an issue rather drastically, you have to wonder.

Why does someone support something one day, and change his mind the next?

I guess we should be used to Democrats doing this. Al Gore and Joe Lieberman both have changed their views of certain issues upon their being chosen as Democratic running mates for a presidential candidate.

Well, I guess you still can’t teach an old Dem new tricks.

John Kerry, who, while neglecting his job as Senator from my state, said this past Wednesday that Bush, misled Americans regarding the threat Iraq posed to the United States. ”He misled every one of us,” Kerry said. ”That’s one reason why I’m running to be president of the United States.”

Expected… So yeah, whatever, they’re all saying that. Kerry went on, ”I will not let him off the hook throughout this campaign with respect to America’s credibility and credibility to me because if he lied he lied to me personally.”

Kerry’s base support will eat this stuff up, but it’s not going to work with most people.

However, the reason issue here is not just about what he said this week. Well, actually it is.

Because Kerry is lying. He lied to every single person in that audience, and considering the attention his word got, he’s lied to the entire United States.

Kerry doesn’t believe a word he said. All he believes is that he’s saying what he needs to say to get elected. For the power. He wants the power, and he’ll lie all along the way to get it.

It was reported on the Drudge Report that Kerry, is on record, on the Congressional Record, as having been absolutely for going in to Iraq.

I shall post the quotes here for your quick reference:

“It is not possible to overstate the ominous implications for the Middle East if Saddam were to develop and successfully militarize and deploy potent biological weapons. We can all imagine the consequences. Extremely small quantities of several known biological weapons have the capability to exterminate the entire population of cities the size of Tel Aviv or Jerusalem. These could be delivered by ballistic missile, but they also could be delivered by much more pedestrian means; aerosol applicators on commercial trucks easily could suffice. If Saddam were to develop and then deploy usable atomic weapons, the same holds true.” (Sen. John Kerry, Congressional Record, 11/9/97, pp. S12254 -S12255)

‘[Saddam Hussein] cannot be permitted to go unobserved and unimpeded toward his horrific objective of amassing a stockpile of weapons of mass destruction. This is not a matter about which there should be any debate whatsoever in the Security Council, or, certainly, in this Nation.”(Sen. John Kerry, Congressional Record, 11/9/97, pp. S12254 -S12255)

“In my judgment, the Security Council should authorize a strong U.N. military response that will materially damage, if not totally destroy, as much as possible of the suspected infrastructure for developing and manufacturing weapons of mass destruction, as well as key military command and control nodes. Saddam Hussein should pay a grave price, in a currency that he understands and values, for his unacceptable behavior. This should not be a strike consisting only of a handful of cruise missiles hitting isolated targets primarily of presumed symbolic value.” (Sen. John Kerry, Congressional Record, 11/9/97, pp. S12254 -S12255)

“Were its willingness to serve in these respects to diminish or vanish because of the ability of Saddam to brandish these weapons, then the ability of the United Nations or remnants of the gulf war coalition, or even the United States acting alone, to confront and halt Iraqi aggression would be gravely damaged.” (Sen. John Kerry, Congressional Record, 11/9/97, pp. S12254 -S12255)

“[W]hile we should always seek to take significant international actions on a multilateral rather than a unilateral basis whenever that is possible, if in the final analysis we face what we truly believe to be a grave threat to the well-being of our Nation or the entire world and it cannot be removed peacefully, we must have the courage to do what we believe is right and wise.” (Sen. John Kerry, Congressional Record, 11/9/97, pp. S12254 -S12255)

So what happened between November 7, 1997, and today?

That’s an easy one: Bill Clinton, a Democrat, left office, and George W. Bush, a Republican took office.

It’s who’s in the White House, stupid!

Kerry has flip flopped. As George W. Bush enjoys high popularity for fighting the War on Terror, Kerry is trying to change history, by suggesting today that Iraq never posed a threat, Kerry has taken the War on Terror, and politicized it in his attempt to get into the White House.

He’s on record. Twice now. He’s made a complete 180. All in the name of his futile attempt to become President.

Sad. Very sad.

The past week has been an interesting one. Democrats are wanting Bush to make a “compromise” on judicial nominees to the Supreme Court in the name of bipartisanship – and here is Kerry, caught in a lie in the most extreme case of blind partisanship and dirty Democrat tricks.

Are we supposed to believe Kerry is the moral compass to lead this nation?

Take a seat Kerry, and get comfortable on the MattMargolis.com Liberal Idiots List.

If The Election Were Held Today

Friday, June 20th, 2003

Fox News released a poll today regarding the 2004 Election.

By 51 percent to 30 percent, Americans say they would vote for George W. Bush if the 2004 presidential election were held today.

Surprised?

What would Democrats like to see in their presidential nominee? Majorities prefer the Democratic candidate to have opposed the war with Iraq (56 percent), opposed the Bush tax cuts (55 percent), and to support a national health care plan (81 percent).

So Democrats would rather Saddam Hussein still be in power, they’d rather have the government steal more of their hard earned money, and they’d rather have socialized health care like in England.

No wonder why Bush is doing so well.

Discuss.

Boot Hillary

Thursday, June 19th, 2003

A story on the Drudge Report suggests the possibility that Ann Coulter’s forthcoming book “Treason” could knock Hillary’s book “Living Rewriting History” off the number one spot for a non-fiction book.

Okay, ignoring the debate over Hillary’s book being non-fiction or fiction, I say, if you’re going to buy a book this week, buy “Treason” and help knock Hillary off the top. If you weren’t planning on buying a book this week… well, buy “Treason” anyway.

Cop Shut Down Little Girl’s Lemonade Stand

NAPLES, June 18, 2003 - A six-year-old girl was heartbroken when her small lemonade stand was put out of business because she didn’t have a temporary business permit. A neighbor called the police and her stand was shut down.

Is there really anything to say about this except “What the hell?”

I don’t know what else to say about this.
