Closing The Book

By Matt Margolis | June 1, 2003

Unless I change my mind at some later date, this will be the last post in the “War Journal.” Fighting has been over for a while, and even though stablization of Iraq is still underway, the war is essentially over - with an amazing victory of the United States courtesy of our armed forces, the coalition, and our commander-in-chief, George W. Bush.

If news related to war comes up that I feel merits a post within this section of the blog, I may decide to return.

For now, please check all other sections of the blog for new postings.

Closing the book so soon? Where are the WMD’s? If we fought the war to rid Iraq of WMD’s, the war cannot be over until we find them. Otherwise, Iraq would still possess WMDs and consequently still be a threat. That is, of course, assuming that Iraq had WMDs in the first place. And by the way, where is Saddam? Where is Osama? Where is the link between Saddam and Osama?

Jack, I’ve seen in several of your postings the same lines “Where is Saddam? Where is Osama?” This post was about the fact that the “War Journal” is effectively done because the war is over. Fighting has stopped. The bombs aren’t being dropped anymore. There are not more battles.

The fact is the WMDs possessed by the regime was one of the reasons we went into Iraq. We also went to remove Saddam Hussein, and to restore democracy.

Remember Jack, Iraq is roughly the same size as the state of California, and Saddam Hussein had plenty of time to hide his arsenals since the passing of Res 1441. I don’t believe it was ever expected that we’d just walk into a whole desert full of missles and bioweapons etc. etc. etc.

Mathew, do you not consider the illegal attack on Iraq, or rather, “Clone of the Attacks” a terrorist act? Is not the reconstruction regime a terrorist regime? Firing on unarmed civillians in their own country. How can a good conservative support this? You’re really dissapointing me, Matt.

Saddam was in a hole. Now he’s in a bind.
