Democrats Suppress The Vote in Florida

Democrats claim they want “every vote counted” and are very trigger-happy when it comes to allegations of voter intimidation. However, they see it fit to intimidate and suppress the votes of Republicans and Bush supporters … in Florida of all places.

On Election Day, voters will be protected from campaign pressures by a 50-foot cone, an invisible barrier that campaign workers cannot breach. Not so for early voters.

While the Voter’s Bill of Rights in state law says they have a right to “vote free from coercion or intimidation by elections officers or any other person,” a glitch in the newer early voting law does not include the same 50-foot guarantee.

As a result, with early voting taking place in busy public places like City Halls and libraries, voters are voicing complaints of being blocked by political mobs, or being singled out for their political views. Others say they have been grabbed, screamed at and cursed by political partisans of all stripes.

Republican Rep. Tom Feeney of Oviedo said the antagonizers are “Kerry thugs” out to harass Bush voters.

“If you ask me whether I believe there is an organized effort to intimidate Republican voters, the answer is absolutely yes,” said Feeney.

The Republican Party is calling on the secretary of state’s office for help, asking that early voting rules be clarified.

The secretary of state’s office has not yet responded.

“Significant numbers of people have already been deterred from voting,” wrote Republican Party Chairwoman Carole Jean Jordan to Secretary of State Glenda Hood, “and this will continue until corrective measures are taken.”

The Democrats of course have to make a counterclaim:

“We have had incidents as well,” said Christine Anderson, spokeswoman for the Kerry campaign. “We’ve had quite a few.”

She said the party hasn’t taken affidavits from voters and found it shocking the Republicans were so focused on the issue rather than working to make sure people can vote.

“It’s just absurd they would try to accuse us of intimidation efforts,” said Anderson.

Excuse me? A Democrat says it is absurd to report incidents of voter intimidation after the Democrats’ preemptive strike to make accusations of voter suppression even when none exists? If the T-Shirt Test wasn’t revealing enough, this story speaks volumes of what the Democrats are like:

One woman who voted early in Boca Raton, at the Southwest County Regional Library, complained that as she stood in line, two men behind her were “trashing our president,” Fletcher said, declining to identify the woman. She tried to ignore them. Then the man touched her arm and said, “Who are you voting for?”

“I said, `I don’t think that’s an appropriate question,’” the woman said she responded.

“Uh oh! We have a Bush supporter here,” screamed the man behind her.

For the 2 1/2 hours she had to wait in line, she was heckled by the man. As they neared the voting room, someone in the rear of the line yelled, “I sure hope everyone here is voting for Kerry!” she reported.

That’s when the man behind her held his hand over her head and screamed, “We have a Republican right here!” There were “boos and jeers” from the crowd.

“I felt intimidated, harassed and threatened!” the woman wrote in her complaint to the Republican Party.

Elaine Fandino complained to the Republican Party that she took her mother to vote on South Military Trail in Palm Beach County and was confronted by 25 people supporting John Kerry for president. The crowd was “very angry and used foul language,” she reported. She said the man next to her said, “Where’s my shotgun?”

Remember a month ago when I was accusing the Democrats of NAZI tactics? Republicans have been harrased, shot at, their offices attacked and broken into and ransacked. WHO is intimidating voters? And they wonder why we are afraid of giving up our guns.

  2. Miles Davis says:

Kahn I’m sorry but Democrats are not going to take away your guns.

And while I am horrified about the actions you speak of I do not believe that your pointing out a trend. Like the following examples, its dumb to claim its a trend.

  3. Kahn says:

    Miles,
Sorry but you are wrong. There are at least three reports of gunfire and many more of trashing Republican offices. Many of these attacks have been coordinated by the AFL-CIO. There have also been many cases of bullying and even assaulting Bush supporters at ralleys and at the early voting locations. How many attacks do you need for it to be a trend?

And, it IS the stated objective of many mainstream Democratic group to take away all American guns. Many mainstream Democrats have signed onto this. The bill that JFK2 co-sponsored would have made all but single and double-barreled shotguns illeagal. This would have outlawed pump shotguns – a technology well over 100 years old. This is a fact. Read the bill for yourself and not some propaganda rag.

  4. Miles Davis says:

Could you link to some of those incidents and to the bill your talking about? I don’t necessarily doubt you but I wouldn’t know where to look for those specific things.

And I have no idea what you mean by “propaganda rag” other than the blogs similar to this one, I probably visit and watch right wing news more than mainstream, moderate news, let alone look at truly liberal news.

  5. Kahn says:

Oh – and Miles. I have commented on these attacks as they happened in various string here that you were a part of. Feigning ignorane now is really too much.

  6. Miles Davis says:

The first article doesn’t say which side is doing the disrupting, so if you could find one where it actually mentions the AFL-CIO doing stuff I’ll shut up about it.

