A Thousand Words And A Thousand Laughs

I know this is a few days too late, but here are some photos from the John Kerry fundraiser at the Walt Disney Concert Hall – stuff you didn’t see in the media.

Here’s my favorite one:

I’m sorry, but a lot of those protesters are idiots.

“Kerry flipped people off!” And Cheney cursed at people, unless they hard core Nader voters or support someone other then Bush, they shouldn’t be talking.

But hey, “do as I say, not as I do,” right?

  2. Kahn says:

Kyle – well I would certainly call a Nader supporter the epitomy of rationality!

Maybe I’m ignorant, could you help me understand Kerry’s positions on some issues?

Is he against the war, or for it?
Did he vote to fund our troops in the field, or to not fund them?

Is he for abortion, or against it?

Does he support the second amendmendment, or want to ban guns?

I guess he’s unhappy with the economy? How is he planning to do better? By raising taxes – or what?

And – does he now say he was wrong when he said he commited attrocities – or has he changed the definition or something? I mean if naked pyramids are attrocities – what did he do?

One last thing – His currrent wife now has an estimated fortune in excess of $1 Billion. But, should his divorce records be unsealed? I mean was it OK to destroy a Republican that way and not him? really – here’s your chance to convert me…

  3. Kyle says:

Interesting how you turn my call on hypocrisy into an attack on my and on kerry :p

I don’t need to “convert” anyone, first of all. I’m not even a damn democrat, I’m an independent.

And…when did I say supporting Nader was rational? If a third party wants to break the oligarchy that the other two parties have over politics, the need to STOP mindlessly voting and start getting a lot more involved. I said “Nader” because he’s the candidate for the third party.

Now, to Kerry, though I’m still a bit confused as to why you’re challenging me on him.

On Iraq: I don’t think he’s for the war, but he at least isn’t stupid enough to think “get everyone out of there and pretend it didn’t happen.” He wants to get NATO involved and the UN involved.

On abortion: He’s pro-choice. A rather simple answer there.

Guns: He supports the ban on automatic weapons. Honestly, why would anyone want to own one of those? And answeres that are illegal don’t count. He doesn’t want to add rules, merely ensure that the current ones are inforced.

Economy: To be honest, I dunno too much about economics and how it works. Which is why I never get involved in such debates.

Atrocities: What are you talking about? Enlighten me and link me up.

Divorce records: This was what tore apart Clinton, and I STILL don’t understand why. Who the hell cares? And why?

  4. Kahn says:

Kyle – not an attack – just questions.
A few things – the “assault weapons ban” Kerry voted for did not ban automatic weapons. They have been heavily controlled since the mid 1960’s. It placed insane rules on many other guns. For example, my 14 year olds .22 would be illeagal if he added a pistol grip to it. And, why would someone want one? Why would someone want a tatoo? It is a guaranteed right – period.

On the divorce papers – I actually agree with you. Perhaps you were unaware of the way the press recently attacked Senate candidate Jack Ryan by unsealing his divorce papers. Republican – Jack Ryan. He eventually dropped out of the race. Should the same rules apply to Kerry?

And Senator Kerry testified under oath before the U.S.Congress that he had both witnessed and participated in attrocities in Viet Nam. Was he lieing then – or is he lieing now when he says he did not do such things? I mean, if a guy wants to be president and he once claimed to be a war criminal, don’t we have the right to know whats up with that?

  5. Miles Davis says:

I remember reading quotes of Bush making exceptions for abortion because of rape and incest and saying that there’s no reason for anyone to own an assualt weapon. Bush cut taxes and was planning to do so before the recession started, its not like he had plans for the economy. I’ve read about Kerry wanting tax credits for certain industries and doing something about free trade and outsourcing, I honestly don’t think either Bush or Kerry has a plan for the economy, rather one takes credit for it while the other blames it on the other.

I wasn’t in Vietnam, but there were atrocities recorded there that have been written about. I wouldn’t mind looking at full transcripts of what Kerry actually testified to. That was 30 years ago, and a normal human being probably would have changed some of their opinions by now but we hold politicians in such a higher regard don’t we? I mean I could ramble about having a former alcoholic and cocaine user in the Presidency right now but I don’t think that same person was elected.

  6. Kahn says:

Yah well. The reason to elect kerry can’t just be that we don’t like Bush.

Actually, Bush inherited an economy on the skids admittedly after several great years) and fought for the tax cuts. The Fed also helped – but they are outside executive control.

I agree that Bush is not strong on the 2nd amendment – but I actually think thats because he knows that the House will prevent anything. Also – FYI assault weapon is a nebulous term. To me it means a weapon with a cartridge between a pistol and a rifle like the AK-47. To the Gun ban law it means a kids .22 if it has a magazine over 10 shots and a pistol grip. The laws are just silly when you actually read them.

The Kerry ads I’ve seen in Virginia have ALL started with a movie of him in Viet Nam. If he’s going to put that in my face – he needs to explain his activities in Viet Nam, in front of Congress and in the anti-war movement. He can’t just go back to Bush’s “missing” Guard service. He needs to be able to stand on his own two feet and take responsibility for himself.

Oh – did you read about Ryan – any reason why whats good against a Republican shouldn’t be used against Kerry?

  7. Kyle says:

I’m still confused as to what ANY of this has to do with my original post :p

The difference between a tattoo and an automatic weapon-tattoos don’t kill other people. I have nothing against other people owning guns, but at a point I get a bit leery of what they own. For example I think everyone would have a problem if they found out their neiboor had just bought themselves a nice RPG launcher. But one could argue for days on why some guns should be allowed and others not, in the end it just goes down to personal views.

  8. Kahn says:

Welllll – I guess its because they call him flipper. I’m trying to pin down his positions – but it is hard. The above was just clarification. But, Mr. Independent – do you know any of Kerry’s history or positions on major issues? That was the point also.

  9. Kyle says:

    1) I assumed they called him flipper for the whole “flipping the bird” thing he did awhile ago

    2) To be honesty, no, I din’t know much of Kerry’s history. But I do think I showed some of his positions on major issues now.

    3) I have yet to see any Kerry ads, but then again I don’t watch much TV. TV is crap :p

    4) As for the whole Ryan thing, I still don’t get why people should pry into the private lives over others. Unless he abused his wife, what does it matter?

Oh, and my name is Kyle :)

  10. athena says:

    LOL, Love the Flipper pic.

  11. Mark says:

I took that picture; it’s also one of my favorites.

The flipper theme was not because kerry “flipped the bird” to a Vietnam Vet. (although that was an angle I hadn’t thought of berore…); kerry=flipper because he flip flops on issues, that was the significance behind the flipper costume.
