My Freedom of Speech
By Matt Margolis | June 18, 2003
I’ll admit that my experience with participating in actual protests is lacking. The main reason is I’m too busy trying to be a productive citizen by going to work during the week. I do hope to increase my involvement in political activities in the future.
Now, the reason why I am mentioning this today, is because I am participating in a protest tomorrow.
I, as well as atleast 20 others, are protesting the Dixie Chicks at their concert in Boston tomorrow night.
I know some people may be thinking “aren’t you beating a dead horse?” or something similar to that affect.
Maybe, maybe not. The truth is, I don’t care. Some of us are still pissed at what Natalie Maines said. Sure she had the right to say it, but her discretion was poor. The meaning of her words still echoes in the brains of some of us who don’t appreciate some dumb country girl bad mouting our President while in another country.
So we’re showing the Dixie Chicks that some of us have not forgotten.
If you want to say stuff like “Get over it,” or “Move on,” or whatever, don’t bother. I’m not interested in anyone’s approval. I’m going to have a good time with people, and send a message at the same time.
So, if you want to post a comment here, why don’t you share with the rest of us your experiences with protests. What was the last protest you were involved in? Why did you participate? Tell us the story of your activism.

I totally agree. How could you dislike a president who says things like,
” A dictatorship would be a heck of a lot easier, there’s no question about it” — Business Week, July 30, 2001

Ludis, if you knew about the context of that quote, instead of using something you found of some left-wing website of “Bushisms” you’d understand that George W. Bush was attempting to make a joke regarding his difficulties with Congress.
Bush said:
“Dealing with Congress is a matter of give and take. The president doesn’t get everything he wants, the Congress doesn’t get everything they want. But we’re finding good common ground.” After this is where he jokingly said “A dictatorship would be a heck of a lot easier, there’s no question about it.”

He has said it multiple times. There are some things you do not joke about. It is not funny, but you kind of are.

Man, youre my hero. That is so awesome that you’re going to protest them! Serious props. You shoudl have seen Texas after that incident. I saw signs on the road “Exile The Chixie Dicks”, colleges held “Dixie Flies” where they had contests to see who could throw their cds the farthest. It was great.
The thing is, if we just forget and move on, they get away with murder. And they are going to have the reap the consequences of their actions.

And each time Bush has jokingly made that sort of comment, that’s just what it was. A joke. You take yourself way too seriously, Ludis.

Ludis — I can tell by the way you write that you are an incompetint kum guzzling pederast. Believe me I know!!1! Quit whining and go back to Democraps.com!

Right on Dave!!!!!! I know what you mean about these commie trolls. The Dixie Bitches can suck my $$%@@! We can never forget their TREASON. Ann Coulter makes a great argument about protesters are guilty of treason. Why are the Dixie Bitches any different?
Have fun at the protest Matt. I hope they see you giving them hell!

Like I said you will more likely get spit on for showing up at their Concert, then get props for being brave enough to pick a fight with a bunch of girls.

It’s a pretty fuuny joke too, rhesa, just like when he said, “There ought to be limits to freedom.”
Dave, Why are you always bringing up little boys and male fluids? We know how you sexually repressed right wingers feel about little boys, you don’t need to throw it in our faces.

To get back to the point, what are you exactly protesting? Do you think they should not have the right to perform? Or, are you just out to harass them?

I am just checking in to say I’m back from the protest. There was about 15+ people ot there. It was an incredible time.
I will make a new post about the protest tomorrow - and hopefully pictures will soon follow. Time for some rest.
