It Won’t Be Good Enough For The Liberals
By Matt Margolis | June 21, 2003
So, this morning I learned on Fox News that U.S. forces uncovered an “Intelligence Jackpot.” Documents bearing the seal of Saddam Hussein’s secret service were found a community hall in Baghdad.
The documents, which were handed over to senior intelligence analysts, mentioned Iraq’s nuclear program and may possibly contain information regarding Iraq’s weapons of mass destruction
Now, let’s not jump the gun here. We’ll see how this turns up. However, let’s say there s some very damning evidence in there that Iraq had an active nuclear weapons program and other WMDs.
Wouldn’t that close the book on the issue?
I’d like to say it would, but it won’t.
Nothing - I repeat - nothing will ever satisfying liberals in this situation except a nuclear, biological, or chemical attack - so they can blame Bush for it.
These documents, no matter what they prove, will never be good enough for the liberals. If they prove beyond a shadow of a doubt that Bush was right - the documents will be accused of being fabricated by the U.S. Watch, someone will allege such a theory in the event that happens.
So let’s just simplify this whole process. If these documents prove everything Bush has been saying, I’ll admit that I put those documents there. I’ll admit I made them up.
Will that satisfy the liberals?
It will satisfy them more than Bush having a huge political victory.
So lay it on me libs… If these documents prove Saddam had WMDs, I’ll take the blame for whatever theory it is you’ll come up with as to why that isn’t good enough.
I’m ready for ya.

Take THAT liberals. Heh always so quick to shoot yourselves in the foot. Lets see what their “pull theur head out of their asses” move they will attempt to try to get out of this one.
P.S. I love how the demoncats try to appeal to the “Common man” but 10 of the 15 richest members of congress are democrats. Food for thought

What about this comment from George Will: “Some say the war was justified even if WMDs are not found nor their destruction explained, because the world is “better off” without Hussein. Of course it is better off. But unless one is prepared to postulate a U.S. right, perhaps even a duty, to militarily dismantle any tyranny — on to Burma? — it is unacceptable to argue that Hussein’s mass graves and torture chambers suffice as retrospective justifications for pre-emptive war. Americans seem sanguine about the failure — so far — to validate the war’s premise about the threat posed by Hussein’s WMDs, but a long-term failure would unravel much of this president’s policy and rhetoric.”
Should Mr. Will now be considered a liberal? Incidentally, his sentiments reflect the tenor of my comments since I started posting on this blog. Check my posts in the War Journal. http://www.mattmargolis.com/blog/index.php?cat=4

Matt– don’t you want to respond???

I’m sorry Jack, I can’t always be on top of every single comment made in this blog.
Your question, “Should Mr. Will now be considered a liberal?” Is an easy one to answer. No.
No more than a pro-choice Republican be considered a liberal, or a pro-death penalty Democrat be considered conservative.
I do not believe I have ever suggest decent from party platform, or decent from the party leadership on any given issue mean has an effect on their liberal or conservative status.
Does that answer your question? Or do you have a follow up?
Also, Jack, you need to keep in mind that I can’t always keep up with EVERY single comment posted on this blog. If you have an itching desire to hear my response to one your comments, you can e-mail me.

Thanks for responding, but please try to answer my questions in context.
You have claimed over and over again that “liberals” won’t accept that fact that we liberated Iraq as justification of the war. Its time to include conservatives in that statement as well. The war was sold to the public on the threat of WMDs. Smart conservatives like Will aren’t falling for the bait and switch. You shouldn’t either.

Actually, Jack,
I think my point was that when the WMDs are found, it still won’t be good enough for them. They’ll ask questions as to why it took so long. They’ll offer conspiracy theories about whether or not they were planted… etc. etc.
I was not referring to the post-war justifications.

What about when they are NOT found?
July 1st, 2003 at 1:58 pm
Well, see I have no reason to believe that they won’t be found.
This is my blog, so why don’t I ask you a question. What will you say when they are found?

To quote someone I know, “we’ll see”. Obviously, if it has taken this long, the immediacy of the the threat was SIGNIFICANTLY OVERPLAYED by bush. Basically, he lied. BTW, regarding those trailers of mass destruction, bush stated that in fact, “we found the WMDs”. Fucking moron…
