I recently remembered about the forthcoming release of “Clerks 2,” the sequel to Kevin Smith’s “Clerks.” I liked “Clerks” and I own it on DVD, but after viewing the trailers for the sequel, I don’t believe I’ll bother going to see it.
When I first heard about the sequel, I was not all that excited either. With the exception of “Chasing Amy,” Kevin Smith’s movies have seemed to go downhill since his debut film… enough, at least, I stopped watching them.
Still, the only thing that could possibly drive me to see the movie is pure curiosity. It’s hard not to be curious when a movie you liked has a sequel ten years later. From what I can tell, it won’t be worth the $9.25 it would cost to see it in the theatre. If I do see it on the big screen, I’ll wait for the discount theatre to be running it.
Why does it matter? It’s just a movie, right? Sure. I guess I just feel that if something isn’t broken you don’t need to fix it, and some things are better left untampered with.
I’ve seen “Clerks 2″ in an advance screening… it’s really quite good.
I think you might be right that the trailers are sort of… slanting… the movie to look like a “Scary Movie” or something but that’s on the distributors, not Smith.
You’d really be missing out if you don’t see it.
The trailer makes it look like a combination of “Clerks” and “Good Burger” … granted I didn’t see the latter movie, but you get the idea.
Clerks 2 rocks pussy hard, its awesome it better than dogma but below mallrats