Your second article could be called a “propaganda rag”, some of its comparisons are pretty stupid but I can understand that Kerry is by no means a spirited gun rights supporter. I don’t see him doing much with gun control right now though even if it was in his past, crime is low and there are so many other issues that seem to dwarf it, the chances of some horrific ban on all guns I think are slim to none.

  7. Kahn says:

Miles – I’m not doing your research for you. There have been multiple stories about it including a formal protest by th GOP to the AFL-CIO. Most stories are not current today.

I have commented on and thwer have been at LEAST 3 shootings, multiple rampages into GOP offices and several GOP offices broken into and vandalized. Look it up yourself.

You must’ve gotten that memo that directs democrats to lie about voter intimidation. Y’know, the one that doesn’t exist. Now that’s a scoop.

What I was saying was that it’s invalid to draw the conclusion that Democrats are acting especially unethically from an article that plainly lays blame at the feet of both parties.

  16. Kahn says:

Hmmmmm, “supposed” un-named, unspecified actions by Republicans in contrast to multiple specific acts of violence and destruction by Democrats. Oh yes, its so clear now. How could I have missed it? Don’t be obtuse = You liberal NAZI’s are attacking Republicans – shooting at us, and destroying our offices. At least have a credible lie to tell. Didn’t they teach you anything at the propaganda seminar?

It’s about time someone did the right thing. Let’s go progressives, take action! CONSERVATIVE SHITBAGS CAN’T VOTE IF WE KILL THEM FIRST!

I have alot of guns, and can get many more!

Do you really want to go out and vote?

  19. jpe says:

t’s about time someone did the right thing. Let’s go progressives, take action! CONSERVATIVE SHITBAGS CAN’T VOTE IF WE KILL THEM FIRST!

There’s no need to get rash. Here’s a little trick I learned from Herr Rove: get a few thousand poll watchers and slow the voting lines down to a standstill. As long as we focus our eeeeevil lib’rul efforts on white precincts, we’re a lock.

  20. Kahn says:

But jpe – that is NOT whats happening. You “liberal” scumbags are shooting at Republicans and attacking us. By the way – given time to fester, this technique will wildly backfire – stress the word fire.

  21. jpe says:

By the way – given time to fester, this technique will wildly backfire – stress the word fire.

To redirect the comment, there’s no question the Republican strategy of holding up the voting queues will backfire. At least, it’ll backfire on America, since it all but guarantees lotsa litigation. Of course, I don’t see why that’s a bad thing, since some matters just should to be resolved in the courts, but it seems that Republicans, by and large, have been far quicker to screech far louder about lawyers and lawsuits. I’m not sure why, exactly, since GWB was pretty fast out of the gate with his team of lawyers in 2000. I guess it’s something to do with the ‘trial lawyers’ mythology.

You “liberal” scumbags are shooting at Republicans and attacking us.

Yeah, that stuff is bad. You won’t get any disagreement from me on that.

  22. Kahn says:

OK – I disagree with you on the republican voter intimidation against Democrat part, but at least we agree that the violence against republicans is bad. Now, would you agree that this activity is voter intimidation and join us in calling for the AFL-CIO and the Kerry-Edwards campaign to help stop it? They could at least condem it – something they have NOT done.

  23. Robert says:

Along the same line as I alluded to in my reply to Um Yeah in the Manny Ortez thread…why should anyone be afraid be afraid of a Democrat with a gun? Those two p*ssies couldn’t do any better than wing Ann Coulter in the shoulder with a pie. And idiots on the left crow about it like they’ve really done something. That’s the difference between them and us. If it had been a couple of Republicans throwing at Barbara Streisand, you can bet the mortgage that they’d have gotten her right in the face. Not only that, but winging her in the shoulder would have been considered a colossal failure of mission. So, no, we have no reason to fear a Democrat with a gun. Unfortunately…terrorists have no reason to fear them, either.

  24. Almiranta says:

Does anyone remember the article written in the latter part of 2001, by a Gore supporter, about how glad he was that Bush had won the election? This was by a major player in the Gore campaign. He said he personally filed several of the lawsuits filed by the Dems to block/change the election results.

What is so important about this article is that he admitted he did not really think Gore won the election—but he felt justified in filing suits and fighting so hard for Gore because he thought Gore would be a better president.

Sure, it was interesting that after 9/11, he realized how lucky we were that Bush won–he said he knew all of the people Gore could chose from to run his administration, and that none of them could have handled the attacks and subsequent decisions/actions nearly as well as Bush and his administration.

But what matters most right this minute is the offhand admission, by one of the Dem operatives, that he knew full well that Bush had really won, but he filed his suits and made his speeches anyway, for Gore, because he wanted Gore to be the president.

My problem is, I can’t remember who wrote the article. I think it was in the NY Times. Anyone remember? It was a good look into the mindset of the Anything Goes Party, the Victory At Any Cost group.
