Comments about my statement about the SGA President

By Matt Margolis | March 16, 2003

I’ve been contacted a few times already regarding my recent statement posted regarding the situation with the SGA President at the University of Hartford. Some people apparently feel that my personal opinions don’t need to be broadcasted to the University anymore since I’ve graduated.

Yes, I have graduated. But, for starters, my website is not dedicated to University of Hartford related issues - that is only one part of it. Second, I do not force anyone to view my website. I have the right to have an opinion about my alma mater.

More importantly, because of the increasingly political atmosphere at the university, somebody has to offer the students balance when it comes to the issues - and in some case I have to give them the truth. I do not feel that the University presently has an active voice on campus to present any balance or truth on current events or political issues. I am trying to do the right thing. The Progressive Student Alliance, other liberal groups and faculty need a counterweight to their propaganda and misinformation - othewise, most students will just accept their diatribe as truth. I cannot in good conscience let that happen. I will not “walk away” (as one e-mailer suggested) I will continue to offer balance and truth the University of Hartford.

It’s amazing how the first amendment only applies when you’re not criticizing leftist propagandists/institutions.

I think, for once, Matt made some valid points in his assessment of Ami’s letter regarding the SGA presidency. Hopefully next year will have a more stable SGA with more integrity. Even Clinton pales in comparison to these allegations.

I don’t know who the hell you are or care about the shit you write about BECAUSE YOU GRADUTATED TWO YEARS AGO!!

Don’t write your opinions about the SGA Presidental issues on campus. In fact don’t ever write about anything that has to do with this campus anymore because it doesn’t affect you. You graduated…give it up. You may have known TJ, but you don’t know Ami and your opinions are horrible. Leave the business done on campus to the undergraduates and realize the fact that you graduated and nobody cares about opinions you derive from reading reports or announcements on TV about the University of Hartford. Who cares what you wrote in the informer years ago. It is shit.

Give up with all this shit, or at least stop with the opinions on what happens at UHA.

In response to Bug’s comment. I graduated less than a year ago - not two years ago. Also, I have every right to say anything I want regarding the University of Hartford. You also don’t have to read what I write about it if you feel it shouldn’t affect me. It hasn’t even been a full year since I left the school. I still have friends who attend. I still visit from time to time.
I did know TJ briefly, and contrary to your allegation, I did know Amiel Hersh, even better than I did TJ. I was involved in Hillel, just like Amiel. I was friends with people who were friendly with him too. Everything I said in my statement regarding SGA was true. Any opinion I made in that state was derived from those very true facts.

As I said in a previous posting, no one else is providing the student body of the University of Hartford with a different side to political and school-related issues.

If you have problems with my website, and the content of it, I feel compelled to ask if it is really my opinions that bother you, or that fact that I still have an audience at the University of Hartford that listens.

Matt Margolis is exercising his right as an American to voice his opinions on the new and former SGA President. BUG…you are obviously disturbed by Mr. Margolis’ words, but remember this is America and Matt can say whatever it is he wants to say, whether you feel it is true or not. Also…the informer is not shit, WSAM is not shit. These were the organizations Matt worked for, to name a few. His work was excellent and he offered the University of Hartford, very liberal mind you, a balanced view of the facts when you combined his views with those of the university. Please do not attack university media, or university alumni! That is wrong.
