Teddy Won’t Support Arnold for CA Gov.
By Matt Margolis | June 29, 2003
The Associated Press reported today that Ted Kennedy will not support Arnold Schwarzenegger in his potential run for Governor of California.
“Listen, Arnold is great,” the Democratic senator from Massachusetts told the Boston Herald this week. “And I never argue with Arnold, particularly when he’s holding me by my ankles upside down. But I intend to support the Democrat.”
Personally, I don’t think even Arnold could hold Teddy upside down by his ankles.
“I’m not sure where Arnold gets his political instincts,” Kennedy said. “People often say that for Kennedys, it’s in the water. Arnold seems to be a staunch Republican, so I’ve asked Maria to check their plumbing.”
For you, Teddy, I think it really comes from the Chivas. What a stupid comment. First of all, it’s pretty sad that for the Kennedys, politics comes before family. Second, is Teddy implying that there is something wrong with anyone who’s “political instincts” are not as radical left wing as his own?
This tells me a lot. What does it say to you?
It says to me, that it is the perception of the Democrats that Republicans are “sick in the head” for their political instincts. Is he suggesting that the only reason Arnold believes what he believes is because there is something “in the water” that is effecting his ability to think?
Excuse me Teddy Kennedy, but Arnold is of much better mind and body than you could ever be.

i don’t know if you are aware or not, but i tihnk Ted Kennedy was making a joke. As far as your comment about Teddy implying that there is something wrong with people who have different opinions then his own, does the comment “because liberalism is a mental disorder” ring a bell? It should. Hypocrite. You need to be a bit more open minded old sport. Don’t be so darn cynical all the time, have some fun, you seem like you could use it. For your first fun filled activity i suggest removing the silver spoon from your ass.

Colin,
This brings up a point that I believe I’ve mentioned in the past, if not here, then in another blog or message board. The words of a politician are subject to different measures of decorum than someone like me, who, in one sense, is an entertainer, and a editorial pundit.
Part of what I do, is done with an intent to get a reaction. The purpose of my website is based on having an active audience – therefore, when I do something like post a quote like “because liberalism is a mental disorder” (which is a quote by Michael Savage) it is to get individuals, such as yourself to react. It’s advertising. Clearly it works.
Politicians on the other hand, whether it is fair or not, are subject to different rules of decorum. A liberal TV or radio commentator can say something like “Bush is an idiot,” however, politicians are not going to use those words. It’s just not proper for people in their position to do that. Do you think Bill Frist will go up to Robert Byrd and say “You Klansman, you’re a disgrace to the Senate, shut up.” No, you won’t.
So, in my opinion, for someone like Kennedy to make an implication that there something wrong with people who disagree with him, it doesn’t reflect well on him. If you disagree with me, that’s fine, I can respect that, but this is how I feel.

Im sorry, Arnold in politics seems just as ridiculous as Jesse Ventura out in Minnesota.
Im not saying they dont belong, but c’mon, they have to prove there way. I mean shoot, do you expect Pamela Anderson to up and decide to run and people taker her serious? Ha! Thats right up there with Hillary for Prez!

I’m not too aware of all of his beliefs and potential policies, but since he is a Republican, he stands a better chance of fixing their budget issues than any Democrat.

I don’t see how Arnold could be any worse than Gray Skies Davis.
