George W. Bush really is something. Once again, he makes me proud that he is my president.

In a moment largely unnoticed by the throngs of people in Lebanon waiting for autographs from the president of the United States, George W. Bush stopped to hold a teenager’s head close to his heart.
Lynn Faulkner, his daughter, Ashley, and their neighbor, Linda Prince, eagerly waited to shake the president’s hand Tuesday at the Golden Lamb Inn. He worked the line at a steady campaign pace, smiling, nodding and signing autographs until Prince spoke:
“This girl lost her mom in the World Trade Center on 9-11.”
Bush stopped and turned back.
“He changed from being the leader of the free world to being a father, a husband and a man,” Faulkner said. “He looked right at her and said, ‘How are you doing?’ He reached out with his hand and pulled her into his chest.”
Faulkner snapped one frame with his camera.
“I could hear her say, ‘I’m OK,’ ” he said. “That’s more emotion than she has shown in 21/2 years. Then he said, ‘I can see you have a father who loves you very much.’ ”
“And I said, ‘I do, Mr. President, but I miss her mother every day.’ It was a special moment.”
Remember, this wasn’t meant for the media to pick up. That’s not a photo from the press, that was a snapshot taken by the father. That was a genuine moment . Here’s what Ashley said,
“The way he was holding me, with my head against his chest, it felt like he was trying to protect me,” Ashley said. “I thought, ‘Here is the most powerful guy in the world, and he wants to make sure I’m safe.’ I definitely had a couple of tears in my eyes, which is pretty unusual for me.”
and her father…
“I’m a pretty cynical and jaded guy at this point in my life,” Faulkner said of the moment with the president. “But this was the real deal. I was really impressed. It was genuine and from the heart.”
Bush sends 865 Coalition Forces to their deaths. Is responsible for killing THOUSANDS of Iraqi citizens, BUT because he gives a a little girl a hug he is such a genuinely compassionate man.
Bullshit.
Oh and how about that reversal of the pledge to Sharon. That has got to be a big kick in the balls for you Matt!
Ah, the first moonbat oozes in! Let’s see, anything original?
I’m afraid not. A “No blood for oil” meme and some blather about a reversal of “the pledge” to Sharon.
If this “pledge” claim was true, you would think the moonbats would be pleased.
Yeah chimpyd only touch her because shes white and he cant get touched by his murderer wife! he only looks sad because white people died in his 9/11!
Elefant man do you use your trunk as a noose
too bad he’s looking at the camera so intently. But Bravo Bush.
wow, he’s looking at the camera… wooooooo omigosh…. how dare he!??!?!?!?!
it’s a photo op matthew.
that’s not a press photo todd. it was taken by the father…wasn’t taken by the media.
try again
So instead of Iraqi soldiers getting tortured which is throwing gasoline on a fire already burning out of control, we get a heart-tugging snapshot of Bush hugging a little girl. So Bush is a nice guy. That nice guy is so detached from real world events he found out about these torture photos by watching TV.
lmao! And Matt, a photo op is a photo which will knowingly be used for political gain. A photo op. Who the fuck said anything about press pictures? By the way the latest images from Iraq are pretty bad. what can Bush do now to save his election chances?
you really must be joking. i can’t imagine anyone being so moronic. if i take a picture of some celebrity on the street, and they look at me, thats not a “photo-op”
by the way, a small number of soldiers hazing prisoners is not going to hurt bush.
Hey, even I softened up a bit when I read the story, and I can’t stand the man. There is just so much emotion with 9/11. There were many more cameras there than just the one the father had though. It could have been a photo op but it doesn’t matter anyway. It sounds like the moment meant a lot to the girl and that does matter.
Elephant Man, what’s a moonbat anyway?
Wow, judging by these comments, your blog sure attracts the lunie left! Thanks for a great entry and a great blog.
Are you people living in a vacuum? This prisoner abuse scandal is HUGE problem, and we now know that Rumsfelf knew about it since at least January. He did the typical Bush administration tactic of ignoring and hoping it would go away. It should have been nipped in the bud, but now the cat is out of the bag. Bush supporters said the same thing about the insurgency: pretend it doesn’t happen and then claim it’s only a few bad apples. Those bad apples have done a LOT of damage. Whatever goodwill America engendered in Iraq is now blown to pieces. What are we going to do now? There are no more troops to be deployed. There are no more allies willing to take up the slack. There’s no more money to spend. This may not destroy Bush’s reelection, but we are looking at a draft by next year. Think about that, Matt, because you are still of draftable age.
Lmao. Bush is killing the US with the war costs. Remember how he said he’d not ask for more money? Gee Matt. What if Kerry said he didn’t need money then asked for 25 billion! Would you think him a liar? lmao.
Dittos to Adam’s comment about the moment meaning a lot to the girl and that’s all that matters.
This, is MY President
Bush pauses to comfort teen This is just one of the many many reasons, that i honestly love, respect and admire George W. Bush. God Bless you, Mr. President In a moment largely unnoticed by the throngs of people in…

Trimblog for Bush!

I like that a lot, Elephant Man. I might be one though. I can’t decide.
