Dick (Less) Gephardt

With a stupid comment like that, Rep. Gephardt has just about ruined his chances of ever getting a nomination for Democratic candidate for President.

That’s what you get for trying to be an Oreo Cookie (or an Uh-Oh Oreo for that matter) solely to cater to your audience.

He made the above quote during a forum sponsored by Jesse Jackson’s Rainbow/PUSH Coalition in Chicago. And now he’s trying to “backpedal” on his statement.

I wonder why politicians can’t seem to stand behind their own statements after receiving criticism for it. Democrat or Republican for that matter.

When asked if he wanted to clarify his statement, Gephardt said “It was a basic statement you would make about anything.” That’s funny. The same thing happened to Trent Lott and he got run out of the Senate leadership for making a basic statement a person would make to a friend in honor of their 100th birthday. But who’s counting?

“You would always try to use an executive order to overcome things that you think have been done wrong. It may not be possible to overcome a Supreme Court decision if the decision had gone the other way, but there are times in the past where presidents have done important things through executive order that were legal.”

Yeah, I happen to remember Executive-Order-Friendly Bill Clinton doing that a lot.

“Usually, the court’s decisions stand and we have separation of powers and you can’t overcome everything that you might want to,” he said. “So you have got to follow the law, you have got to follow the precedence.

Funny he should say that. Especially since his buddies are trying to undermine the checks and balances system by suggesting. (See “Bastardization of Democracy” and “Bastardization of Democracy Part II” for more information on that topic.)

Gephardt said that if he were elected, an option to overcome a court ruling striking down the affirmative action programs might be to pass a law outlining a formula for a diversity program more favorable to the court.

So, Gephardt, if President, would abuse his powers to make the law of the land what he sees fit - regardless of the Supreme Court. Regardless of the fact that makes him a racist bastard who think blacks and other minorities can’t make it on there own so the government has to push them through the system so that in the end they never learn anything about responsible, end up worse than they would have been if they actually worked for their accomplishments.

It’s Hating Whitey time.

And for crying out loud, look at what some of the other Democrats said from this article:

Howard Dean:

“The president has divided us. He’s divided us by race by using the word ‘quotas.’ There’s no such thing as a quota at the University of Michigan, never has been.”

John Kerry:

“We deserve a president of the United States who doesn’t call fairness to minorities a special preference.”

Joe Lieberman:

“The ruling [on University of Michigan’s admission policies] may be mixed, but the message is clear: Affirmative action is constitutional and President Bush’s efforts to undermine it have failed.”

These people, are are idiots, and they’d rather buy the black vote instead of earn it. They’d rather bribe them with advantages in college admissions, college grading, job opportunities, etc. etc. Bush has done nothing to “undermine the constituion.” If anything, George W. Bush is a true believe in the Constitution, and especially in the 14th Amendment:

No state shall make or enforce any law which shall abridge the privileges or immunities of citizens of the United States; nor shall any state deprive any person of life, liberty, or property, without due process of law; nor deny to any person within its jurisdiction the equal protection of the laws.

Affirmative Action directly conflicts with the 14th Amendment. How dare Lieberman or any other Dem criticize Bush and accuse him of undermining the Constitution? How dard Dick Gephardt show blatent disregard for the constitution by saying that if something happens that he doesn’t like, he’ll just issue Executive Orders left and right to fix it? Is he the guy you want for President - a wannabe dictator?

Start packin’ away those Oreos Gephardt, you’ve made it on the MattMargolis.com Liberal Idiots List for your stupid comments, and your shameless way of trying to renege them.

    The Supreme Court also said that it’s okay for unborn child to be unnatural disposed of from the womb.

    They can’t be right all of the time.

    Jack, calling to task a comment because of a gramatical error is like hating a person because of his color. It’s not the appearance of the thing, but rather it’s content. Or is that a foreign concept?

    Regarding the idiot/grammar comment– I guess a sense of humor would be too much to ask for from you guys.

    Matt– I will agree that Supreme Court isn’t always right… they sure fucked up Bush v. Gore.

    And multiple posts? Not me, pal. I guess I am not the only one who disagrees with you.

    the constitution is so misinterpreted so many times. the death penalty for instance, how is that not ‘cruel and unusual’ punishment.
